It is time for 4 stories about our pony girls! From baking to ghosts.

I had to read this one for a copycat challenge in one of my groups. I have always been a bit curious about MLP, though never made the step to actually try it out. I have to say that after reading this I may just not read the comics, but instead check out the tv series and see if that works out better.

Yes, I had fun reading this one, but I had expected more story, more connectivity, instead I got 4 different stories with various characters. There is no real introduction, you are just thrown into the MLP world. You are expected to know all of them it seems. I would rather have had one introductory story, and then I may have enjoyed the other stories more.

Out of the 4 stories the last one was the best one for me. Followed by the first one. I didn't quite like Spike's story (though I did like the queen/princess pony), and Discord's story was so-so, I didn't quite like Discord that much, he was quite annoying. But I did like the ending, so this one is on the 3rd place and not on the last one.

I really liked the last one as I loved Twilight Sparkle instantly + the ghost story was fun, exciting, and I just wanted to know more. What was lurking in the castle? Would Twilight Sparkle and her brother get the chance to band up again like they did back in the past? And also it featured books, so many books! How can I resist a monster/ghost that loves books?

The art was a bit of a mixed bag. There are quite a few illustrators working on the story, and you really noticed the difference between the stories. Still I love the designs of the ponies, I love how colour and fun they are. I have to say that I like them more in the pony-form (I also read the annual for this series and there the girls were human (though still in their pony colours)).

All in all, I did enjoy reading these stories and I quite like the girls (Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie are just the best). But I am not sure if I will continue reading these comics, I think maybe the randomness works better animated.

Four stories. Four fabulous stories. One made me cry (because I'm pathetic and read it while being a bit drugged), and all of them made me laugh. There were Star Trek, Harry Potter, Lord of the Ring, and so many more geek references. It was fantastic. I loved that two of the stories were about non-main characters. Fluttershy is my favourite, but unfortunately she wasn't in most of the stories. Even without her, I loved them. MLP makes me smile, and this book is great. Kids will love it because the stories are cute, but the adult fans will appreciate this the most. You can tell that the second story was pretty much written for us. Can't wait to purchase this for myself!

I always love reading these My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comics. They compile a few different short stories that focus on just a few characters. In this volume, the first story is a friendly lesson about competition when Pinkie Pie enters a Cooking Contest.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders are back and I don't know what I'm going to do when they finally earn their marks because their adventures trying to discover themselves and their talents are so much fun. This story shows them interacting with Discord. I loved the Star Trek references in this one. Discord is definitely a Q like character.

My favorite unusual pairing in this volume is in the third story. Spike looks for a birthday present for Twilight with the aid of Princess Celestia herself.

In the last story, Twilight visits her Big Brother Best Friend Forever, Shining Armor. They reconnect over their childhood love of monster tracking. The Mario Bros. reference in this one is so epic! The plumbers have the best cutie marks.

This volume is another great collection of short comics. Like the other My Little Pony comic books, this is a great gateway for young fans to get into comic books and reading. I give this volume a 4/5.

a copy of this graphic novel was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was super cute. I didn't care for the first story, but I adored the last story. It was nice to see new character pairings - namely, Princess Celestial and Spike, and Twilight with her brother Shining Armour. I also thought it was cute putting the cutie mark crusaders with Discord in their search for cutie marks.

All in all, another successful graphic novel of MLP. I definitely like the change into stories with a few characters each, instead of all characters crammed in. It's a lot more interesting that way.

I'd definitely recommend this to all fans (of all ages!) of the MLP show.

Full disclosure—I never grew up watching My Little Pony because it was considered in the sorcery category. Trying to make that call now on my own as a parent. This was a Read aloud with Verity. Her favorite story was the one when Twilight Sparkles went on a hunt with her brother...cutesy and fluffy, with a bit of peril, but never too frightening. Fairy tales with a modern twist. Not sure how the other volumes are, but this one was enjoyable

This is my first venture into the My Little Pony comics and I know I'll be reading more because it's so cute. Split into four individual stories readers are bound to find they're own favourites, for me it was the first and last :)

This is probably my least favorite My Little Pony collection to date. I'm a huge My Little Pony fan, all generations, and I have a large My Little Pony collection. So when I say that this one wasn't that great, understand that I really don't want to be saying that.

There are four "issues" in the graphic novel, or four separate stories.

