****4.5 Exquisite Stars*****

Found In Us is the second book of the Lost series but it can be very well read as a standalone. I'm very happy to report that this book was more my style than the first, Parker and Jessica took me on a delightful journey and I can see myself reading this book again and again...

Jessica is a California girl living in London, she's landed her dream job at a museum and is now determined to leave her party girl persona behind and start making a new life for herself, one where she's capable and independent. Her new roommate is Dani, so of course, is not long before she runs into her sexy and cocky cousin, Parker. They had met back in Cali and one night things got very heated between them, but Parker shot Jessica down and neither her or her ego have been able to forgive him. Parker likes control, he is very much the British gentleman, he doesn't take risks, ever! which is the reason why he's been battling with his attraction to Jessica. She's chaotic and spontaneous and this characteristics make him crazy and scared, not only does he like control but he has deep trust issues and is not used to feeling so out of sorts. When they are together she makes him forget his need to always keep it together, she feels like a breathe of fresh air in his life and after one hot encounter they are both addictited. They embark in a very sexy relationship and while they do take things slow, their sexual chemistry is explosive and every time they get together, they loose control and doesn't matter where they are the wild fire inside them can't be contain. They both struggle with letting people into their lives and this will make it difficult for them to let go of their issues and find the redemption they both seek. The thing about love though is, that it gives us hope and through it, anything is possible.

Reading this book gave me the same feeling as eating a slice of chocolate devil's food cake, truly delicious. The author did a fantastic job creating characters that were multidimensional and a plot that was really decadent. I loved how Jessica brought chaos into Parker's organized and perfectly planned existence. Not only did I enjoyed myself reading this book but I was able to relate to the story, as humans we are always trying to find ourselves, we learn from our mistakes as much as we learn from others but it is the sweetest part of life when you can find bits of yourself through love.

4 Second in a Series but Strong, Solid and Sexy on its own Stars ****

I think series writing can be challenging for authors. Not because they don't have the talent to do them...I think it can be hard to continue a theme yet have a distinct and different story which links everything together. Some series work - others maybe not so much. This series actually blossomed and all the parts became stronger for me.

Layla Hagen started this series with Lost in Us. There we had characters who had extreme ups and downs; angst galore and the most endearing romantic set ups. The main characters were young, engaging and ended with their HEA. We were introduced to secondary characters who were strong, interesting and begged to have a unique story told about them. Found in Us is that tale.... and it is terrific.

Jessica is a bad girl wishing to straighten up and fly right. She worked hard to get her degree; she nailed every interview she had by either being prepared or faking it till she made it. She is now in London working her dream job at a small Museum. She has a shit boss; she is finding it harder than she ever thought but she is determined to prove to herself and those who never believed in her... she can do this.

Parker is back in London trying to save the family business. He is doing it out of obligation and the memory of his father... the only person who ever gave a damn. When his father died, Parker was abandoned by his mother... sent to boarding school at 8... and during the time when a child needs love... left to fend for himself. It made him tough; made him need control in all things and made him blocked when it came to love. The only thing which put a crack in that wall was Jessica... her light... her way of seeing the good in everything... even the bad... made him yearn...

This is their story and it was wonderful. It was complete... there was no over the top angst or silly miscommunications. There was a development of real strength between them and it took time.

The sexy times..... O.M.G. They were so well written... creative, daring, steamy and hot. The feelings between them grew and you could sense how deep.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Yes, you do not need to read the first book. Again, secondary characters have a real presence and the next book will be about Dani.

As I mentioned, doing series writing can be tricky... I think Ms. Hagen figured out what works for her... and I agree. This book is a treat... and I look forward to her next one.

“I loved it” might be a bit of understatement to how I feel about this book. I can say that Layla Hagen has done a good job in executing this one. I’m very happy that in the start of the story the characters have stayed true to form as they are introduced in Lost In Us, unlike many books I’ve read which ended up with the same character developments and even the dialogues and the “tone” of the whole book.

Found In Us is way more wilder and hotter than the first book. If you are sensitive to that kind of thing, then maybe this is not for you. If you’re into hot reads, this book is perfect for you. I can’t say it is even better than Lost In Us, because they are both good, but this one certainly has its own charm.

Jessica, as she was introduced in the first book as Serena’s best friend, is a party girl who supposedly doesn’t have a care in the world. She’s full of life. The trait she posses that I like the most is that she can find something positive in a negative thing, which is very admirable because it makes one feel better instead of obsessing over something that cannot be undone. After landing her dream job in a museum, she is bent on proving that she is not just a pretty face who goes party after party. Her character development goes along with the plot just right and I’m very satisfied with it.

