“Maybe,” I said distractedly, ever aware that our feet were still touching. Tentatively, I pushed my toe out a little into hers. I pretended to adjust my position on the bed as I did so. It was a gambit. All or nothing.
And I won. She pushed back, returning my touch with pressure. I couldn’t believe it. I wanted to squeal and shout and smile.
But instead of all that, I swallowed. Hard. In fact, it was even audible, and for a moment Alicia’s eyes shot to my throat. It was so strange that we were touching feet, that I was getting aroused by that, and that we were just sitting on the bed, looking at each other, making weird conversation about parts of the brain. It just felt… unreal. My mind was whirling, reeling. I felt both dizzy and excited; both nervous and enthralled; both scared and expectant.
