Companion novella to Fidelis In Aeternum, the second volume of the Reading The Dead - The Sarah Milton Chronicles series, containing two standalone Anna Nigma adventures sure to please!
ANNA'S BRUSH WITH LIFE As LAPD Officer Sarah Milton and her partners close in on the Fancy Dress Killer, none of them realize that a certain invisible hitchhiker is along for the ride. It's a good thing she is, because when the unpredictable Harry Sands gets the upper hand, the surprising intervention of Sarah's ghostly companion turns out to be her only chance for survival.
HAPPILY EVER AFTERLIFE Sarah's back in Tilford to attend her father's wedding, and guess who's along for the fun? Unknown to the guests, a pair of would-be robbers have picked this moment to rob the house. The hapless bandits planned on everything, except facing off against the poltergeist queen of pranks.
Author of the paranormal detective comedy/thriller series "Reading The Dead - The Sarah Milton Chronicles" and the urban fantasy novella "Magpie & Jynx", J.B. Cameron hails from New Brunswick, Canada. His vivid adventure tales typically place fun, believable characters in situations of suspense or urban horror, making for an exciting roller coaster ride to both chill and amuse his readers.

This is a book with two short stories about Anna Nigma, the teenage ghost companion to LAPD Officer Sarah Milton.
The first story, Anna's Brush with Life, was okay but it was basically just a rehash of what I read in the other books in The Sarah Milton Chronicles. If I had not just finished reading the other books I think I would have enjoyed this story much more.
The second story, Happily Ever Afterlife, was hysterical. Anna takes matter's into her own hands with a couple of crooks at Sarah's fathers house during his wedding and the results are very comical. This is a funny little story and quite enjoyable.
Sarah Milton's "bestie", as it turns out, is a ghost. Anna Nigma seems to be stuck in a puberty phase.
Anna's Adventures gives us the backstory on what Anna was up to during all the years when Sarah couldn't hear her, after Sarah's mom's death, as well as filling in some gaps- like when Sarah first heard her, and the hilarious action that led to the toilet explosion at Sarah's Dad's wedding.
I had many good laughs, and some insight, with the advance copy I received from Booksprout.
If you're a fan of the series, or you just enjoy acerbic humor of someone like Anna the occasionally not so friendly ghost, this could be a great fun read for you.
This is a light-hearted companion to the grimmer book Fidelis in Aeternum. No (successful) murders on view here! No demonic ghosts! I especially enjoyed the longer second story, in which Anna uses her poltergeist powers to see off two dumb and dumber thieves who gatecrash a wedding. The first story is also an Anna-perspective view of an event in the novel – a flashback to a time when Sarah still cannot see Anna, though someone in this story does see her. That was surprising! I'd suggest reading the Anna-perspective after the related scene in the other book.
It's a pretty funny story considering the content matter. Anna is really fun and she makes me laugh a lot. I enjoyed the backstory we got on where she was for two years and then we also get her perspective on some things that happened in the previous story. Sometimes it did feel a little repetitive, but I'd say it was 90% necessary to rehash some things with her.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A thrilling story of two fun adventures as Sarah solves a couple of mysteries with her ghostly helper. I really enjoyed these well written stories. They are a great addition to the series.

This book is a companion novella to the second novel of the Reading the Dead series. I read this after I read the first in the series and prior to reading the second in the series. I would recommend reading the books in this order. Reading the book without reading the first in the series would be confusing.
This has two stories in it, both from the perspective of the ghost, Anna Enigma.
Anna’s Brush with Life
This tells the story of a previous case of Sarah Milton’s when they were tracking down the Fancy Pants Killer. At this point, Sarah did not know that Anna was still with her and involving herself in Sarah’s life. In the story, Sarah ends up fighting the killer and he gets the upper hand. Sarah only survives due to Anna’s intervention. Of course, Sarah doesn’t know this at the time.
This was a good story. It was great to see things from Anna’s viewpoint. It also did an excellent job of setting up the reader for the next book, Fidelis in Aeternum. Some of this story is redundant with parts of Fidelis in Aeternum. However, both came from different perspectives and I felt that they actually complemented each other. Further, you really got to know Anna and her personality, while also serving as a reminder that she is not an adult yet!
Happily Ever Afterlife
This is a story that takes place in between the first and second in the series. Sarah is back in Maryland for her father’s wedding. Some robbers have invited themselves along to steal the contents of the safe while everyone is busy during the wedding. The prankster ghost, Anna, very humorously thwarts their efforts.
I just loved this story, many LOL moments. The humor was great and it was written so well that it was easy to visualize every scenario

Anna’s Adventures by J.B.Cameron: This is a companion novella to J.B.Cameron’s second in the series, Fidelis In Aeternum. In this ebook you see select scenes from Anna’s point of view. The first story is when Anna comes to Sarah’s rescue in that cemetery when the Fancy Dress Killer was trying his hand at making Sarah his next victim. You see Anna’s struggle with wanting to keep Sarah save and her heroic act of stopping Harry Sands. The second story is of what happened in the house while Sarah’s father, Senator William H. Milton, was getting married. Remember, the whole wedding party heard that crash and the water started dripping and Sarah was off like a rocket to stop it? Well, this one is Anna’s perspective and what made that terrible crash.
The first was ok; I liked seeing from Anna side and what she was going through at the time. Sarah was unable to see her (this was prior to the convenience story thing), and yet Anna still stuck by her side every moment. When Sarah needed it most Anna was right there to help, and in this case possess her foe.
The second story is what I really enjoyed. So much humor! Anna’s sent inside to check on some things and unwittingly foils a robbery? Ya.. You see what she does to these poor men just after a quick buck and you laugh through every second of it. Her antics and practical jokes are just delightful. Excellent quick read!
This book contains two short stories, both from the perspective of ghost, Anna Nigma. The first story rehashes events in The Sarah Milton Chronicles only from Anna’s point of view. She is a lively ghost and her perspective is extremely entertaining.
Happily Ever Afterlife is a comical side story revolving around Sarah’s father’s wedding. In this funny tale, Anna not only thwarts some would be robbers but does it in style. This story reminded me of “Home Alone” with a supernatural twist. It was fun, witty and very well written. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a short book to lighten your mood.
I was given a copy in exchange for a honest review. I'd read and loved the first novel, so was eager to read this one. It contains a short story set pre-book one, and a novella set in book two. The short story was good, but the novella took the cake. It was just so funny. Anna shows her sense of humor well as she gets her own back on thieves who crash Sarah's dad's wedding. I grinned from ear to ear through most of it. So if you liked the novels, definitely give this one a read.
I received a copy of this short story in exchange for a honest review. This quick read was an extension of book 2 in the series Reading the Dead. The narrative from Anna's point of view was enjoyable. It was nice that the author decided to give more background information to two separate incidents that Anna addressed without any of the other characters noticing.