Parker Blakesley, as he was introduced in Lost In Us as James’ cousin, is a gentleman. He is a gentleman, but under the calm and composed exterior lies a the burden of some bad choices he has made and is trying to make up for now. He is very good at hiding his emotions from other people. He believes Jessica can always see right through him, but from what I have read I can say the reason is he just lets his guard down when he is with her. Parker is used to having control, and what he wants is what he gets, no matter how hard he has to work for it. A bonus brownie point for him because he is all man. He doesn’t talk like a girl, being cheesy and all that. He is sweet, but his romantic lines are manly, and I can easily imagine him as a real man saying those things and I don’t cringe at the thought. Some readers are looking for the obvious traits, so let me break it down in a few words: Hotness level: dangerously high. Sexy British accent: check. Alpha male without being overbearing check. Mesmerizing blue eyes: check. Swoon-worthy? Heck, yes.

So what do you get if you put the party girl and the gentleman who got it bad for her together in one place? Yep, you get not the sparks-flying kind of chemistry but the electricity-flowing kind. Everytime they are together you can feel the tension in the air so thick it’s like a blanket surrounding you. Found In Us just gets a hold of you and makes you read until there is no pages left to turn. I was hooked; it sucked me right into the story and didn’t spit me back out until I have finished every word.

I like it that this book has their past somewhere in the plot in the right places and it explains what made them into who they have become. The chemistry and romance is not overdone to the point of being cheesy. Really, this book is hotter than cheesier, if you know what I mean. Jessica and Parker don’t play around each other; they are not pushing each other away one second and having sex the next. No, they gravitate towards each other like there’s this irresistible pull between them and they don’t fight it. They accept it and they sort through each of their mess together. They are not afraid to admit what they felt for each other.

What got to me the most is their sweet moments. It’s effortless. While reading I got the impression that they aren’t even trying to be sweet, just being honest with each other. It has a “natural” feeling to it, which adds to the romantic feels.

Jessica and Parker really made the wait worth it. Layla Hagen is a natural. Found In Us just sticks to your heart and gets in replay after you turn the last page.

Found in Us gave me all the answers that Lost in Us had me wondering, or should I say pondering, for a while. We finally get the 411 on what’s the deal with all things that conclude Jessica and Parker from what really went down between them and what’s going on in their minds!

So YES guys, we do get Parker’s POV and why he bruised our poor heroine’s ego and why he continuously keeps popping into her life just to c*#k tease and puzzle her.

Author Layla Hagen does a fantastic job in portraying these two individuals from totally different worlds (and continents) and how no matter they try; there is a palpable, enigmatic connection between them that they cannot shake.

What will become of them? What is Parker's deal? And what is he hiding? Read and you will find out!

#A GREAT addition to the Lost Series!! I was highly enraptured with how things were going to turn out between “Parjess” and how a Yank ex-party girl trying to make something of herself, and an Englishman used to having things go his way (and under his control) were going to turn out. Not to mention: Parker’s hidden past and emotions that he hinders from the world, but Jess can see through, and how they both in a sense bring each other a sense of hope and redemption. So interesting!!

An over all, clever, fun, steamy, and romantic read! I can't wait for more from this series! Especially, Dani's story! :)

I´ve been waiting a while for Found in Us and let me tell you is was worth the wait, because Miss Layla did and amazing job I´m absolutely in love with Jess and Parker´s story!!

I really wanted to know what the heck happened with them back in California and finally I have the answer, can you blame Jess for running away from Parker after he really bruised her ego?? I don´t think so, I would probably hide under a rock just to avoid him.

Its really interesting to see how they both been afected basically by the same issue, but they turned out to be completely different. On one hand Jess is so full of life, reckless and always finds the funny side, on the other there´s Parker who´s used to have everything under control, very reserved and acting like a perfect gentelmen. So what happens with this absolutly different personalities can´t seem to stay away from each other? Their chemistry is undeniable, the sexual tension can be cut with a knife but will this very opossite forces will attract or repel each other?

Prepare yourself for a lot of fun, sweet, romantic and very and I mean VERY HOT STEAMY moments between this two, while the walk on and unfamiliar road of redemption, love and honesty (with others but specially with themselves)

The only problem after reading this book is that now Im torn between my sweet, romantic James and incredibly hot and protective Parker.

I received this book for free by the author, for an honest review. Thank you.

As this author is new to me, I was pleasantly surprised with the writing from Layla Hagen. I loved reading about Parker & Jessica's story. I had not read the first in the series, Lost in Us, but it didn’t matter; this book was so well written it could be a stand alone. I loved that she gave you POV’s from both Parker and Jessica. You got to know the characters and why they avoided each other. As cute as that was, when they finally gave into the lust, they gave into the lust! It was a hot read. It was so hot that I had a hard time putting it down. Let’s just say, staying up till 3am to finish it and having to get up at 5:30am, was worth it to me! I would suggest this to my friends and family to read. I give this book 4.5 star.

This book had a lot of R-rated scenes or maybe it was just me lol. Just skipped right over them and it wasn't that bad of a book. In fact, it was good. I really loved Jessica's character. She was so full of life. It was endearing.

