I am writing this in response to the whole series. It is a series that with a bit of work could be really good. However, there are a number of issues the author needs to address.

The series gets really repetitive. The back story of each character is repeated multiple times within each book. In a series, you kinda have to trust that the reader has read them in order and hasn't just jumped into book 7. Plus the fight scenes are repetitive too - same enemies, same concerns, same fighting patterns. You can pretty much read the books and skip the fighting passages without losing anything... as they form the bulk of the book, you wouldn't really be left with much to read though!

And you need to employ an editor/proofreader. the spelling and grammar errors are increasing - it feels like as the series has gone on the author has rushed each book and it really tells. In some places there are inconsistencies with which character is speaking, how they appear etc. It is a real shame as the story itself is really good, which is why i read them even with all the above issues!

Good book.

Again, found some minor errors in grammar throughout. Not enough to take away from the story but still annoying. Highly repetitive fight scenes as well, but the storyline is still good enough to overcome this drawback.

Book 3, with spoilers ahead for the earlier ones.

Like, the addition of Gavin to their number.

But as they go through a marsh, Ridmark demonstrates the power of marsh gas to burn, and discusses the way it lures swamp drakes -- and they have to fight one. A trolldomr speaks to them in riddling language, talks of its curiosity about "men of water" (all non-troll species), and tells them about the magic driving the undead.

This leads to an encounter with a young woman who practices wild magic, much to Calliande's horror; being caught outside wards; assassins who wear red masks; the importance of not cheating a dvargir; the death of a young man in a circle of standing stones, and more.

I read and finished this in an evening. I don't even know why. It was bad.

I'm getting off the Frostborn train now. It was interesting for a 99 cent omnibus but that's the best I can say. This guy needs a real editor and a real publishing company to shape this up. Three books setting off on a journey to get to one place and we're not there yet? Seriously?

I'm out.

I've accused this series of having a video game story and not only is this not any different, it literally steals a whole story arch from Dragon Age: Origins.

Spoilers for book and the game:

Young witch lives in the wilds, townsfolk don't trust her and view her with suspicion, witch was raised by an older mage that wasn't her real parent and had a mysterious background, older mage had been grooming young mage so older mage could take over younger mages body.

Everything down to the characters personalities was lifted from the video game.

4 books in and every fight scene tends to play out the same. There's never any suspense because the author hasn't given us a reason to believe that there is anything at stake. No matter how bad it looks you know the characters will be fine, usually because of a miracle or dumb luck.

The amnesia plot for one of the characters is interesting but so far we've been told her memory is gone about 50 times with very little progress. None of the plot twists have been original or clever enough to surprise me in the slightest, but they have hammered home a hundred times that the main characters entire personality is due to him blaming himself for a tragedy that no logical person would blame themselves for.

Was going to finish out the series because it's a nice easy read but looking ahead there's about 20 more books so I think I'll give it up here.

The story is probably a 3.5 on its own accord, but the pacing and repetitiveness is ridiculous. Every 17 pages they mention the main characters dead wife and give a brief explanation of what happened.

Perfect book for those with short term memory loss though!

Well now as Ridmark and his friends of various skills and descriptions continue to roam the countryside search for when the start of the Frostborn is suppose to happen they are also having those for which are in need of help crossing their paths. And because of this they are earning some Various dangerous enemies as well as more unusual allies and friends as well. But it seems that one of his greatest enemies is turning out to be one from his past back when he was a squire almost 10 years before; the one whom had undeservedly branded him a coward and the sword bearers no longer allowing him to bear a soul sword. Will her get them rights back? To Mr. Moeller credit he continues to weave a great story which continues to make the reader ask question as much as it answers them. Which makes for a great author indeed.

The story continues here as Ridmark continues on to the ruined citadel of Urd Morlemoch... but you know how things go. You take a road trip and everybody suddenly needs to go to the restroom, somebody wants to stop and see some road-side attraction (the worlds biggest jack rabbit or something), an innocent is being attacked by undead and you HAVE to intervene...the town where you stop for supplies is not only in danger from he same undead but completely distrusts you and your party.

Life can be so, tedious.

Just as long as the BOOK doesn't get tedious.

Sidetracked into another side quest (that of course ties into our main quest) we get another story and another volume to our developing thread. While the story, plot and action do hold up here this volume felt a little more stretched than the first 2 (which I actually read first some time ago) but it's not bad. I plan to move on to the next after I finish an Andrew Klavan book I've started (sadly it's an audio with...an unfortunate...reader) and the second in the Instrument of Omens series.

Hang in there this is a good read and I hold out hope we'll escape the Wheel of Time trap. There are however something like 14 volumes in this series already so, guess I'll see. Anyway, good read and I can recommend it. Enjoy.

