This is the origin story of Marc Huntington, ex-military, semi-Indiana Jones, definitely-kicking-butt. Vivid scenery, action-packed with just the right amount of mystery. Not as savage or demon-esque as some of Thom’s later works, this is a good old-fashioned adventure with the signature Thom spin. Well worth the read!

This is the first in a series of adventure/mystery stories by author Thom Reese. (I actually read this awhile ago and just noticed that I did not review!) Marc "Hunt" Huntington and his wife, Dana, are recovery specialists, and find themselves in the Amazon up their armpits in intrigue. Missing scientists, stolen artifacts and general chaos. It is very much an Indiana Jones kind of tale, very fast track and keeps you on your toes. I enjoy this first book, and look forward to reading the next two in the series. Cashing Kelvin and A Savage Distance.

Dead Man’s Fire is a fast-paced, action-adventure through the Amazon. Getting to know the characters is both fun and fascinating. With some supernatural aspects, this is a good old-fashioned adventure that will make you laugh while you unceasingly turn those pages right to the end. I was happy to discover that there are two other Huntington books following this one!
