TEXAS EMPIRE MATT BRAUN Jack Jordan, an Indian fighter turned trailblazer and cattleman, is willing to risk it all for a spread of Texas land in the uncharted Llano Estacado ―and for the adventure of a lifetime. Already a legend before turning thirty years old, Jordan's greatest quest still lies ahead. In a breathtaking canyon called Palo Duro, Jordan is about to make an extraordinary stand with a herd of cattle, a courageous woman, a fast gun―and a vision that won't die.
Loved it. I don't normally read westerns but this is an amazingly well-done story that kept my interest. The characters and dialogue captivated me so much I could not put it down. Watching Texas grow from empty land to a huge steer farm and the battles against nature and man to make it happen was exciting.
An enjoyable western. Plot a little cookie cutter, dialogue a little clichéd, but still what do you expect from a novel I picked up in Walmart lol. A cattleman and banker build a multimillion dollar enterprise on land they stole from Native Americans....you know, basically the story of the American West.
This is a thick one as paperbacks go, but an excellent story. Jack Jordon never seemed to make a mistake. He found the land that he wanted in the panhandle of Texas, a partner to finance him and a wife and family to share it with. The ultimate American dream. A great read.
