Always Him

Rate this book
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year it’s that life isn’t always fair.
Sometimes things happen that test our resilience and our strength.
My life was changed forever one fateful night last year when I lost my leg in an accident. It’s affected my independence and my confidence.
But there is one thing—one person—that hasn’t changed, hasn’t wavered when life gets hard.
Finn Ledger. He’s been my best friend since the moment we met in middle school. We’re grown now, with separate lives, but he still always manages to be there for me when I need him, even when circumstances try to wrench us apart.
He always holds me when I need it, cares for me like no one else can. His affection for me feels like home, like safety…
But recently those innocent touches have been igniting something new inside of me. Something I can’t explain, something lustful and intense.
Something that could change everything…

Always Him is a steamy M/M friends-to-lovers college romance with heart, soul, lots of laughs, and of course, cuddling.

Oh my god, why!? Why did this need to be such a disappointment? Again! It’s really starting to become a running theme with this author, and I’m getting kind of sick of it. No matter how much I loved Sem and Emery, I think I will be parting ways with this author from now on. She’s just lost her spark for me.
Whereas her characters used to be endearing and funny, now they’re just annoying and ridiculous. Whereas the romance used to be all-consuming and devoted, now it’s just silly and frustrating. Her latest books just feel empty and I don’t like much about them.

The worst part is that I was genuinely so excited for this book. Finn and Landon seemed like the perfect pairing to write a book about, and I could not wait to see it all play out! Unfortunately, it played out like the biggest disappointment imaginable and all potential was completely lost.

I knew this would have the best friends-to-lovers trope with a heavy dose of pining and unrequited love; I was sooo ready for that! I mean, I love that dynamic!
So colour me surprised when Finn, who’s supposed to be pining for Landon and doting on him hand and foot, has the personality of a cold dead fish. If I didn’t already know he was in love with Landon, I would have never guessed it from the way he acted. He literally did nothing but exist with a stoic face, pretending like every time Landon touched him was the biggest hardship imaginable. Dude honestly did not do anything remotely interesting and he never showed an ounce of emotion or personality!
The only thing Finn did passionately was continuously text with this other guy, Archer, even though he knew how much it was bothering Landon and he knew that it was driving a wedge between them. I mean, call me crazy, but if the man that I have been in love with for EIGHT WHOLE YEARS is finally giving me the time of day, you will not see me texting another man 24/7. Like, why? I understand he was supposedly talking about Landon the entire time, but it was still freaking stupid.
Finn just sucked as a love interest. Plain and simple. And that honestly came as a shock to me because based on the previous book I thought he would be amazing

And honestly, do not even get me started on Landon, because this man drove me absolutely mad! He had such a terribly infuriating personality and I wanted to smack him repeatedly. He did nothing but whine and be stupid. Literally, that’s all he did. Nothing else. Just whine. Be stupid. Whine. Be stupid. Repeat that over and over again and you have this book.

Also, just to be clear, the premise of this book was utterly insane and did not make any sense whatsoever. Supposedly Finn wants nothing more than to be with Landon, but he does everything in his power for that not to happen. He never made any kind of effort to win Landon over and he never attempted to make Landon see him in a romantic light. If anything, it seemed like he was working hard to achieve the exact opposite. He was working against himself so hard, sometimes I couldn’t even be sure if he really did want to be with Landon or if maybe he changed his mind. It was just too crazy to think that he would act this way if he did want him.
And you know, maybe it could have all been more understandable inside Finn’s head, but we don’t get to know that because we only get his POV during the chapters when they were young! Everything in the present is narrated by Landon, and I’m certain this dragged the book down further. We definitely needed to know what Finn was thinking in the present because it just wasn’t working this way.

Oh, and the worst part about it all might be that this relationship was entirely build on sex. They didn’t have a genuine connection and there was absolutely no chemistry between them. They didn’t do anything together other than touch and hump each other; no depth to be found anywhere. I’d be surprised if they had a heartfelt conversation even once.

