Nate's journey home is nearly sidetracked, though he finds an inner strength to carry on and right injustices along the way. Meanwhile, in Asheville, Lucas's paranoia worsens as Victor continues to tighten his hold, though the reappearance of Sarah lightens the mood, though disaster stalks just behind her in book 3 of Eve of Extinction.
The 3-million-book bestselling author Mike Kraus, working with Stephanie Mylchreest, brings you a thriller that's sure to hit close to home and leave you wondering "what if" long after you finish reading.
As of 2021, an estimated 97% of the world's financial transactions are digital. What would happen if that digital money - those 1's and 0's - vanished overnight?
The world's major banks are in chaos as a disastrous software upgrade has wiped out their customer's records, resulting in the loss of dozens of trillions of dollars in the blink of an eye. Chaos quickly spreads as the general populace panics, resorting first to theft to obtain what they need to survive before turning to more violent measures.
Caught in downtown New York at the reading of the will for her late mother, Sarah - an ER nurse - finds herself stranded in a burning Manhattan with her daughter Mia hundreds of miles away in North Carolina.
Halfway across the globe, Mia's estranged father learns of the disaster while working as a wildlife photographer in the Amazon rain forest, and resolves to do whatever it takes to make it home.
Meanwhile, in North Carolina, a group of Sarah's closest friends does their best to not only watch over Mia, but help guide the survivors of their community as they navigate the treacherous waters of their new reality, discovering along the way who their real friends - and enemies - truly are.

Having sold well over three million books, Mike Kraus & Muonic Press are the #1 producing and selling indie press publishing post-apocalyptic tales, for good reason. Since capturing audience’s attention with Final Dawn in 2012, Kraus has captivated and delighted his readers, both with his solo projects like Epoch's End, The End of All things, Surviving the Fall and No Sanctuary, and with his co-authored projects with authors like Justin Bell, Kate Pickford, Tara Ellis, Kenny Soward and others on titles such as Zero Hour, MELT, Flashpoint and Weathering the Storm.
Passionate about reading and writing for as long as she can remember, Stephanie was inspired to create her own literary worlds by the books she has lost herself in over the years (some of her favorites include: the Harry Potter series, The Road, 1984, Wool and Station Eleven).
Stephanie writes speculative fiction in the wee hours of the night after her children have gone to sleep. She particularly loves writing stories about characters who find themselves in unusual or challenging situations, and exploring how they deal with the fallout.
Having lived on several different continents over the last ten years, Stephanie is also an avid traveler. She married her British husband in Las Vegas with Elvis as celebrant, which was just as fun as you would imagine.
This was really great! A fast paced, high tension, explosive adventure, a really good continuation of the story! I really enjoy this writers stories, always an interesting read! A good book to get lost in & I do recommend!
This continues a good series, though I don't understand the persistence in characterizing Asheville as a small town (too small for a large convoy of scavengers to hit). It is has almost 95000 people, is classed as a city and is the largest in NC west of Charlotte. There are some nice reunions in this one but also a lot of agonizing over feelings which bogs down a story that is in the middle of crisis. I'm not sure what to think about either Victor or Lucas, but it is ironic that Victor loudly insists that Lucas give all of Eddie's stashes to help the community, when he was only willing to donate 10% of his own supplies. I had really liked Tony and Jeremy and their interaction with Sarah, but with joining the group at Asheville, they seem to have retreated to the shadows somewhat. On to book 4.
Finally in Asheville and reunited with her friend June, who's cared for daughter Mia, Sarah and her companions on the long trek home are glad to be welcomed into the refuge. But can Victor be trusted? Mia's Dad, Nate, is also on a long journey from Mexico with others, to meet his daughter for the first time. How does Sarah's father Daniel play a vital role on his way back to Asheville?
Read Outlast, Eve of Extinction Book 3 by Stephanie Mylchreest and Mike Kraus, to continue the thrilling dystopian series and find out where the adventures are heading next!
This is a fantastic continuation that sucks you back into this dystopian world. These authors do an incredible job with the world building and have you on the edge of your seat with the intensity and devastation and once started I could not put this down. Our characters continue to face many trials along their journey that pushes them to the brink and I’m anxious to see what happens next.
Sarah finally finds her way home to Mia but Asheville is no longer the town she knew. Daniel tries to make his way to them but the fire and mudslides make it a challenge. Lucas and Victor are still at each others throats. Nate is fighting his way up from the Amazon, through Mexico, in his attempt to get to his daughter.
Once again these two authors have given us a story that will grip you perhaps forever. The world’s digital bank records are gone. How will people get money to survive. Danger, chaos and suspense. Don’t miss out.
This is such a brilliant series and this follows him as he tries to get home. He will right the wrongs he sees along the journey to get back to his loved one. What will he face? How will he get on? Follow his adventures
