Twisted Shifter: A Helen Wheels: Paranormal PI Mystery

Rate this book
If names become a self-fulfilling prophecy, then preternatural foes had better run for cover. Meet HELEN WHEELS- the wild offspring of a Hell's Angel and a Louisiana stripper. Helen has no clue what to do with her life, or the hefty inheritance left to her from her grandfather. But when her best friend Kim goes missing, Helen is plunged into a supernatural world she never knew existed. Coached by demon hunter Bud Brandish and aided by Kim's gorgeous model-turned-actor boyfriend Jones Jarreau, Helen goes after a devilish shape-shifter the only way she knows how: full throttle. Book One in the forthcoming series, TWISTED SHIFTER introduces audiences to a new kind of hero, a gun totin' potty-mouthed glamour girl with an appetite for HEX, BLOOD, and ROCK & ROLL.

Helen Wheels is a little bit Buffy, a little bit Joan Jett, and a whole lot of attitude. Mix in a glorious California setting, raucous rock roll, and a paranormal crime and this is pretty much my perfect novel. The side characters in Helen's world are attended with detail, attractive, and ripe for primetime as this could easily be a movie or television series. It is full of quick and witty banter chock full of great pop culture references. I's a quick read (over too soon) but it's only the first in a planned series which is a really good thing. I enjoyed it immensely.

This is a fun book. Helen Wheels is a good strong character. Her odd mix of friends and family make this a good start to what promises to be a fun series. Not a romance more an adventure. Just the one paranormal in this story but a very twisted one. I will definitely read the next book.