But anyway, not only was everything lacking in the emotional or romantic department, this book was also super boring. It was repetitive like you can’t even imagine, and I was over it after only a few chapters. Nothing interesting happens; it’s constantly the same thing.
I mean, okay, that’s not entirely true; something does happen at the very end... but honestly, I wish it hadn’t. Because holy hell that situation was such nonsense, I can’t even. I’m not going to “spoil” it but just know that it was utterly ridiculous, over-the-top and resolved way too fast for something so randomly enormous. It was just such… bullshit. I’m sorry but it was. And honestly, so was this whole book. No offense, but I’m just so disappointed; I’m almost a bit mad that a couple that had so much easy potential was still ruined so spectacularly. What a waste.

I know this has been a rather harsh review, and I apologize if I offended anyone, but for some reason I simply couldn’t find the will to sugar-coat it. Maybe the huge disappointment I’m feeling is making me feel more intensely about the whole thing or something. I don’t know.

I have to break up with this author. This book is so terrible and offensive, I'm not sure where to start.

Commence rant:

Landon's disability is used as a clumsy plot device. It's an excuse for Finn to carry Landon around. Landon is a new amputee, but doesn't seem to have any trauma, pain, or stress. He's not in therapy, physical or mental. Besides one time when he claims he's not whole, Landon might as well not be disabled.

I love stories with disabled MCs, but this is all surface and so damn disrespectful to people with actual mobility issues.

Finn and Landon are completely ridiculous and don't act like real people. They don't communicate, and Landon is all rapey in trying to coerce Finn to touch his dick. Instead of using his words, Landon just goads Finn, and Finn never tells Landon how he feels.

Finn narrates some scenes from when the MCs were in middle school, and they still talk the same. No character evolution or growth.

Nothing really happens except the stupid, unnecessary event toward the end. Because the story isn't unbelievable enough as is, sure, why the hell not, let's throw in some amnesia!

And, finally, Landon's parents are not cute but seriously fucked up. Getting stoned all the time, fucking in front of the kids ... this is not a loving family. If parents were constantly drunk, that wouldn't be funny but abusive and dysfunctional, so why is being stoned any different??

Conclude rant.

Always Him was a super sweet low angst best friends-to-lovers story. In Until Him I remember how much I was curious about Finn and Landon's relationship and I was not disappointed. I adored them so much.

Finn has always had feelings towards Landon from the moment they met one another as elementary school students. Landon immediately became the centre of his world. For Landon as well, Finn was his one true best friend.

I really enjoyed how the story primarily focused on their relationship and its development. While the story is dual POV, it is unique in that the present is told by Landon and the past by Finn. You get this holistic picture of their lives, thoughts, relationship, and feelings that spans years. I thought that was really cool.

I loved how devoted Finn was to Landon. He was always there, and I can't imagine how hard it must have been for him to keep his feelings repressed. It took Landon a while to make those connections and get on the same page as Finn, but I loved how deep their love ran once they did. Can it be viewed as unhealthy codependency? Yes, but it doesn't matter. I enjoy obsessive and unhealthy love, so this was my jam.

I also LOVED how much touching and cuddling there was. So much! That had to be one of my fave parts of Always Him. The way Finn and Landon just need to be constantly in contact, like soul mates who were just meant to be together. They balance one another and are two parts of a whole.

There are moments of internalized ableism. Landon has moments when his self-confidence dips, and he deals with it by using dark and self-deprecating humour.

One thing I enjoy about Cora's characters is that they can be so out there and wild. Some of the things that Landon says or thinks are pretty wild. I loved that.

Also, the antics and family dynamics made me smile. I adore Basil.

I did not expect we would get Finn and Landon's story so soon but Cora always drops these happy surprises on us.

Overall I enjoyed it! I can't believe that Cora's writing block gave us this lovely series and characters. If you enjoy Cora's writing and characters, can suspend reality, Virgin MC, Pansexual rep, childhood best friends to lovers stories with a sprinkle (maybe a bucket) of crazy, this is it.

*** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.***

Landon and Finn are such a joy to read about. Their love story is complex as they have been friends for years and feelings slowly develop for one and have been long simmering for the other. I loved how this romance took its time and allowed you to feel their support and connection to one another as their relationship deepens and becomes so much more.

One of my other favorite aspects of this story was the affection, especially the cuddling between Finn and Landon. They are constantly connected to one another, making many tender moments. Overall I loved this story so much. It was so lovely seeing their romance and love develop, grow, and deepen in such a heartfelt way.

Overall Always Him is such a beautiful love story. Landon and Finn are soul mates, best friends and so utterly perfect together. This is a magical love story with insane chemistry. I loved reading Finn and Landon's love story so much!!!

