This book is out of print and has been replaced by a new edition of Arrival.

When Maddy Young witnesses the ‘arrival’ of ten people and the bizarre injection each person receives, he begins to question the motives of this new world — Two. Reaching out to his old adjustment counselor for answers, Maddy soon finds himself initiated into an underground society of scientists, the ‘Historians,’ while simultaneously defending his first client, Isaac, a ‘Born.’ Maddy is shocked to learn that Dr. Raleigh and the other Historians have waged war against the Borns — a war for all the world’s memories. As Isaac’s trial looms nearer, Maddy is forced to pick a side. What he doesn’t know is that whichever side he picks, may alter the future of Two, forever...

Actually I am kind of sceptical about this series. To be honest,I am not a huge fan of Nick Pirog;the language, the writing style isn't really my cup of tea. But this series seemed very interesting. The first book being highly recommended to me and me finding the plot mesmerizing,I was easily drawn towards the second book. However, this is where I lost interest. Yeah,I was blown away by the twist in the end of the book but overall,I found the book a bit messy. Then again, this is how Nick Pirog writes and it's totally normal for someone not to like it.

Verdict: Not even a good sci-fi book.

The moment I finished Saga 1, I jumped into this book & didn't put down till the end, either. Readers: you must read 1 before this. If you haven't read either, only one little warning: although not constant by any means, there are parts that are not for the squeamish.

I could definitely be friends with Maddy, Berlin & Darrel. They're cool, smart, caring, & funny. All the best qualities in any friends. I like "becoming one" with a group of characters in a book, TV show or movie. I feel involved & emotionally invested, which intensifies everything!

Like his other books, no matter how serious or scary or tense, Nick Pirog gets humor, and great humor, into the story, while keeping everything well balanced. As sarcasm is my middle name, I especially appreciate the emphasis on this.

This saga has even more "What?!" "No Way!" Yeah!' moments in it than saga 1. 180 turns & huge surprises...and the "Gotcha!" at the end was perfect.

I am a huge Nick Pirog fan. Ever since reading 3 AM, which I've read more than once, I've been hooked. I've read all of his work & check constantly for the next to get here. Impatiently waiting! Nick! More books! Any series!

God is love!

PS: I would like this to be put into an audio book version. A while after reading a good book, it can make for a perfect one to listen to while I'm doing a somewhat brainless task like crocheting. I can catch most of it, & what I miss doesn't matter since I know the story.

PPS I'm waiting : )

Re: Typos & other errors.
I still don't understand why Kindle books have so many of these as opposed to "real" books. Especially now that certain Kindle e-readers have the option to highlight words & report them immediately from the Kindle as typos, format errors, etc. Unless I'm one of the few who sends in reports, I would think that everything would have been caught & fixed by now.

Here are my findings in this book:
Typos-
Location 1000: "...were three men and one woman. Two of the men and the women..." Correction:
Woman, singular, not women, plural, as stated in the previous sentence.

Location 1172: "....like I was something missing." Correction: ...missing something.

Location 1643: "The keepers were the Borns were." Correction: omit the 2nd "were"

Location 2340: "...counting on Jeremy's ego to roar it's ugly head..." Correction: rear, not roar.

And this just doesn't make sense to me.
Location 996: "Everything was metal, the walkways, glass, and circles." So, the walkways, glass & circles were metal? Or everything was metal and glass with walkways and circles? Or?

I finished book two of the Maddy Young Saga in less than a day. These books are not full length, and the rest of this series has yet to be published, so I'm done for the moment. This one picked up just where book one left off, like it was another chapter. In fact, I'll bet you could easily put all the volumes, when done, into one book and still have it be a managable size. We knew something was off about this world, Two, and in this volume we find out what it is. Half of the explanation was something I'd thought of, and half of it wasn't. Most of this novella was spent thinking, wow, Maddy, you have a great life, can't you just leave well enough alone? The very end of the book is a cliffhanger, where we find out something crucial, but it's something probably most people would have at least considered, if not inferred, so it's not too big of a deal. I liked this Matrix-ish type book. The author writes at the end that when he writes it, he imagines it being a show on AMC like the Walking Dead, with each episode a chapter, and I can see that.

First of all, this will be more of an overall review of both books in the series since honestly i couldn't be bothered to do separate ones. And now that that's out of the way let's start.

Arrival:
The first book was primarily introductory, meaning that nothing really important happened as far as plot advancement, we were just introduced to the the main character Maddy and the new world he was in, Two. (Reading other reviews I found that some people had a bit of an issue with that since they considered they weren't getting a full book after having paid for one. Personally I didn't have an issue with it although I did find their frustration justified.) Also, the first person narrative is apt in allowing the reader to get to know the MC and his quirks; he's an agreeable character albeit a bit much sometimes. So overall, I considered the first book a good start.