"I want the fairy tale ending I've never believed."—Jessica

Life of the party Jessica is ready for a makeover. She's got a new job in another country, and she's ready to be a hard-working good girl. No more screw-ups and needing others to bail her out. Her new plan means no men, and that includes her best friend's friend and new roommate's cousin, perfect gentleman Parker. But just like Jessica trying to hide her bad girl side, it turns out Parker is hiding his bad boy side, too. And when two matching souls don't need to hide the bad with each other, that's when the fun really starts…

"I'm not a gentleman. I'm just very good at pretending I am. Except when I'm around [Jessica]."—Parker

First off, if you haven't read the first book in the series, it's kinda a must to really appreciate Jessica and Parker's story (this one). Although they're secondary characters in the first book (which stars Jessica's best friend, Serena, and Parker's cousin, James), they are integral in getting Serena and James together and that's where I fell in love with these two. I was so excited for their story since I wanted to see how two awesome people could end up disliking each other in the first book. So, it that respect, if you fell in love with them in the first book, then you have to get this book to see how they get their happily ever after!

On the other hand, if I hadn't fallen in love with them in the first book, I doubt I would have liked this book as much. We're dropped in the middle of their story—they have shared history from the first book—and now a few months later, both Jessica and Parker are in London. Jess hopes they never cross paths with each other. Parker's not sure what he wants—well, except that he wants Jess and doesn't want that. They have soooooooo much unresolved sexual tension that gets tapped into fairly early in the book and in a surprising and unexpected way that I was taken aback. The book is filled with plenty of sizzling high heat scenes that was a bit too much for me.

This book was very different from the first book, which makes sense considering how different the two couples are. Although I wasn't a fan of the amount/settings of sex scenes in the book, it absolutely fit these two characters (while it wouldn't have made sense in the first book with the very different heroine). While Serena and James had to deal with trust and guilt issues and the death of loved ones, Jessica and Parker have to deal with trust issues and overcoming/accepting their pasts and who they are. While the first book dealt with a lot of whiplash hot and cold break-ups and plenty of angst, this book was more about a steadily growing romance (well, once they finally accepted their connection) while learning to trust, experiencing freedom with each other, and accepting who they are. While Serena could be pissed off like no other (which I totally understood and agreed with her!), Jessica is actually more quick to understand and forgive (which made me love her even more—she's an absolute optimist given any situation). As for Parker…come on, it's Parker! Although he did totally make me want to kick him at times. In this book, we're treated to alternating first person POV from both Jessica and Parker, which I absolutely LOVED (did I mention I love Parker?)!

We get to see some cameos of Serena and James (still love them!) and get treated to a teaser for Jessica's roommate (aka James's sister and Parker's cousin) Dani's upcoming story. I liked how while Jessica was a bad girl trying to be good, Dani's a good girl trying to be bad. We learn more about Jessica's family life (and why moving to London was a good idea) as well as Parker's past (which was a shocker but totally fits him). Jessica's and Parker's story had some really great romantic lines, which I attribute to the fact that both of them want a relationship with each other, they just don't know how to do it. They have to work on learning to trust each other, but while learning to do that, they're going to have fun doing so. I was curious about some other secondary characters and topics that didn't get explored more despite seeming important in each of their pasts, but I'm guessing that'll be for future books in the series. Overall, this is a 4 out of 5 for me!

~~ 4 Stars ~~

Found in Us is the second book in Layla Hagen's Lost series. Lost in Us was book 1 and I really enjoyed that book. This book was no different!!! I really enjoyed this book as well. I was excited to find out we were getting Jessica and Parker's story at the end of book 1. I just knew they would have an interesting story to tell (and boy was I right) I will warn you that this book was way HOTTER then I remember book 1 being, so if you aren't comfortable with that type of book, then this might not be the right fit for you. Let me just say that Parker really pushes some of Jessica's boundaries ;) As with book 1 I thought the flow and pace of this book was great. The storyline was filled with intrigue and secrets, so it kept your attention all the way through. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough….I wanted to know everything about these two characters. What I loved more about this book was that we got to see Parker's POV. The story is primarily in Jessica's POV, but the author did throw in there many chapters of Parker's POV.!!! It was great being in his head.

This book was more than just a love story. It was a story about 2 people trying to find love, trust and overall redemption. Both Jessica and Parker come from troubled pasts and neither of them felt they deserved to be loved. I will say that after finding out their secrets and the troubles of their past, that they were actually pretty similar in nature, but how these two dealt with it was totally different and is what made these two characters so different. Jessica felt she needed to be the "good girl" to find the redemption she thought she needed. Parker was truly driven by guilt and forced himself to become the "good boy" even though it didn't make him truly happy. I don't want to say more about the story because I don't write spoiler reviews. Just know that you need to read Jessica and Parker's story. They truly are a great couple together and prove that opposites truly do attract. I loved both of these characters equally, they were fun, loving, swoony and spicy :)..Now don't get me wrong they both made me mad at times, but you could really feel their connection to each other. I loved watching them grow into a trusting and loving couple!!!