I would like to spend a day in Cora Rose's head, she has the craziest imagination and I love it.

Everything in this book was over the top crazy, none of it was based in reality, I'm not sure any people actually act the way the characters in this book act.

But ya know - sometimes its nice for me to take a little vacation away from reality and this book was everything I could ever want in the best kind of insane way. I loved it so much I basically read it in one sitting.

i always forget about boring books so i can’t make a chart, but if i could this would probably be in the top 10.
270 pages of pretty much nothing, characters that have probably two brain cells combined and questionable sex.

i couldn’t stand the characters. i’m not only talking about the MCs. i mean every single character in this book. even the damned goat got on my nerves. the only one that i can save is archer, because we saw him like twice and he probably just wasn’t present enough time to piss me off.
it’s one thing to make your characters over the top, which i enjoy, but this? this is a mess. they’re idiotic at best.

i don’t know what’s happening with cora but i hope it stops soon.

i was so excited for this, best friends to lovers, pining, care and affection??? i got an idiot, a sort of robot and meaningless sex.
ugh.
the prose is kind of good but the rest is awful.

spoilers ahead

also, i was kind of scared for the ableism and disability aspect because i have mobility issues, and sometimes i struggle reading these kind of books. i shouldn’t have worried. i think no one felt landon’s pain or struggles. i sure didn’t and it’s a sensitive topic for me.
landon’s disability is used just to make the relationship move forward. which is disgusting.
now, we all cope in different ways, but trust me when i say that if you suddenly can’t do the things you love anymore due to an accident, it won’t be a random passing thought once in a while.
landon lost his scholarship, can’t run, isn’t going to uni, has pain but heyyyyy!!! no biggie!!!! no problems for landon because he just needs finn. fuck. this.
the only ableism present in this book is all cora’s. sure, landon has some thoughts, which were the only realistic part.

we all asked for no third act separation and i am glad that cora decided to discard it but the memory loss trope????? really???
am i on wattpad reading a 2013 fan fiction?? why would anyone think that memory loss (for the grandiose duration of three days) is a good idea?

I. Loved. This!!!!!!!

I love Landon and Finn, I wanted their story as soon as they appeared in Until Him. The affection was just so, so good and believable. I do wish there'd been more of Landon working through his huge pile of issues under what must be a huge rug, but the relationship was everything I hoped it would be.

I cried so much for Finn in those last few chapters 💔

Kinda hoping there'll be a book for the cousin Aspen because I'm intrigued about the bee man!

This was silly, ridiculous, adorable and so very hot.

The twist near the end was nonsensical and unbelievable, but so was the rest of the story, so what can you do?

Loved Finn. Gorgeous, sexy and so far gone for Landon. Loved Landon. Cute, ridiculous, and oblivious.

❤️❤️❤️

He is everything. It’s always been him. Landon. Mine. The man I’ve dreamt of, yearned and ached for. Doesn’t he see? I will never look at another. From the moment my eyes landed on him, it’s been him. Always him.

BR with my girl Cass!

This is a great example of the type of angst that drives me insane. Like yes we know y’all touch a lot, I don’t need to be beaten over the head that you’re “just friends.” Even though it couldn’t be more obvious that Finn is in love with Landon. And God only knows why he won’t spill the beans when Landon openly shows his willingness for more.

When it can easily be fixed with a simple conversation I’m annoyed. Even if Landon didn’t want him like that (which please!) I highly doubt it would have any effect on your relationship.

Also I find Landon highly annoying, self-centered and a manipulative little shit. He’s taken his disability and uses it as an unfair advantage.

If you had a problem with Theo for using Logan and don’t have an issue with how Landon uses Finn, I don’t get it. At least Theo was honest from the beginning.

I have one blaring question … where’s the plot?

It’s like a daily diary in which nothing happens. Today I went to the coffee shop, the next day I went to my parents house, then the farmer’s market. Great, glad I’m here for this scintillating momentous occasion.

I also have a big issue with Landon’s reaction when he discovers Finn’s sexual label. The fact that he was mad when it’s Finn’s decision when or if he comes out. Then he basically outs him to his entire family. Then all of this is swept aside and Finn apologizes over and over again for doing nothing wrong. Fucked up!

