An unexpected inheritance offers Libby Pulford the opportunity to escape her abusive marriage and return to her Lancashire roots with her young son Ned. But her domineering husband Steven won't let her go so easily. Just as she's beginning to settle into her new life, Libby's troubled past catches up with her. The one person she can turn to for help is her new neighbour, former police detective Joss Atherton, to whom Libby feels a growing attraction. But Joss has troubles of his own.
In the meantime, Emily Mattison is enjoying new-found domestic happiness with her fiance Chad. The only blot on the horizon is the fact that she's been unable to make contact with the long-lost daughter she was forced to give up for adoption so many years before.
People's lives are destined to intertwine in ways they could never have imagined.

I really liked this book....It had intrigue, dealt with current issues many women face. I read it quickly as I wanted to see what was going to happen. It had a few related stories going on in it at the same time and it ended well.
Absolutely loved this story. Anna brought to life women who are abused verbally or physically by husbands or boyfriends who have children they want to protect from all abuse doing all they can to prevent their children from being in the mix. Sadly in life there are many women living today who put up with abuse for the sake of the children but don't. Read this book and you will find its possible to get away and there are people out there who can help.
In Search of Hope by Anna Jacobs is book two of the author's Hope series. Book one being titled A Place of Hope. These books are linked via an involvement with a derelict hotel, The Drover's Hope, which has been restored and is now a centre for antiques.
The protagonist of, In Search of Hope is Libby Pulford, a wife and mother who is surrounded by all life can offer. However scratch the surface and reality bites back; Libby has nothing. She is enslaved, in the domestic service of a controlling misogynist bully. When the husband turns violent Libby is motivated to leave, primarily to protect her son.
What follows is a wonderful Anna Jacobs adventure guaranteed to please and pleasure all that dare to believe in hope.
The second in this trilogy. Libby is in a domestic abuse marriage. Her husband Steven is a bully and all Libby can do is keep the house and care for her son Ned. She longs to leave her husband but like many women in this kind of relationship, she has no money. She discovers she has inherited a home belonging to her grandmother, a woman she believed had died years earlier. When her husband turns violent one night, Libby knows she must make her escape. She talks to the lawyer who is handling her grandmother's estate but discovers there are conditions before the home she has been left can be hers. She must live in it for 5 years but that worries her because she is afraid Steven will find her long before that.
Her new neighbor is a retired police detective and within a short time she becomes reliant on his knowledge and experience as she tries to stay one step ahead of Steven.
Her birth mother is also trying to locate her, the baby she delivered years ago but was told had died. We met her in the first book so there is that element of mystery added to the story as well.
Although the outcome is fairly predictable, I did enjoy the story. Always nice when victims of domestic abuse come out ahead.
Another enjoyable read from Anna Jacobs, great reading, very gripping storytelling. A really good escape into another life, good fun easy read. There is always a happy ending with Anna Jacobs, great characters. This had a nice ending and I am looking forward to reading the next one. You can't go wrong with a book from Anna. So far in this trilogy the first two have been good reading. Now looking forward reading the last one.
Love the trilogies, to have a partial ending but to read more of the lives and new people in the next book. Definitely my favourite. Another book I couldn’t put down until I really had to. Another few days reading the second book in this series. Anna Jacobs is costing me a fortune 🤣
I couldn’t put it down. Another great book in a series. I just love how Anna jacobs pulls all the characters together in different ways and it seems to be so right. It happens all through her series. Onto the Third book now.
Another pleasant, if somewhat predictable read. Libby was able to escape along with her young son from an abusive marriage. This was possible when she inherited her grandmother's house. Her husband though was hell bent on finding them and returning them back to the marriage.
Libby is in an emotional abusive relationship when it finally becomes violent. She eventually escape the house with her son after finding out she was left an inheritance by her grandmother. Book set in suburbia England. I expected more but is a very simple telling of an domestic abuse relationship with a love interest which the love part is non existent.