As for other characters in the story….there really weren't any. This story really did focus on Jessica and Parker. We did get to know Dani (James's Sister and Jessica's roommate in London) better. We got to see a little bit into her life, although the author did leave just enough mystery and question there, for us to be waiting for the 3rd book to be released, which is Dani's story!!! I was also thrilled to stay in touch with Serena and James. We got to see what is happening with them after their story ended.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a love story that is over all intriguing, fun, quite steamy, and a sweet read. This was a great addition to the Lost Series. Even though it is part of a series, it really can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story with NO Cliffhanger :)

Two unworthy characters find a love worthy of forever...

I loved Jessica and Parker. I loved them in Lost in Us, but they were even better in Found in Us. Jessica has a past...so does Parker. Jessica is not your typical heroine - she's not the sweet virginal girl that you read so often in New Adult books. No. She's a bad girl trying to overcome that reputation (a twist, since usually it's the bad BOY trying to be good).

Parker starts off the hero that you've come to expect in a New Adult book - CEO, gentleman...until you find out he has his own past and is not quite the perfect hero you thought he was...which makes him that much MORE perfect.

Layla Hagen's writing is colorful, suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat!!! Then the last 10% of her book - HOLY MOLY!!! My heart rate kept picking up as I swiped the pages (yes I read it on my kindle). It was THAT intense. I also love how she ends one story by beginning another . I also love how at the end, she brings back part of the first story (Lost in Us) - YES, THIS A STANDALONE BOOK, BUT YES, I LOVE THAT LAYLA HAGEN STILL PULLS THE STORIES TOGETHER.

This is my second book by Layla Hagen, and she hasn’t disappointed me so far. The series just got better and better, and I so love the dual POV that came with this book. I was so thankful for it, getting inside the character’s mind would make you understand them more.

You will fall in love with Jessica and Parker, just like you did with Serena and James. They are two different people, who shares some similar traits – they find it hard to trust other people.

She wanted to be good.

Jessica wasn’t perfect. She was the bad girl who’s trying to turn over a new leaf. She just graduated from college and eager to start new away from home starting with getting her dream job at a museum and eliminate temptations. No more wild parties, no more short skirts and most important no more men.

She was doing good with getting herself away from temptation until she crosses path with Parker again. The last time they had met didn’t lead to something good. She was embarrassed, more likely for herself. But avoiding him would be a bit futile, since he was close with Dani. Just like his friend, he can be hot, then cold. He can be tempting acting as if he wants her, then suddenly would act as if he doesn’t want her at all. This had made her confuse even more. The mystery that he exudes and the attraction they shared, gravitated her towards him.

She makes him lose his control.

Parker is trying his best to be the perfect gentleman in front of everyone. Even though it kills him a bit, not to touch or taste Jessica every time he sees her. He needed to have his control, and with Jessica, he was losing it. She was a danger to him. But she was exactly what he needs. He was living a mundane, boring, serious life, and she sees the rainbow in every storm. She is a breath of fresh air. Maybe this is the reason why he couldn’t help but like her.

But how can two people who have trust issues built a relationship?

My sentiment exactly. They both have problems with trust, how can a relationship withstood storms and quakes without it? Even friendship would crumble without trust. But with their past, you will understand why trust wasn’t easy for them to give. It took some time (like-I-was-dying-right-here-I-need-to-know-now kind of some time) before secrets were spilled, and trust was gained one day after the other. It was their trust issues that drove both of them apart. All the while, I thought of something else, but Parker surprised me with what he did. It was a WTF moment right there.

How can they possibly kiss and make up? Would they finally set aside their issues, and allow themselves to trust and commit?

I love how their characters develop, how change was happening as I turn the pages. I couldn’t help myself from getting hooked, and falling in love with the characters, and most especially I can’t wait until book 3, which is Dani’s story. This book gives us something to look forward to.

Found In Us is hot, tempting, and sweet all wrapped up with a great cover. Parker is the kind of man that stars in some of our wildest fantasies, and Jessica is one heck of a lucky girl!

"I will never take away your wings, Jessica. I want to learn how to fly with you."

What if you grew up thinking you didn't deserve love, that you were unworthy of affection....

Jessica has had her share of parties and guys, living in the shadow of her best friend and the shame of her parents, she decides its time to grow up. She embarks on a new journey, across the ocean! New to London, she works her but off at her job, and being a good girl. She's sassy, loyal and fierce, trying hard to change her life around and be responsible. But the boy she thought she left behind seems to be everywhere she looks.

Parker is known to the world as a gentleman and smart businessman. But behind closed doors he's not what he seems to be. He has a dark and troubled past that he keeps hidden and buried. He's a self made man, and does everything in his power to stay out of the lime light and be constantly in control. But the girl who make him lose his hard earned control seems to be the one he cant escape.
But the more he fights it, the more he questions if he really wants to...