Landon’s also naively cocky, I think it’s meant to be cute but I just find it rubs me the wrong way.

I’m not sure why we needed that little plot twist, especially this late in the game. It just felt like a reason to lengthen a book that’s already too long, especially when it’s about nothing.

I would’ve given this 1 star if it wasn’t for the hot sex. I mean it was really hot but not enough to give me a reason to read it. If I could go back in time … not good.

3.5/5

So this book is not a book you can read with your logic turned on. Just don’t even bother trying if you’re not ready to suspend all your rational thinking. Landon is the most unaware character ever. Even with that it was still a fun enough read and had no real relationship angst aside from the obliviousness.

This story is absolutely stupid and annoying. The concept behind it is interesting enough and Cora's writing style was so good, as usual, that I managed to get through the book and finish it. BUT, the characters are super annoying, and every single one of them, even the goat Vincent, who I first thought was the best character in the whole thing, just became annoying. I can't say it enough: super annoying. 🙄🙄🙄
I first considered memorizing the passages that particularly upset me, but in the end I just wanted to get it over with. What had made Cora's stories unique so far is now just like soup reheated for the hundredth time in my opinion, at some point it just doesn't taste good anymore. 😩😩😩
The characters lack depth, the plot has no substance, it's all about how ridiculous Landon and his family act. You don't get to know Finn until it's far too late, because at first you just don't understand why he behaves the way he does (yes, a trained reader can figure that out, but you can't empathize with him at all, unfortunately). And Landon's superficialities and selfishness is not helpful at all. And the sex ... after you wait forever for it, even that is ridiculous and boring. And then suddenly it's all about sex, emotional depth doesn't develop at all. And I better ignore the final scenes here ... 🙈🙈🙈

Feels: 5/5
Steam*: 5/5
Kinks: mild breath play, bit of dominance
Angst: low/medium
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content themes: pining, one MC is an amputee, amnesia, self esteem issues

May 6, 2024 - reread today. Cora's characters are unhinged and I love the humour of it. And oh my heart, Landon and Finn love each other a ridiculous amount. I'm a sucker for non-sexual touch, he's my home vibes, and they just glomped onto each other from the moment they met as kids.

August 26, 2023 - reread the book today. Writing a review because I wasn't writing reviews back when I originally read this book.

Landon is 20. Finn is 21. They have been friends for 8 years. Finn was first friends with Logan, Landon's brother. Logan brought him home and introduced him to Landon. Finn fell hard for Landon and has been in love with him ever since, but never told him. But they have always been crazy close, living in each other's pockets. They've loved each other so hard, they've been each other's lobster, Landon just didn't realize the potential for this relationship to be more than platonic. It just never occurred to him.

Landon was in a car crash about a year ago and his leg was amputated from the knee down. Finn has been glued to his side ever since, helping him with his recovery and their friendship getting even closer with fewer physical boundaries. They're together on New year's Eve and Landon gets it in his head that they need to kiss at midnight because missing out on kissing someone at midnight is bad luck for the coming year. They kiss. And then Landon starts kissing Finn whenever he wants to be close to him, whenever he just needs to physically express his affection for Finn, and that's frequently! It's like a boundary has been removed for him and kissing is just another way for him to convey his affection and be close to Finn. This starts a real testing of Finn's willpower and a horny slippery slide of kisses turning into sex. Finn is tormented though, is Landon just horny or does he feel more for him? Is this going to break Finn's heart?

Oh my God I love this book! I don't reread it as often as some other Cora Rose books, because I find Finn's unrequited pining in the past flashbacks a little sad, but it's an amazing book! These guys have such an epic love. Their feelings for each other are so natural and intense, they are codependent as f***, there are no boundaries between these two. They are like extensions of each other, in that they own each other, heart, soul and body. The love is just palpable between these guys. And it's unconditional love. Landon is struggling with his self-esteem after losing his leg, but for Finn, leg or no leg, nothing changes. Landon is just his and nothing can change his feelings.

They are so in tune with each other and they are just so uncomfortable with any distance between them. In one scene Landon is upset with Finn and threatens to make him sleep on the couch instead of in bed with him and Finn just gets sad and says be mad at me but don't make me be away from you. In another scene, Landon gets frustrated when he's sitting on Finn's lap and Finn isn't running his hands over him (this was when their relationship was basically platonic). In another scene Landon won't sit on Finn's lap because he's upset and needs space, and Finn just gets so cranky not being able to touch him and not touching him is just so wrong. They are so incomplete without each other!

