I read the first book in the series,"Ayiti", and was sucked in from the very first sentence. I was instantly transported into the book and involved with each character. It was as if I were apart of their lives. I laughed with them, cried with them, cheered them on, and prayed for them. When it was over I was left empty. Not only because Ms. Vaughn left a cliff hanger ending, but because it felt as if I left part of myself behind.
I was a bit skeptical when I started to read, "Ayiti: Continued", because there was NO way it could possibly compare to the first part. Ummm, WRONG! It didn't have to compare since it was just an extension. The book kept getting better and better!
Then she writes this book. No way, being female, that she could possibly write a book from a man's perspective and get away with it. Oh my gosh! I will NEVER think that Ms. Vaughn can't do anything ever again! I think this book was even BETTER than the other two! Not because the other two weren't great in themselves but because she not only captured Jude from a man's point of view but she touched on struggles that men go through and how they deal with them. I loved how "real" Jude was! I loved how even though he is a Pastor he is, "Just a man" as well. This book not only gave me a greater understanding of men in general but also Pastors and God. I laughed harder, cried harder and learned just how much God really does love each and every one of us regardless of what we have are going through or where we have been.
Bravo Ms. Vaughn!! Bravo! Encore!