This was a great story about two troubled people finding each other and discovering that they deserve love. That their past helped mold them into who they are today, but doesn't need to dictate who they will become. Parker is the sexy panty melting mix of naughty and nice, while Jess helps loosen him up and be happy. They are a great couple that you couldn't help but route for!

While this book is a stand alone, I would recommend reading the first book BEFORE this one, as the main characters are mentioned as secondary's and you have more knowledge of the back stories.

I loved the last book and I loved this one just as much, if not more! Cant wait for Dani and tattoo guy's story!

** I received and ARC from the Author for an honest review**

Found in Us is as book 2 in the Lost Series by Layla Hagen and can be read as a standalone. I first met Parker and Jessica in Lost in Us and you just love both of their characters. If you read book 1 you know that Parker and Jess had a bit of a connection, but nothing came of it and not for lack of trying on Jess' part.

This book pretty much picks up right were book 1 left off. Jess has just moved to London with Dani (who we also meet in book 1) and is trying to start her life anew and be a responsible adult instead of the party girl she used to be. I loved Jess in book one although I did think that she was bit immature and depended on Serena too much. She definitely turned it around in this book and her character really opened up and I really connected with her. She has the ability to spin things for the better even when things are looking so down. I really enjoyed getting to know her character and understanding her and the way that she was before. What made her character even better was the way her and Parker complimented each other so well.

Now, I will get to Parker. In book 1 we meet him and you couldn't help but salivate over him as well. He is such a gentlemen, but Jess sees through his facade and has him pegged for not so gentlemanly. I really like that we get a bit of Parkers POV because it helps with connecting with his character even more. I like that early on Parker knows that he can not control himself around Jess and for him not to have control is scary for him. He has spent his adult life trying to keep his public image clean and keep his appearance as a true gentleman. Except when he can no longer resist Jess things get super steamy and he is anything but gentlemanly. Getting to know his character was pretty great especially with the big glimpse into his past and what makes him the way he is.

Let's talk about Jess and Parker together. Their relationship is so very sweet and very intense. I love the sexual chemistry and tension that they share. Jess brought out a side of Parker that no one really has seen and he opened up so much. Jess also opened up to Parker and they both learned to trust each other which was very nice. I was really happy with the way this story played out. It flows smoothly and does not drag on unnecessarily. The scenes are well written and definitely give you that tingly feeling. I got all the required feelings for this to be a 5 star read...the butterflies, sweaty palms, tingling, sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach and I even found myself smiling when things went the way I was hoping.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet read with quite a bit the sexy naughty bits. I am looking forward to book 3 with Dani & tattoo guys story.

From an enlightening way to look at dresses to an arousing game at the Royal Opera House in London, this novela is full of quirky and seductive scenes.

First reviewed on Literaria http://sede-literaria.blogspot.com

It’s nicely written in a casual style that turns intensely hot when addressing intimate moments, and deeply touching in sensitive matters.

The steamy times are extremely entertaining and go from original to hot and hotter. I thought Parker was hiding a couple of secrets and that’s why he had poor Jessica confused about his attitude towards her. And my, good secrets! And hers too ;o)

After all, he seems to be the perfect gentleman but he teases her or chastises her for being irresponsible. However, Jessica also hides a past that renders her cold and aloof when prodded. That made me very curious about both of them as characters. In addition, I kept wondering if that web of secrets would entreat them to each other or would become an insurmountable obstacle.

Another thing that I liked about Jessica is that she’s a wild creature, but she’s trying so hard to overcome her party days and make a life on her own. She studied art and now works in a museum in London, two positive points in my mind. She’s intent on proving herself to her family, she’s a good friend. I like her on all accounts, excerpt that she smokes. I know, I’m a bit of a snob, I just can’t tolerate that awful smell ;o)

Anyway, I loved her sense of humour, and Parker does too. That’s one of the reasons he’s so attracted to her, her shiny disposition. I understand that craving for light and stimulation very well.

Jessica is sharing a flat with Dani, a young girl who’s tasting the forbidden side of teenager freedom. Her family is concerned for her as she had some trouble in the US, and I felt that this situation was casting a shadow of threat over the plot and it would eventually mean a turning point for our cute couple’s relationship. Jessica’s fear of deep feelings is another thing that makes her so real and human. You can have fun and get hurt, but how more devastating is it when you truly care for someone?

I was surprised by how beautifully romantic Found in Us turns out to be. The emotional connection between Jessica and Parker is deep, meaningful, rooted in their fears and needs and how to fight the former to fulfill the latter. All their past mistakes come forward to test their resolve, all their differences resurface to challenge their belief that they ultimately fit each other.

Found in UIs is a beautiful romance full of fun, sexiness and a great ending that rounds up what happened to the characters in Lost in Us and sets the mood for the next couple in Caught in Us. Wonderful series!

As soon as I knew that Jessica and Parker’s story was going to be told, I just knew that I had to read it. I loved the little hints we were given in ‘Lost in Us’ about their relationship and that as we were told nothing concrete, and Jessica seemed far too hateful towards Parker for such a short acquaintance, I just knew that something had happened between them whilst James and Serena were working through their relationship, and I just had to know what that was!