I love how emotional the story is. Yes, it's extremely smutty, Landon is a horny beast with no boundaries and Finn has been restraining by himself for years and is finally letting loose his passion for Landon. Finn has never been with anyone, cuz he's been in love with Landon this whole time. But there's so much love in this story. It hits you so hard in the feels. I also love this family and world Cora has created so much. The characters are such a riot, there's so much funny moments, the characters are so kooky and I am here for it. Every time I hear a cousin or family member mentioned I pray that that person gets a story and I can get more of this!

I'm not blinded to the fact that these characters aren't perfect and there's some cringe-worthy stuff happening in the book but the love is so intense in this book that I just love them. I will say, Landon isn't a perfect MMC, his first few sexual encounters with Finn are not reciprocal, it's all about Landon's pleasure. But it's just because Landon is oblivious and an idiot not mean spirited. And Finn, he babies Landon a lot after his leg amputation. It's probably demeaning to some people how thin carries him everywhere and Landon just lets him take care of all his needs. This would be God you behavior if it was anyone other than them, but between Finn and Landon it's just they are each other's world and every revolution is around the other person. And they are so touch starved for each other and codependent and needy for each other. Why wouldn't they take every moment as an opportunity to be closer and closer to their person?

Some notable moments: (I have so many favorite spots highlighted for this book in my Kindle app! I really had to hold myself back here)

"“We can just say we’re best friends. It’s the truth, right?” “Yeah, sure,” I say and then, because I feel like it, I lean into him and press my lips to his slightly open mouth. He tastes like cinnamon and vanilla. “Landon,” Finn scolds softly, his hand tightening against me. “You…. Fuck. You can’t keep doing that.” My eyebrows slam together. “Why not?”"

This moment is from when they met as kids "“We’re very affectionate in this family. Tons of hugs,” he explains. “Just wait till you meet our dad.” Logan musses his brother’s hair and smacks a kiss on his cheek. “Hell yeah. Nothing wrong with it. It’s a natural way to show you care.” “Yeah, that’s not how we do things in my family,” I mutter. Landon squeezes my hand and then leans his head on my shoulder. “Oh, well, that’s okay. We’ll just have to give you extra hugs to make up for it.” And when he looks up at me with that warm smile and those fucking eyes, my heart melts. Oh. Shit."

Oh my God Basil is so extra! He is so kooky and I love it! The Kitty mansion and his goat obsession/projects! 🐐"“Goats like swings?” Finn asks. “Um, yes, and get this.” My dad’s voice lowers. “I’m going to add a seesaw.” I eye the contraption as I try to envision it. What the hell is Vincent going to do with a seesaw? “But to use it, Vincent will need a goat friend.” Ah, there it is. Finn runs a hand across his jaw. “You’re going to buy another goat, Basil?” My dad glances back at the door leading into the house and nods. “Hell yeah. I fucking love goats.” A strangled laugh escapes me. “Mom is going to kill you.” “She won’t know until it’s too late. She’s going on that girls’ trip next weekend and I’m going to the 4-H fair.” “You will be dead come Monday,” I say and Finn nods."

"“I’m not doing anything sexual with you while a goat watches.” I glance over and see Vincent eyeing us. Hmm, yes, that would be creepy."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

What do you love about me?”
“Everything.” It’s so simple. So definite. And I believe it.
“Everything?” I ask.
“Yes. Anything that is Landon, I love. I’ve loved you from the moment I met you.”

What I loved in this book:

I liked their friendship, I liked how they acted toward each other, I loved how clingy they were, I loved the smutty parts (even if they annoyed me the most because all Landon did was wine that he wants that), Finn was such a sweetheart, I adore him, I loved the way he took care of Landon, and I loved how much they fell in love with each other.

What I didn't enjoy:

There was too much sex in this book for me. Everything led to sex. I don't mind a lot of smut, but I need the MCs to have some meaningful conversations too.

"I will shove this under the rug along with all of the other things there." - Landon's words and trust me he did this a lot (and repeated these words about the rug at least five times). It drove me insane how he repeated these words and was so oblivious about everything.