The Discord and Cutie Crusader story was pretty cute. I always enjoy Discord. The lesson here is a better one too.

The third story is Celestia and Spike. There's not much to it, but it's cute nonetheless. Celestia lays down some wisdom.

The fourth and last story is Twilight and her big brother on an adventure to find a ghost haunting the library in his castle. It's kinda cute, but nothing special.

Pros:
Characters beyond the Mane 6
My Little Pony
lots of cutesy references for geeky and older fans

Cons:
See above rant
Quick plots that didn't have a lot of 'meat' to them

***I received an e-galley of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

Overall, I enjoyed this collection of the first four comics in IDW's new My Little Pony comic series. I have read several of my daughter's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comics. And I think that this is another collection that we will need to buy and read. She will love these stories. And I liked the illustrations.

Tale #1:
Story one was a fun silly story involving mostly Pinkie-Pie and Applejack entering a baking contest. Although Applejack entered by accident. This one focuses on the silly things that happened during the contest. But it also was about Applejack being mistaken as a different pony, and that pony kept trying to fix it but was ultimately unable to. I think that is tale shows that winning can be fun, but that it isn't everything.
Out of the four stories it was the one that I enjoyed the least.

Tale #2:
I liked this story a lot. It focused on the Cutie Mark Crusaders (the little ponies that don't have cutie marks yet). I think the main reason I liked this story was because it was full of little references to different things. And I found those references to be funny. This tale was cute and entertaining. And I liked the moral of the story.

Tale #3:
I really enjoyed this tale and the moral taken from this one as well. I found this one to be full of action and adventure. Spike and Princess Celestia travel to get a piece needed for a present. I enjoyed having a story that really focused on Spike as more than just a side-kick character.

Tale #4:
Another fun tale. This one focuses on Twilight Sparkle and her brother. Something fishy is happening in the palace and Twilight Sparkle takes it upon herself to find out what is happening and solve the mystery. I liked the sister-brother relationship shown in this tale. And I loved the pony reference to the Mario Brothers. Another cute and entertaining tale.

My Recommendation:

If you are a fan of the other My Little Pony comics, or have a child that enjoys reading these comics, then I highly recommend reading this new comic series. It has the characters that we already know and love. And is full of fun and entertaining adventures. I know my daughter will love it.

*I received this book IDW Publishing in exchange for an honest review*

It's no secret that I really enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic more than I probably should and more than I should probably admit. I get really excited when I stumble across a new comic book or see that a new season has been put on Netflix (since I can never figure out when new episodes come on television). And this comic book really did not disappoint me!

The stories are very short - about 20 pages a piece - and don't really have any overwhelming lessons about friendship. They're short and sweet, and give us a little glimpse into the lives of the ponies. Plus we get to see some new ponies and visit old friends! It's basically just a really good time all around.

I especially enjoyed all of the pop culture references. There are subtle references (especially in the story with the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Discord) and more blatant ones (the plumbers at the palace in the Crystal Empire are my favorite!) and all of them are just as magical and fantastic as I hoped they would be. I think that's part of the reason I love MLP:FIM so much. Well, the pop culture references and the terrible puns.

I would totally recommend this comic to anyone who has enjoyed previous My Little Pony comics or the television show. These comics are excellent for young kids just getting into comic books, especially with the vibrant colors, and for those adults who just need a little bit of an escape from the real world every so often. I am so glad that these comics are doing well, and I can't wait to read more of them! 4/5

My Little Pony: Friends Forever Volume 1 was a fantastic book. My 5 year old granddaughter loves all things “My Little Pony” and this book was no exception. Reading the stories to her were like watching the shows on television. She laughed and giggled quite a bit while listening to the stories.

I liked the fact that there were 4 different stories all involving different ponies and different adventures. And of course, there are different lessons to be learned with each story. The stories held my granddaughters interest and she wanted me to read the book more than once. That’s the sign of a good book, in my opinion. The illustrations were colorful and cute and added to the stories perfectly.

I would recommend this book to anyone (adult or child) who loves My Little Pony. It is a great way to encourage reading and develop a love for reading

This collection of four comics was a fun read, I particularly enjoyed some of the in-jokes.

The odd team-ups in this collection were cool! It's great seeing characters who don't usually team-up interact.

MLP!

I love the pop culture references! And the art is bright and beautiful! I read it in my iPhone but my daughter reminded me we have a copy of our own. I’ll have to pull it out and have a look.

