Genesis Commentary

Rate this book
This is a verse-by-verse commentary on the first book of the Bible. In this volume, Dr. Ruckman covers all the problems raised by the higher critics of the text of the Old Testament, as well as show how all major philosophies are refuted right in the first verse. The fallacies of evolution are examined and proofs provided for the existence of God, the special creation of the universe and man, and the universal Flood of Noah. Other doctrines discussed are the Gap of Genesis 1:1-2, the structure of the universe, the identity of the forbidden fruit, and the sons of God in Genesis 6. The lives of Biblical people are dramatized in modern fashion, and close attention is given to the prophecies and typology in the book, especially in regards to Joseph as the greatest type of Jesus Christ found in the Old Testament. Peter Sturges Ruckman (November 19, 1921 – April 21, 2016) was an American Independent Baptist pastor and founder of Pensacola Bible Institute in Pensacola, Florida (not to be confused with Pensacola Christian College, also in Pensacola, Florida).

Ruckman was known for his position that the King James Version constituted "advanced revelation" and was the final, preserved word of God for English speakers.

great commentary

This has been the best commentary I have read on Genesis. It uses only the King James not like others that uses different translations.

While Brother Ruckman’s commentaries are not “easy” or “light” reading, I think they further my personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. And that’s all that will matter in the end!

In typical Ruckman logic the Book of Genesis comes alive, particularly in the doctrine side. I have only some personnel issues with some of his scientific comments, but none that matter compared to the real issues of salvation and prophecy. Great reading