Then we have the dual point of view. I expected to have a dual point of view in the same way as in the previous book. Instead here Finn's point of view is in the past. It was interesting and nice to read in the beginning but I needed to see his point of view in the present too.

I don't understand what was the point of Archer. Well, I understand, but what I don't like was how Finn hid his phone from Landon. I'm 100% sure in Finn's feelings, he has eyes only for Landon. But imagine reading these chapters from Landon's point of view who is jealous... it doesn't leave a good feeling honestly.

The last few chapters... I will not say exactly what happened, I liked the idea but didn't like how this was all from Landon's point of view and I found it a bit too rushed.

Well, I was looking out for their book and even though I didn't like a lot of things, Finn, his love toward Landon and the way he took care of him made my experience with this book better.

He is everything. It’s always been him. Landon. Mine. The man I’ve dreamt of, yearned and ached for. Doesn’t he see? I will never look at another. From the moment my eyes landed on him, it’s been him. Always him.

God this was so fucking good. The author wrote a note at the beginning of the book that she was obsessed with these two characters, and it really shows in the writing. It’s so perfect. These two are obsessed, codependent, needy MCs which I LOVE. Then we add in the trope of “they’re dating without realizing they’re dating,” which I LOVE.

Landon and Finn are both extremely likable characters with an extremely likable family and are extremely obsessed with each other.

I laughed, I teared up multiple times, and I just had a fantastic time all around. This book is reminiscent of the writing in Whit and Sem and I fucking adored those books too.

"He makes everything right. All the crooked parts even out when he's around."

This was sooooo cute! Always Him is the second book in the Inevitable series by Cora Rose. This is Finn and Landon's story.

We met these boys in book 1, Until Him and it was a pleasant surprise to get their story so quickly from Cora.

Featuring so many fave tropes:

❣️friends to lovers
❣️bi-awakening
❣️first times
❣️grumpy/sunshine
❣️steamy
❣️HEA

If you love Cora's books (full on MCs, suspend reality, kooky characters) you're gonna love Always Him.

You’ve had my heart from the moment we met. Something about you was different.

I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE CRIED
IT WAS SO SWEET

I liked the whole narration and plot design

This is for ppl who need a looooot of pining, hurt - comfort and maybeeeeee slightly toxic-codependent
relationships (which I totally love)

I enjoyed all the jokes, snarky moments and also the smut (the breathplay was so sensual 🫶)

My heart broke like a million times for Finn

I forgot how ridiculous this author can get. The final like 10% of this book…so OTT and annoying. I was hopeful because I loved the book before this one in the series, but the charm wasn’t there. Nothing even seemed plausible to be and I didn’t read any warning about this story being a farce so I really wasn’t expecting that.

Also, way too many other characters. The MCs were going to visit family constantly and they just weren’t interesting. I hate when a huge portion of a book is filled with secondary character dialogue and none of it served to move the story forward. It was just more absurdity.

I love Cora Rose's books but apparently there's a limit to how absolutely dumb a hero can be before it starts to grate on me. I don't mind a little "he's just my best friend and that's why I'm comfortable doing some stuff with him" attitude. But this went too fucking far and I was starting to genuinely roll my eyes.

This book is absolutely everything I love, and have come to expect, from Cora Rose! Simply put: I just adored it.

When we first met Landon and Finn in Until Him, my mind immediately went to “they need their own book.” They were such scene stealers, and their chemistry was exploding off the page. When I found out about Always Him, I was ecstatic but also hesitant. What if it was too heavy and focused on his accident? What if their chemistry fizzles out once they give into it? NOPE. What you saw in Until Him is just the tip of the most amazing ice berg for these two.

This book was 100% focused on Landon and Finn’s relationship and the complete and utter soulmate energy they have. Their dynamic at the beginning is similar to Dex and Tripp in Puckboys where you just wanna shake Landon and scream “why aren’t you getting this?!” (And I squealed when Finn literally does that for us at one point). But then it dives soooo much deeper to a “no one exists to me but you” type love.

Their story is full of electrifying touches, steamy sexual discovery, zero homophobia and the most tender cuddles. I was mad at first that we weren’t getting Finn’s perspective but then when I realized his was going to be done in flashbacks, I melted. The story unfolded in such an organic and romantic way.

You could feel that they were soulmates at their foundation, working from best friends to sexual chemistry to life partners. It wasn’t “oh I’ve always loved you like a brother, let’s add sex in.” It was “you are literally a part of me and this is how we were always meant to be.”