All my hopes were met when I read ‘Found in Us’, straight away I absolutely adored reading Jessica’s narrative and knew that she was going to be a character that I connected with right away. Seeing her life from her own view was so wonderful as I realised that all the impressions I had of Jessica had been from Serena’s point of view, and whilst very loving, they didn’t have nearly as much understanding behind them as we may have thought.

Jessica is hurt and damaged from her past, something that she has hidden from all of those she cares about, even Serena, and seeing her desperation to make something of herself in the world, and show not only herself but her father and those who had undermined her that she was worth something. I loved her strength and devotion even when her job becomes tough, and how determined she was to see it through herself.

‘Lost in Us’ showed a very heartbreaking and anguished side to love and trust, and whilst I adored that story, reading the sweet, heart-warming and slow burning love between Jessica and Parker in ‘Found in Us’ was just as special to me. I loved their relationship and how it wasn’t impeded by their individual pride or petty misunderstandings, but that they had to work through their problems like any other new couple would. It was slow burning in the sense that their trust in each other grew slowly, but surely throughout the novel, but the heat in the bedroom was fast-burning indeed and I could feel their chemistry leap off the page. They were a truly beautiful couple.

There’s so much more I want to say about this book and how much I loved it, but I really don’t want to spoil any of Jessica and Parker’s beautiful relationship as it really is something so special to read and witness yourself, but I will say that this is one of the most heartwarming, beautiful and brilliantly written books I have read this year. I can’t wait to see more from Layla Hagen and I’m excited to see where else she takes us.

5 Stars!

I am pleasantly surprised by Found in Us. I enjoyed Lost in Us, but the maturity in writing between that book and this one is remarkable. The writing is more pulled together and the characters more defined. The book is well plotted and flows well. I found myself so engrossed in the story, that I did not want to put it down. I enjoyed James and Serena's story in Lost in Us but I love Jessica and Parker's journey even more. Emotionally, the story has everything: anger, betrayal, humor, lust and passion. The sexual tension between Parker and Jessica is hot and the sex, even hotter.

Can two people who feel that they are not worthy of love find an HEA? Jessica and Parker both have traumatic events in their pasts that cause them to distrust everyone. In order to have the life Jessica wants, she moves to London and away from her disapproving family. As certain as they are that she will fail; she is equally determined to live life on her own terms. The only person she misses from the States is Serena, who has a new life centered around James. Jessica thought that she and James' cousin, Parker were starting to become involved but he abruptly left, returning to London.

When Jessica arrives to start her new job in London she rooms with Dani, James' sister. She also avoids Parker, like the plague. Eventually they are thrust together, though they fight their attraction for each other. Neither of them feel that they are worthy of the other person. Each of them have things in their pasts that they feel the other cannot forgive. Each of them are missing a piece of themselves that the other person holds. Little do they realize they have more in common than they think. Both are in need of redemption but fear affection. Having been denied the kind of love in their formative years that would have completed them; Jessica and Parker fear that they truly don't know how to love.

Parker tries to control everything in his life, that way no one can betray him. He realizes that he cannot be that person with Jessica. She makes him lose control, in many ways. Eventually, he warms to the fact that he likes the kind of chaos she creates in his life. Trust is a huge roadblock for both characters. Parker trusts no one while Jessica doesn't trust men. Can they learn to trust each other? The road to their HEA is bumpy but well worth the journey, if they learn to trust in each other.

Just give me a second because I have to stop 'swooning' long enough to write this review. I finished this book a week ago and I still can't get Jessica and Parker out of my mind. They are such amazing characters. I loved everything about them. Their flaws. Their hang ups. Their

idiosyncrasies. They were both characters in Layla Hagen's first book in this Lost series "Lost In Us" but they were not the main characters in that story. However, I loved the fact that I knew the back story about them when starting this book. Even though the first book is only a companion to this one, I would suggest reading the first because the first novel is just as good as this one.

This story takes off from the very beginning with Jessica starting a new job and trying really hard to keep her focus on her career. She is the original "party girl" and she is out to prove herself to her parents and herself that she is all grown up now and ready for responsibility. Jessica is a very strong woman and doesn't expect the typical happy ending, she is ready to be alone. She almost expects it, in a way from everything her past taught her.

Parker is also a strong character. He had to grow up fast in order to take over the family businesses. He didn't have much of a childhood and he seems very old for his age, in that he has lived far too much already. Parker is private and doesn't let many people in. He is guarded but he also gives unconditional love to those that prove themselves.

These two characters were so adorable. They didn't want to fall. They didn't think they were "meant to be." They just kept continually being pushed together and they both just didn't know how to handle it.