Borns:
I liked this book a lot more since it actually has more of a conflict going on and is a lot more action driven. We explore more of Two and find out more about the inconsistencies and mysteries presented in the first book. To be honest, I really like the premise although I'm not sure the execution is up to par. Like most of Pirog's books this one is very fast paced, which is something that I do like but in this novel felt like it excluded a lot of relevant information for the worldbuilding this novel needed. At the end there is a plot twist, which to me seemed pretty obvious, and it does end in a cliffhanger, something that I'd already known about and accepted when I started this book so be warned. In this book there's still a lot of things left to explore and a lot of loose strings but i believe those were meant to be revealed in later books so I'm not mad just resigned at this point. I'd like a continuation of this series and if the author ever does come back to it I'll definitely read the new book but at this point it's been about 6 years since the last one so I'm not too optimistic.

All in all, I think it's worth giving this series a try even without a sure ending. The premise is unique and the MC is likable so it's not a bad way to spend a few hours.

Good book and we'll written. I like the way they end and you are still left hanging for the next thing to happen.

I really enjoyed this but don't read it! It leaves the story hanging. The author said the third book was coming later that year (2014) but the third book is no where to be seen.

Seriously disappointing. This was like listening to someone tell a story that they tell you is going to be great, and they are super excited to tell you about it, they are laughing as they tell you...and you just sit there with no reaction. Because you had to be there. It's only a great story if you were there to experience it.

I'm not in Mr. Pirog's head for this one, so I am just left with no connection and no positive reaction to this book. It's very upsetting to me because I truly like this author's work. But not this one.

The book jumps right in with no explanation or catch up. Only it doesn't jump in where it left off after book one. Say what? I literally finished book one, bought book two, and it doesn't start where I had ended. Huh.

I gave leniency to Mr. Pirog for not fully developing characters in book one, but he does nothing to develop them in book two. And the plot is even less developed. The story pingpongs around and very little is explained. Some things happen, but everything is just so rushed. There is an irritating timeline issue in the end (Maddy is entering a house in December? Uh, no. It's several weeks past New Years).

What this book really really needs is to simmer. It needs to be broken down and expanded. Take the time to flavor the characters. Take the time to brine the plot. Simmer slowly and work on developing complexity. Let the reader into your mind more and let us experience what you are creating.

In the note from the author, he is super excited about his big reveal. That's great, but it was a little obvious, AND I just don't care anymore. You let your reader down with this rushed and poorly written book.

I liked this one but maybe not quite as much as the first one. The revelations in it were completely unexpected and took the story in a totally different direction than I was expecting, which is a good thing. There are so many new questions raised in this second book and I was really expecting the next one to be out by now. I think the thing that is missing in this story was a cohesiveness between events. Maddy ends up in odd places doing strange things with an excessive amount of free time that a new public defender and father figure shouldn't have. I feel like the characters were in the story but not necessarily part of the story, if that makes sense. The mystery of the Borns seemed to take over and while we didn't lose out the character parts of the story they could have transitioned into the story a little more smoothly. Waiting anxiously for the next books in this series!

I loved this book/ series for many reasons, the pace kept me wanting to keep reading which is the reason I finished it in a day. Although I kind of saw the outcome of what was going to happen towards the end. I still found this entertaining and cannot wait for the next book in this series. This book series has definitely made me a fan of the work of Mr. Pirog. I look forward to reading more of his work and recommend it to anyone who is on the fence regarding whether to pick this author or not.

Whew! Even better than the 1st.

Wow. Talk about fast-paced. Nick Pirog wastes no words in his story telling. In this, the 2nd novel in the Maddy Young saga, a couple of interesting and important issues come into the light. And even though they make total sense, are completely surprising. But the story lines are far from resolution, and Pirog has me hooked. I *must* read on!

I loved the book. The story was good too.

I gave a five rating because I can't help myself. The whole story seems so original and outstanding. I'm really not a big fan of science fiction, but since being on Goodreads and exposed to many excellent writers, I'm growing more fond of them. Anyway, I hope to read your next novel.

Twisty turny other worldy.

Had to give this book a go after reading the first book in this saga, but wasn't disappointed.

The characters are rich and likable, with flawed human sides. Maddy's decency seems real.

The plot keeps you wanting more and makes guessing what might happen next a fun experience.

All in all a good read.

The One REVEALED!

I won't be a killjoy and tell you who it is, but trust me, it was worth the wait. Nick Pirog's writing makes the reading to get there, totally makes the wait worthwhile!

Can't wait for Book 3!

The only reason I'm not giving these books 5 stars is because after reading the first one, in the author's notes, he said he'd have more out by the time I found & read them. But there were no more books in this series, so I was very disappointed in that! lol