Also shoutout to the Lewis family. I’m absolutely obsessed with you all and your crazy little goat.

1.5/5 ⭐

What a mess of a book. I really loved Sem so I've been giving this author change after change but her books and writing are getting worse with each book. Both Untill Him and Always Him are recycled stories and characters with zero character development or personality. Landon feels like a budget Emry tbh.

Finn's personality was non existent and if I didn't already know he's in love with Landon I would not have guessed it based on the interactions on the page.

There is no plot until like 90% of the book when the author throws a totally unnecessary and out of whack situation that gets resolved in like 2 pages. WTF?!

The entire book is basically Landon being an idiot and whining and loads of sex, but like no relationship build. It felt like their entire relationship was sex and considering Finn has been in love with Landon for 8 years you'd expect more.

Yeah, I think this is the last book for me with this author. Would not recommend.

Never ever start this book late at night or in the wee hours of the morning like I did because I became a zombie the next day. Why? Because it was addictive, engaging and unputdownable. Cora Rose is amazing at writing adorable perfect for each other co-dependent cuddly snuggly couples and their sexy and witty banter with each other. So addictive and I’ve loved all of Cora’s books so far and of course this is no different.

I love and adore Landon and Finn and their love story is beautiful, sweet, sexy, steamy, romantic and emotional. They’re actually soulmates and can’t bear to be parted from each other and my squishy chocolaty heart melted into a pile of goo.

P/S I love Landon’s family and okay even that mischievous chew everything Vincent the Goat 😂.

This was highly entertaining and enjoyable for almost the entire book. I do feel like the little twist towards the end was a bit more OTT than necessary.

I love Cora Rose's books and her writing, but I do feel like you need to suspend a little disbelief in order to fully enjoy them. And I have no problem doing that.

Literally felt like I was highlighting 1/4 of the book. I just loved a lot of it so much. Lots of steam, cuddling, touching, etc.

It was interesting to see Finn's perspective via flashbacks. Ultimately, Finn and Landon were adorable together.

Can Curie get her own novella please? It could have all of her observations of these crazy people, because I feel like that would be hilarious.

Y'all don't come for me 🙊

Okay, I did like it, but it was just...odd. I felt like the pacing was all over the place, and the characters were just...I do not know how to explain it. They were great together, and I liked how well they were together, but I just felt like I was reading the same chapter repeatedly, and then boom, a weird/random incident happens, and then boom again, happy ending. I just felt like something was missing from this book. Landon and Finn seemed like completely different characters than "Until Him." I do not know, I did not hate it, but at the same time, I did not love it. It just could have been shortened and maybe have more going on.

Overall Opinion
After meeting Landon and Finn in the first book, I was super intrigued by what their story was, and was over the moon to get my hands on it. It was sweet and spicy and funny and everything you want in a Cora Rose book. It was very low angst and was more character-driven rather than plot, but the author made it work! Finn and Landon were very codependent on one another, to the point of almost toxic, and both have hang-ups they can't seem to see past. Finn has been in love with Landon for so long, and getting to witness Landon call in love with him was so sweet and special. There was tons of spicy scenes but also lots of heartwarming moments that mad it a great read. Overall this was a great read that was a ride from beginning to end!

BR with my girl Debbie and we were super excited for this one. So, it pains me to rate this one so low. I was beyond excited for this book because Landon and Finn were just too much in Until Him. Sadly, this one just didn't live up to expectations.

Why not?

1. It was boring
Nothing happened. Not till near the end when it became superfluous (and irrelevant). All they did was go to Landon's parents house. Like ALL. THE. TIME. There was just nothing else going on. 😴

2. Landon is a selfish, narcissistic asshole
He was so manipulative and everything was just all about him. Finn just gives and gives and gives and its like it doesn't even occur to Landon to give back in any way. There oblivious and then there's narcissism.

3. It made me livid

What I did like.

1. The sex, when they had it was 🔥
Finn finally got a personality during sex and he was. Hot. A. F.

2. Landon and Logan's parents
Those two are hilarious - let's have their book!

I am just really disheartened. I loved Whit and Sem but am finding these more recent books starting to feel a bit like a one-trick pony

I'm off to re-read Sem to recover.