Layla is a great writer. You can really tell that she cares about her readers, as she spends a lot of time on each character so that the reader just can't help but fall in love. They story is steady, but not rushed. The characters grow throughout the book, but there is not a fast change. Another great thing that Layla did in this book is introduce Dani, just as she introduced Parker and Jessica in the first one. I love the way there was a small back story portrayed. She gives us just enough of Dani's story to get you hooked and waiting for the next installment.

I loved this book, just as much, if not more than the first novel in the "Lost Series." I'd recommend this book to any new adult, romance fanatics. Layla Hagen is now on my "must read" list.

Review originally posted http://www.reviewedthebook.co.uk/2014...

When I read the first standalone book in this series, Lost in Us, earlier in the year, I only had one complaint – I wanted more of Jess and Parker. They were the side characters in that book but I was thrilled to see Found in Us was their story.

Fresh from being rejected by Parker, Jess is the bad girl trying to reform herself at college. Although she wants to avoid Parker at all costs, that soon becomes impossible and she finds herself drawn back in to his fascinating, infuriating character. I liked how both Jess and Parker stayed true to form as to when we were introduced to them in Lost in Us. Although they’re both heading down different paths from that book, the traits in their personalities still stand out and are easily recognisable.

Found in Us is a much saucier book than the first in this series and though I’ve no aversion to that kind of writing, and Layla does it well, I did miss a bit of the emotional connection we see from Serena and James in Lost in Us. Parker and Jess’ connection with each other, for a little too long in my opinion, seemed to be purely physical. We go from Jessica, quite early on, being all against him and then all over him in a matter of minutes. They both won me over and I loved seeing their characters grow but it took me a while before I found their approach of each other believable.

What I do really love about Layla’s books are that the side characters are multidimensional and can stand on their own – which leads them nicely into being possible main characters for the next book. There were quite a few strong characters involved in Found in Us but here, it’s all set up for Dani to get the leading role in her own book and her story is one I’m so interested in! There were a few interesting developments in her life which has left me really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Layla’s captivating writing completely drew me in to this rollercoaster of a journey and as I got closer to the end of Found in Us, I loved the twists which kept on coming. I’m not great at continuing with series, whether they can be read as standalones or not, but I’ll definitely be impatiently waiting for Caught in Us. If you like your New Adult reads to be hot and tense, you can’t go far wrong with Found in Us.

This book tells the story of Jessica and Parker, two people who think they are too damaged to deserve love. Parker had previously defended Jessica in a bar incident, which resulted in her having a broken leg. During her healing, Parker helped care for her and they grew close, but never gave in to the sexual desire they felt. Parker returned to London to save his family's company, and Jessica lands her after-college dream job working for a museum. Through a little plotting by Jessica's roommate, Dani, they are thrown back together and the sexual tension resurfaces. The rest of the book shows them breaking down each other's defenses to allow the other in to their hearts. What I like most about the book is how it captures the feeling of being in your mid-twenties and struggling with leaving the party life of college behind and becoming a responsible adult. I think many who attended university will relate to that struggle. In relationships, it's also a tumultuous time, when you meet someone and you want to be engulfed by them. Falling in love in your twenties is fast, sexually fueled, and confusing. The author captures this quite well in both Jessica and Parker. The conflicts in the book are mostly internal, with a minor incident at the end that gives a little more insight to everything Parker is trying to conceal. It was really nice that it was not a book where the couple breaks up and gets back together constantly, because while that does happen in real life, it doesn't happen to every relationship. It's possible to stay together and move past your issues without breaking up after every fight. I didn't have a hard time getting through the book, it was a relatively quick and easy read. The sex scenes were lively and nicely detailed. The ability to relate to the characters keeps you going through the story to see that they have a chance at happily ever after. If you are looking for something that isn't too complicated or overwrought with conflict, this is the book for you. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It's not necessary to read Lost in Us to read this one.

Jessica - Jess - Haydn is an American girl who, after being a rebellious young girl, decides to start life afresh. For that, after college, she will live in the city that most captivated her: London.
In London she gets the job of her life: assistant for Museum Operations. It wasn't a great museum, but for the first time Jess was proud of herself for having achieved something alone.
Sharing the apartment with Dani, there was only one problem with that: Dani was Parker Blakesley's cousin, a man for whom Jess had a hidden passion, and she was avoiding him at all costs. That's because the last time they met each other Jess' ego was shattered when Parker did not have any involvement with her, even for a single night.

But the meeting ended up happening (Dani's trick to make them meet?) And gradually a spark of interest began to grow. Soon, Jess and Parker could not stay away from each other.

If Jess thought that her past made her unworthy of having a man like Parker - every gentleman, a true Enchanted Prince in Armor Silver - Parker also had his skeletons in the closet. And just when Dani puts himself in danger, all the secrets come out.

Are they willing to wipe their past clean and give a chance for happiness?

I loved the book, despite not having read the previous. Anyway, as each book has a different couple, I did not miss not having read the story of Serena and James (but of course now I'm going to read!).
The pace is great.
The characters are endearing. To see how one completes the other in their personalities is beautiful.
The book is written in first person, with Jess and Parker's POV. But there are more chapters to Jess than to Parker. I always prefer the male POV. If the chapters were actually alternate, it would have been much better.