I read this one because the tv show is ending soon and I noticed the CMC's and Discord only share, like, two or three scenes in the entire series. I'm really glad the comics fix that because the CMC are my favorites, and I think there's a lot of potential for entertaining interactions involving Discord and people other than Fluttershy that the series never capitalizes on.

This book actually has four stories and none of them were super long or dragging. They felt like little mini episodes of the TV series, which was nice.

The first one dealt with a baking competition and it kinda bugged me because I guess I identified with the side character too much: if my identity was stolen, and it kept me from being able to do my job, I'd be pissed too.

The second story was the one with the CMC's and Discord, and it's predictable but sweet. You can totally see why the main character's would want to keep their little sisters away from this guy: he has no concept of mortal limitations or safety. Fortunately he just wants to be recognized as the cool uncle and all you have to do is validate him and shower him with attention and he will pretty much do whatever you want. I liked all the little pocket universes he created for the CMCs and it was neat it see geeky references like the star trek one and the LOTR one.

The third story was a quest-type adventure with Celestia and Spike. It's another one that's kinda neat cuz these two don't really get to interact in the show either.

The last one was with Twilight and her brother doing a little haunted house mystery investigation. It didn't really do anything we haven't seen them do in the series, but it was still enjoyable.

The illustration style isn't stunning, but it does have a lot more detail than I'd anticipated and I loved how much expression they were able to put on the character's faces. If I have an itch for more MLP:FIM I will definitely check out more of this series.

Greatly enjoyed the fun stories and cute art of this series! Reread it with my 3 year old daughter and she loooved it, especially the part with Princess Celestia. (Nightmare Moon is her favorite pony, but alas she only showed up on some cover art.) My favorite was the story with Discord...I'd forgotten about him completely, but he is AMAZING. Like a goat dragon zebra pony with crazy eyes and mismatched chicken/bear hands. It reminds me of an awesome Harry Potter parody fanfic I read where Voldemort kept showing up as the harmless groundskeeper-in-disguise of Hogwarts and every time his description had a new (and sometimes contradictory) freaky detail like forked tongue, goat feet, a snake tail, horns, etc. Hilarious! Definitely looking forward to reading more MLP!

Going into this, I was prepared to dislike it as an affront to the rounder, fatter, plainer ponies of my youth, but, even with the sleeker, too-huge-anime-eyed, tarted-up revamped equines, there was a lot to like about this -- it's clever, it's humorous, and it's pretty good. (Also, Jeremy Whitley of Princeless wrote one of the stories, and he knows how to write compelling, thoughtful stories with empowered, smart characters, so that boded well for me as a reader!) I would love to go back in time and get this in the hands of fifth-grade Melissa. I think she'd dig it.

Four cute, slightly nonsensical, pony themed stories that have a good message at the core. Also there are references galore, so be on the lookout. My favorites are definitely the Dungeons & Dragons ones and the Mario and Luigi cameos. They weren't even subtle about it! And as a librarian/book nerd, I totally understand Lexicon. Don't touch my books!

Overall, I find it as enjoyable as the show, so... I guess base your face value opinion on that. Personally, I'm a sucker for anything horse related so I loved it. Though reading it on Hoopla was a nightmare. Libby is better.

Pernah baca boardbooks My Little Pony terbitan Mizan group?

Overall, this is a cute graphic novel based on the characters in the My Little Pony show. There are four stories, each with a different writer and illustrator. For the most part, I liked it. There were a few times the comics seemed to break from the show (I can't imagine Applejack being okay with pretending to be somebody else during a competition- even if it were an accident, her element is literally honesty). I liked some of the artwork more than others. Carla Speed McNeil's artwork is closest to that of the show while Amy Mebberson's is very different. I preferred the art that represented the ponies seen in the show.

All of the stories are entertaining and fun. Great for fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

I'm not a brony, but I have fond memories of "My Little Pony" when my daughter was little. This was a free borrow this month on HOOPPLA, so what the heck.

It has a surprisingly bizarre sense of humour (hence, I can see the appeal with some adults). But my main take-away is - THERE ARE MALE MY LITTLE PONIES NOW?!!?

When did that happen?!

Four short tales of friendship and adventure in the world of my little pony. My favorite tale in here was either the one with twilight and shining armor, or the one with princess Celestial and Spike. This was a ton of fun to read.
