It's the day of Kirsty's school disco! But Jade the Disco Fairy's magic ribbon is still missing, and without it the disco is going to be a complete disaster. Kirsty and Rachel need a plan, and fast!

Rachel and Kristy went to a disco party in the school. No one could dance because the disco ribbon was gone. A goblin was there guarding it, but he was good at dancing because he had the ribbon. He was in disguise so Kristy didn't recognize him. Rachel and Kristy are in a different school so Rachel didn't either. Kristy thought he was someone's little brother. The goblin couldn't stop dancing but he had to get out of the room because Jack Frost had told him to hide. He danced on the desk tops of a classroom in the school. Then he saw Rachel and Kristy were following him. Rachel and Kristy found Jade and they all tried to get the ribbon back.
children's fantasy summary – Kristy Tate, Rachel her friend and Jade, the dance fairy, fight Jack Frost the goblin over some magic ribbons that make parties a success. The ribbons rightful owners are the dance fairies and Jack Frost has stolen them and is wreaking havoc on the school dance. Jade turns the girls into fairies and they all are in hot pursuit of the ribbon. Of course the girls win the ribbon back and the goblin is defeated, actually bowled over with a disco ball. The girls are eager to do it all again. This is a series of Dance Fairies books, for those eager chapter book readers.
strengths/weaknesses - Repetitive and simple story, but good for that age group.
personal critique - This book is not for me, but for girls that play make believe skits it is food for their imagination. I always prefered the Saddle Club series for my girls. It is nice that it is a series, so if your girl loves the first one, you have plenty for her to check out from the library.
illustrations - This is a chapter book, with a small simple sketch at the beginning of the chapter.
notable - there is an online website to play games with more fairy magic and extra printables.
Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic. Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies. On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon! If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!
There are seven Dance fairies and they are: Bethany the Ballet Fairy, Jade the Disco Fairy, Rebecca the Rock 'n' Roll Fairy, Tasha the Tap Dance Fairy, Jessica the Jazz Fairy, Saskia the Salsa Fairy and Imogen the Ice Dance Fairy. Their magic ribbons are needed to help people dance properly. The goblins are drawn to music that matches their ribbon and feel the need to dance. They also temporarily gain ice magic and ability to freeze people. Rachel is staying with Kirsty again and they need to help the fairies!
Hold tight to the ribbons, please. You goblins now may feel a breeze. I'm summoning a hurricane. To take the ribbons away again. But, goblins, you'll be swept up too, For I have work for you to do. Guard each ribbon carefully, By using this new power to freeze.
ok, I'll admit that this one made me laugh. the chaos of a school disco dance was made very real to me. I loved the imagery. the story was fairly basic and they don't use any new tricks that's they haven't done before. also, looks like the goblins made themselves big again.
my favorite part is when the little boy that was actually dressed up as a boy but was a goblin and it danced and danced and at the end he was tired and the charm from the chocolate fairy came out and then he said i would have won without the shoes

I don't know if these books are starting to grow on me or if I'm just getting soft, but this book didn't irritate me nearly as much as the others did. It was pretty funny and I can see how my oldest is enthralled by this series (The Dance Fairies.) She really enjoys reading them on her own and I am so glad to see it! So far these are 5-10 minute reads for me, but she can finish one in a day or two if she is reading a lot.
Nov 2011 update: our youngest is now immersing herself in this series and is reading them very quickly. Hooray!
I have a feeling that I am never going to get dancing goblins out of my head....NOT that it's a bad thing.
These books just do not disappoint. Once again, another wonderful book bringing you along for the ride of trying to save some kind of magic. Bad dancing, goblin with bad fashion and disco how can you go wrong? My daughter loved how they got the ribbon back and I can't wait to see how the rest of the Dance fairies get theirs back as well.
I needed a light, quick, fun read last night. And this fit the bill.
Rachel and Kristy go to their school disco dance only to find that Jade, the disco fairy's ribbon has been stolen and nobody can dance without her magic - they are clumsy and falling all over each other. So they, along with Jade, go to get the ribbon back from the Goblin who stole it.
This book made me want to disco all the way home from school. This was a great book. You should read it. I liked it until me and my friend Shayla found out about Cam Jansen books. Go Cam go! Otherwise known as GCg. Please comment on this review. I'm 7 years old and don't get a lot of attention.
In this book, I liked how Kirsty and Rachel tried to dance in the school's talent show, but Jade's magic ribbon was missing so they did their steps wrong. But things always work out with Rainbow Magic books!
I liked this book because it makes me want to dance and because it is funny seeing what the goblin is wearing. I also thought that Jade would actually ask for the ribbon instead of saying '' I believe you have my ribbon and would like it back, thank you very much''.
In this book, Rachel and Kirsty help Jade the disco fairy find her magic dancing ribbon. When Rachel and Kirsty find out that Jack Frost started stealing the ribbons in Bethany the Ballet Fairy it's been a non-stop adventure with the goblins holding onto the dance ribbons.

this book was very good !!!!!!!!!!!!! i read it aloud to my dad and he fell asleep ! a great bedtime story !!!!!!!!!! my aunt sent this to me because she is a librarian and she couldn't resist because MY NAME is jade !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am 13 years old
Rachel and Kirsty have a disco party at their school and the goblins sneak into one of the classrooms. They started dancing on one of the desks. The goblins started running and Jade conjured up a disco ball with her fairy magic and Rachel rolled it down where the goblin was running and tripped him.
There was a goblin running down the hall with the ribbon and Kirsty was a really good bowler and Jade made a sparkling disco ball and Kirsty bowled down the goblin.
Jade the disco fairy is trying to get her magic ribbon back out of the human world so all people can dance again. If you believe in fairies then you would like this whole series.
Rachel & Kirsty are at a disco party but the party is going crazy and no-one is dancing well. But one person is dancing well…could it be the goblin with the magic dance feather. L.A.
My favorite part was the beginning and the end because Rachel used a mirror ball to bowl the goblin down. At the beginning she won the bowling game. So Kristen thought that Rachel could get the goblin down in a stoke!