Now, I have to wait the release of book # 3, with Dani and the tattooed guy.

4,5 stars!!

*I received an eARC of this book from the author but it did not influence this review in way.*

Found in Us is a sweet story of two people trying to find love and acceptance. I love Jessica and Parker's story even more than I did Serena and James's. There is always some degree of predictability in when I read a story but Found in Us had some very surprising twists that I wasn't expecting, which made the story so much better than Lost in Us for me. I was so happy that I got to see some of my favorite characters from Lost in Us! I had missed Parker, Jessica, Serena, James, and Dani.

This story is quick paced and had the right amount of intrigue that kept me turning pages. I really loved Jessica she was really trying to turn things around in this book. I admire that she wants to prove to herself that she can make it in the real world doing what she loves. I like her character flaws and her resilience in never giving up on trying to turn herself around.

Parker is just an infuriating sweet seemingly untouchable guy that has everything together. I truly wasn't expecting to find out what I did about Parker. I was in shock! I loved how Parker slowly came out of his shell and let Jessica into his life. Parker is the type of guy who can piss you off and turn you on at the same time.

I really like Jessica and Parker together, they balance each other out. Layla Hagen does wonderful job of capturing the emotional tumult involved in falling in love and opening yourself up to love. I truly enjoyed reading Found in Us and can't wait till I can read Dani's story with the dark haired hottie.

Definitely an awesome read. Travel with Jessica to a new place. Different from her home. A strong female who wants to prove she is worth more than just being a pretty face and a party girl. Jessica has grown up a lot since the last time we saw her. Made me proud to see how she evolved, and had more depth and understanding. She was like a bird with a broken wing that just need time to heal. Of course no better way to heal than by falling in love. She has her flaws but worthy of true love. I was glad to see that happen.

Oh and Parker.... Yummy and sexy is not enough to describe this man. Ladies if accents make you melt, than be prepared to be a puddle of water. Straight up sexy, comes out a touch closed in, and afraid to love. Yet, who wouldn't be with a past like his. Made me wish I could pull him out of the book, hug him and kiss him to show him he was worth love. But no worries Jessica does a wonderful job.

Yes they fumble their way through it. However, they say opposites attract, and with time a bit of give and take will they make it? Well why not read and find out, right? Also, you will meet some secondary characters that just add to the mystery of Parker's past.

For me this was a must read until I am done, will not put down, I need to know what will happen next read. I just loved it. The writer has a wonderful talent of sucking you into the relationship and feeling like it's you. Great details, and just steamy scenes that pop right into your mind. I am looking forward to future reads.

Favorite Quotes:

“There’s only one conclusion for you to reach: we might be onto something beautiful.”

“I want you to be my everything, Jessica,”

“I’ve never wanted to give a man everything before. Until now. I want to give him my heart, my soul, along with all of the things I never knew were mine to give away. I want the same from him too. I want it all.”

“There’s no weapon more effective than words. They lash deep wounds that can cripple in a second and heal excruciatingly slow, sometimes not at all. Because words can’t be unheard. Or forgotten.”

My Review:

I read this book immediately after reading the first in the series, Lost In Us, and didn’t expect I would enjoy the character of Jess, as she was not all that trustworthy or responsible in the first book. Silly me, I should have had more faith in this talented author… although, in my defense, this is only my second time reading her marvelous work. I lapped both books up like a dehydrated camel, all 546 pages, and like a thirsty camel, I wished for more. Either book could be read as a stand-alone, which I totally appreciate, although I did enjoy getting a little more of the Serena and James story from Lost in Us. And despite my misgivings at the start, I found I actually enjoyed this book even more than I did the first one. Sensual, addictive, and beguiling. I had a hard time putting it down.

Found in Us is the second book in the Lost Series. It is a stand alone and it’s not necessary to read the first book to enjoy this one. Although the characters from Lost in Us do come back in this story and this story actually begins in Lost in Us. Found in Us is the love story between Jessica (Jess) and Parker. Both characters have had troubled pasts and feel that they are unworthy of love. They need to prove to themselves they are worthy of love before they can open their hearts.

I’ve given this book four stars out of five because it is just that much better than the first book in the series. The writing has vastly improved as has the dialogue and the character growth. Although the overall dialogue improved, Parker doesn’t talk like an English person. Hagen throws in words like shagging, but the overall vocabulary and word flow isn’t English. I was impressed with the character growth in this novel. So many romance writers use the troubled past angle, but it’s actually hard to make it work in a realistic manner. I think Hagan succeeded in this. The story itself is a bit tired. Not much happens beyond the reader learning about the characters’ pasts. The most interesting aspect was the introduction of the characters for the third Lost novel. I’m thinking that novel will be the best of the lot.

I recommend this book to romance lovers that enjoy a character driven novel.
