Rate this book
Corporate life just became deadly. Succeed or seek salvation…
When career-driven Ruth lands a seemingly perfect job at GlobalCore - a chic yet mysterious corporation, she prepares to deliver her cold and merciless brand of Human Resource Management. But there is something different about this company…
Ruth soon finds herself climbing the corporate ladder but this time, to save her tainted soul. She must compete with industrious angels, hell-bent on success, as she struggles with her new eternal occupation that redefines “employee termination”.
Follow Ruth as she delivers damning evaluations to the most wretched souls California has to offer. These aren’t the mild-mannered office workers Ruth is used to firing, these employees are rotten to the core, and they won’t be leaving without a fight.

Enter the world of Futurist Human Resource Management - corporate shenanigans with dashes of irony and doses of wit ... including an appearance of a soul trader and a naked newly-revived corpse. HRM professional, Ruth has a new assignment she undertakes with her usual professionalism and attention to detail until she realises her responsibilities may carve out a new paradigm in HRM with a new take on termination. Her boss may or may not be of this world and her assignments may embroil her in a lot more than hapless employees accepting 'their career path lies elsewhere' when Ruth removes them from their hard won positions of power and authority. The game plan is not just livelihoods but lives including Ruth's. Clever plays on corporate life (and death) and imagineering a future corporate world that makes to-day's rogue traders and corporate 'reshapers' seem like pussy cats...The reader just has to hang on and enjoy the chase.

No longer a regular fiction reader, and a notorious non-finisher of books, I couldn't wait to pick this one back up every time I was forced to put it down to do life stuff. And having devoured this novel, thanks to Esther my hunger for fiction books has been revived - for ones as tasty as this one, anyway! :) I'm very much looking forward to the next installment of the 'Ruthless' trilogy...

From the first word to the last this book had me wanting more! Krogdahl creates a world where ones own moral compass blunders along with the lead character as she attempts to fit into her new "corporate" world. Throughly enjoyable ride, bring on the second book!

A little Dusk til Dawn. The first 3 chapters were tottering along and then 'wham!' Things got seriously exciting. After that, I didn't put the book down.