Unbelievable!!! I am impressed at the ability of this author to create worlds that are vivid, imaginative, and believable. I was concerned that the Frostborn books would not even come close to meeting expectations. The writing ability of Moeller exceeded any idea I had of what this series would be like. So far, this the third book in the series did not disappoint and kept the story alive, Ridmark and his friends find danger where ever they go. I sat down and read this in a few hours, it kept me glued to the book til the end. On to the next!! Great reading everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jonathan Moeller once again delivers a stirring tale. We continue to follow Ridmark Arban, a disgraced knight who has been stripped of his soulblade Heartwarden. Ridmark witnessed the blue lightning that filled the sky from horizon to horizon and has been told that heralds the return of the Frostborn who will kill all beings in their path and condemn the world to a permanent frozen state. Ridmark is going to a fortress high in the mountains to talk to the Warden, the being who first told him of the Frostborn. He is reluctantly allowing some to follow him there. He has a baptized orc with his blue armor and giant sword. He has a dwarf who is a friar and who battles evil with a mace. He has Calliande, a woman who woke under the deserted Tower of Vigilence and who can remember nothing of her past, but knows that she has magic. We have a boy from the last village they saved who is becoming an adept swordsman thanks to Ridmark. In this book, we meet Morigna, a young witch girl who comes out of the swamps with no visible support. This was a great read!

In the third instalment of this reasonably enjoyable but derivative (and under-edited) what-I-did-on-my-Dungeons-&-Dragons-campaign fantasy series, the fallen paladin hero Ridmark, the amnesiac White Mage Calliande, the dwarven cleric Caius, the orc ranger Kharlacht with his +1 armour and greatsword, and the 1st-level n00b Gavin meet a raggedly-dressed, pale, dark-haired, attractive witch named Morigna. Said witch might be a potential romantic interest for the hero, sneers at religion and altruism, and was raised in the wilderness by a crotchety, enigmatic old magician .

I this book, the third in Moeller’s Frostborn series, the Grey Knight Ridmark Arban, Calliande the Magister and other companions continue their journey to discover more about the foretold arrival of the Frostborn. They come upon a pretty young sourceress in a swamp fighting off undead, and are drawn into a dangerous web of intrigue.

Another very enjoyable tale in the series, where Ridmark’s brains rather than his fighting skill are needed for the troupe to survive. Don’t know when they’ll reach their destination, what the Frostborn are or when they’ll return but it’s a fun journey.

I'm worried that these books are starting to feel same-y, and to a certain extent, they are. However, having said that, I'm still enjoying reading them, and I'm hanging out for the overarching story developing, as opposed to the main story that the book tells. There were some plot twists, sadly, most were obvious, and I feel like the final villain reveal was far too telegraphed, but the climax was rather delicious. The resolution raised more questions, and I can't wait to read more.

As their journey continues ridmark arban and his companions continue to mesh and became a very formidable party their quest to prevent the return of the frostborn leads them into one sticky situation after another but the adventures thwart all comers never wavering in their quest to save their world from a horrific fate!

Another good book

Sometimes as series go on they tend to have filler books that just hold a place or the story seems to get tired. So far this series has stayed entertaining and I can't wait to read the next one.

Now I know how this series is going to work. Ridmark will travel with all his companions and get sidetracked helping multiple towns killing more and more undead until he arrives at book 10 at his final destination. Fun series so far

Adventure with surprises

This story continues the journey of the company that follows the grey knight. They alone stand against the darkness. They do not lose hope. In the darkest hour, help comes from unexpected places.

Il nostro gruppo di eroi.
Una new entry.
Un villaggio in pericolo.
Nemici formidabili.
Tradimenti.

These books are much better read back to back. I had a gap between books 1 & 2 and struggled to remember what was happening. I went straight to this one (book 3) when I had finished the previous one and it was so much more enjoyable.

There are a few errors in the writing, missing or wrong words which interrupt the flow of reading while to stop to work out the correct way a sentence should read, an ARC team would go a long way to correct this.

On the whole the storyline is developing well with each book and I look forward to continuing the journey.

It is a good book and a great series. I was excited to read the story but overall felt that this one was a bit predictable. A pattern is able to be seen in the layout of the story now that I have read the first three in quick succession. The characters make the story a joy to read but I’m hoping for more unexpected plot lines and new creatures on the books to come.

A good 3rd book

I thoroughly enjoy the storyline, but I am getting frustrated with all of the typos.

Pros-
Evolving storyline
Great characters

Cons-
A lot of small typos
Redundancy with the fighting scenes

I will continue to read the series as long as I can check the books out at my library. I won't spend any more money on the series.

Excellent adventure story, but the preachiness of this book upped a bit which is the rating reason of not 5 stars.

Cautiously bought the next one but if it gets any more overtly religious we will have to ditch it.

Tell the story, not your faith.
