The Angel Chronicles: The Fallen: In Search of Souls
Olivia Price’s world crumbles when her husband is suddenly taken from her in a tragic accident. Detaching herself from the world around her, Olivia becomes nothing but a hollow shell left to dwell on the past. Her relationship with her best friend, Karen, becomes the one stable area of her life. That is, until a man turns up just in time to save Olivia from what seems to be an innocent accident.
Alexander Stone seems to appear out of nowhere, soon becoming Olivia’s handsome savior. He brings with him feelings of guilt, a passion that she can‘t seem to keep under control, as well as a familiarity from her past that continues to haunt her. Little does she know that he holds secrets of his own and he will soon introduce her into a world that she never could have imagined. It’s a world full of good versus evil, supernatural powers, and situations that revolve around life and death.
With reapers and demons at their heels and her dreams becoming reality, Olivia must accept the fact that this new world does actually exist. She must also become experienced in it fast, because it seems to be centered on her. Not only are there evil beings out there, but there are fallen archangels in need of one thing; her soul! If she is to survive, Olivia must begin to trust Alexander and the Guardians, to believe in her dreams, and most importantly, stay hidden from the Fallen.

Smart, atmospheric supernatural thriller, it was fabulous well thought out and involved you in the story, a fantastic debut.
Miss Daniel's debut book is en emotional rollercoaster from the beginning until the end, it leaves you breathless and emotionally drained(but in a good way0 and it leaves you wanting more.
For a debut it shows fantastic presence of something really special, it is full of emotional responses and something really special. It is full of supernatural and paranormal images and happenings. It is a book that builds from the first page and continues building until the end. Miss Daniel's writing is exceptional and elegant and she has done a great job of creating a brand new world. This involves us in both this world(our own) and the supernatural world sometimes becoming so close that they are one and she builds on each throughout the book.
This book had me so captivated I could not put it down and I read it in about 9 hours(except for bathroom breaks) I just had to find out what happened next.
It was a very eventful story from the beginning with Olivia losing her husband Nathan, who was the love of her life and she did not want to go on without him. Her tears became mine in this very emotional book I cried with Olivia and whenever the thunder roared and the rain fell down( it seemed like heaven was crying too!)
Misty Daniel's book is very imaginative, full of details that have both the living and maybe the other world believing the story it was so real! The characters were well thought out although I would like to find out more about Darcy, Sloane and Marcus in the next book, especially the gruff Darcy. All of the characters made you feel more involved in the story and wanting more!
But what of Olivia's girlfriend Karen, was she really helping or hindering her well being and was she the one who called her from the woods?
We have the main characters of Olivia and Karen who work together at Olivia's store and then we have Alexander who shows up suddenly and saves Olivia a number of times, is this coincidence or not! Why is he always around and just who or what is he? We have humans(called commons by the supernatural beings), the Guardians, the Fallen, reapers and demons all of whom have their place in the book(to say more would give things away)
The book is a massive exciting look at paranormal and supernatural powers and a romance that should never have been between Olivia and Nathan but it did! Angel chronicles is very good at throwing you off track so you are always wondering what is going to happen next. Each bit of the puzzle leaves you full of wondering if you are ever going to be able to figure what is going next, Misty throws you another dinger and has your mind going full tilt again! This debut is very imaginative, emotionally charged and a brilliant debut, Misty makes you think all through the book from Nathan's death, through Olivia meeting Alexander and Karen's presence as 'friend'(or is she something else) and you want to find out more about the supernatural elements of the book right up to the end of the book. I look forward to the next book because this one has left me wanting more..

This is a good book, it's just not the book I expected.
I do wonder if I'm guilty of seeing what I want to see, but the cover and blurb had me excited about a dark struggle. With talk of a handsome stranger I expected a little love interest on the side, but I was tuning in for the reapers and demons! Had they been a bigger part of the story I would've been pretty happy because Misty Daniel has an obvious talent as a writer. However the book I read lacked the suspense I craved. The emotion I expected was horror, the emotions I got were loss, love, and sorrow.
Told in first person narrative, this story is about the emotions of a woman barely grasping the events around her. Olivia guides us innocently along this journey. That innocence does lend itself to some very clever angles that grow and develop, it's the kind of book where things come into focus and you start to see how all the pieces fitted together the whole time. Alas, for me her emotions focus too much on the relationships she shares with people and not enough on the events that are so extraordinary - potentially significant and mood setting plot points get similar coverage as dusting and picking outfits. This does allow for more complex unraveling later, but it did nothing to build suspense for me early on. And later on, when the action does arrive, we once more rush past the tension in a race to get back to the emotions of Olivia - again, well implemented but just not the story I expected or hoped for.
As I say, this is a well written book. When I started I read at my normal pace and it felt somewhat fluffy, but when I slowed myself down there was a very strong purpose to the writing. The author doesn't just capture emotions but also presents them with a poise and purpose that I can't help but admire. At times there was a rawness to the writing that shows this already skillful writer can, and likely will, develop even further. I have no doubt that I would've been captivated had the book been the book I expected, but as it stands I find myself regrettably neutral. It's just a different style to what I would generally read and that makes it hard for me to get excited even though I can respect and admire the writing.
I would actually be interested to see how the chronicles develop. Sloane and Darcy stood out as characters I could invest in, Marcus too actually - I wanted to know more about all of them. If the intensity of the Olivia's thoughts can be carried across all aspects of the storyline I think it would appeal far more to me.
If you're here for the horror I'd suggest looking elsewhere as it's a bit lightweight. If you want a romance with a touch of darkness this could be right up your street, and it becomes far meatier when viewed from that perspective. If it proves your kind of book then I think you'll love it, I can only say I liked and admired it though.

The author provides a tremendous amount of details, allowing the reader to imagine what is happening in the book, very vividly. You truly feel as if you are experiencing the story as Olivia.
There is not only an element of mystery in the story but also with the characters. You never know what is going to happen next which is why the book is so hard to put down. Although, some things are revealed about the characters by the end of the book, you are still questioning who they are, which is a perfect setup for the next book is.
I loved the progression of Olivia’s character. She is a bit weak and timid throughout most of the book and given her past (and the reapers), this is understandable. As a reader, you feel for her and her loss, however you also root for her to move on with her life, to stand up for herself and fight. We finally see some of that in the epilogue. I am hoping we see more of that in the upcoming books.
I am also hoping to find out more about Darcy (what is this “relationship” between him and Olivia..there is obviously something or was something between them). And what about Karen…was she or wasn’t she calling to Olivia from the woods? I think there is more to that as well. Finally, what about that last line “are you ready to see your parents?” Uh…hello…I thought they were dead?!
I’m looking for some answers, some adventures and some a** kicking in book 2. Can’t wait for it to come out!

I feel this book was well written. The characters coming to life as I read their stories and holding my attention throughout the book. I knew from the prologues' first few pages that I was going to enjoy this book.
I fell in love with the characters and found myself not wanting it to end. The destructiveness had me feeling as if I were in the scenes a they played out. All of the raw emotion that I felt from the main character Olivia was quite intense at times.
Did I mention the crazy cliffhanger?
I thoroughly enjoyed this read and cannot wait for book two!

Amazing! I can not wait for the next book in the series! I was intrigued before I finished the first page!

I received this book from Goodreads.
I hate myself for giving up on a book. A signed book at that. But I couldn't do it. I made it to page 100 but it was hard. Every sentence was such a unpleasant struggle that I started to avoid the book altogether. I started feeling guilty when I would pick up another book, knowing I should be reading this one. The Angel Chronicles: The Fallen: In Search of Souls just isn't my cup of tea.
