Daoma Winston was a prolific writer of Gothic romance and horror/thriller novels. All of her novels have a strong occult theme and usually feature ghosts, witches, demons or magic. (Not "Golden Tramp.")
I didn't know what to expect when I read this novel. I bought it because of the excellent cover painting (a different painting to the one pictured above, and by an uncredited artist) and also because I have never read a 1970s gothic of this type. It was very engaging, but the ending kind of fell flat in a very sudden way, which was somewhat disappointing. Would I recommend it? Well, yes. I would. But don't expect too much.
I figured out who the culprit was almost as soon as the character was mentioned, I'm fairly certain that most people would. I never understand why some writers pretty much give away a big chunk of the mystery and then write the reveal as though it's still supposed to be a mystery.
The story was decent and gave me a little chill here and there, or maybe that was the air conditioner. The characters weren't that interesting but nothing to complain about.
Daoma Winston once again managed to insult fat people.
