Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton, England on November 15, 1958. She received a degree in English from Birmingham University in 1980. After having taught in primary and secondary schools for several years she began to write full-time. Dhami has published many retellings of popular Disney stories and wrote the Animal Stars and Babes series, the latter about young British girls of Asian origin. She lives in Cambridge, England with her husband and cats.
Sue Bentley was born in Northampton, England. She worked in a library after completing her education and began writing for children once her own began school. Bentley is the author of the Magic Kitten, Magic Puppy, and S Club series and lives in Northamptonshire.
Linda Chapman has written over 50 children's fiction books, including the following series: My Secret Unicorn, Stardust, Not Quite a Mermaid, and Unicorn School. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and daughters.
Sue Mongredien was born in 1970 and grew up in Nottingham, England. She has published over 100 children's books, including the following series: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Magic Key, Frightful Families, and Oliver Moon. She has also contributed many titles to the Sleepover Club series and written picture books. Mongredien created the Royal Ballet School Diaries under the pen name Alexandra Moss. She lives with her family in Bath, England.

This series is SOOOOOO repetitive. I will list this book, and leave off the 10 others my daughter brought home from the various series.
Plot: Two girls named Rachel and Kirsty once met some fairies and helped them find some of their lost stuff. Now the fairies apparently lose a batch of stuff (to their unhappy nemesis Jack Frost) every time the girls have a few days off of school, and the girls get called in to help recover the items, one per day, creating a new series. Jack Frost steals the fairy things (wands, ribbons, etc) and then scatters them across the human world with his goblins working to keep the items hidden. The fairies are able to cast some moderating spells so that the items turn up wherever the girls happen to be. Then the girls spot the item or goblins, the fairy associated with the item turns up to help, she turns the girls into fairies for part of the adventure, the girls come up with a clever way to get the item back, and then they all get swept off to fairyland to be thanked by the king and queen.

Rachel and Kristy went to a fiesta. There is a parade and one of the floats is a tropical island place and on it is salsa dancers dressed as birds. They're actually dancing really well so Rachel and Kristy think that the ribbon might be on the float. Two of the dancers are goblins. Rachel and Kristy had already found Saskia so Saskia turns Rachel and Kristy into fairies so they can fly over and not be seen. They go over and notice that on one of the goblin's tails is Saskia's orange ribbon. The bird dancer goblins ran off the float and over to a tree because they noticed the fairies. The bird goblins make noises like birds but they didn't sound at all like birds. Saskia made Rachel and Kristy blend in with the leaves on the tree so they could sneak up on the goblins and take the ribbon from the goblin's tail. They got the ribbon back and Saskia took it back to Fairy Land. The dancers were good at dancing again.

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

There are seven Dance fairies and they are: Bethany the Ballet Fairy, Jade the Disco Fairy, Rebecca the Rock 'n' Roll Fairy, Tasha the Tap Dance Fairy, Jessica the Jazz Fairy, Saskia the Salsa Fairy and Imogen the Ice Dance Fairy. Their magic ribbons are needed to help people dance properly. The goblins are drawn to music that matches their ribbon and feel the need to dance. They also temporarily gain ice magic and ability to freeze people. Rachel is staying with Kirsty again and they need to help the fairies!
Hold tight to the ribbons, please.
You goblins now may feel a breeze.

If the youngsters who read these books learn anything from them apart from:
Jack Frost is a dastardly fellow
Goblins are apparently pretty useless at everything and always get fooled, and apparently have quite large noses.
The only way people have any talent is from some magical element held by fairies
Fairies are really bad at keeping important things secure.
So apart from those, the one thing they will learn which actually may be helpful is they learn the names of the different styles of dance, and so I guess there is a positive amongst what is essentially one tale written in a thousand different ways.

A predictable story which follows the same structure as the other fairy books I’ve read. Can see why these are popular with the children in our school.

Our oldest is so excited. She only has one book left to read in The Dance Fairies: Isabelle The Ice Dance Fairy. She says that she wants to start The Petal Fairies series next and I am so glad that these books are igniting that spark in her. She reads them quickly and seems to love each one. I've been reading them along with her, especially since they are quick reads. I wonder how long it will take her little sister to start in on them. Somehow I don't think it will take two years...
Dec 2011 update: My youngest finished this book, too, and is looking forward to reading the last book in the series. This is the first Rainbow Magic fairy series she has read and I am sure she will read more.

Q1: Favourite Character and why?
My favourite character is Saskia because she is the main character and just generally inspiring
She makes me want to eat salsa when i read it. even though it isn't about the food Salsa at all it is still amazing. In actual fact it is about the Salsa dance which is my favourite dance now that i have read this awe-inspiring book.
Q2:What is the plot?
There's these two goblins pretending to be a bird and they forgot all about their hiding because they were fighting and Kirsty and Rachel told Saskia(Who's name is Serena now!!!!!!11!!111!!) to turn them orange and turn their outfits into leaf dresses and she did and so they got the ribbon.
Overall this was a fantastic read and i would rate it 24/10

In this book, I liked how the goblins were dancing on the float and they were dressed up as birds. But when they realized that the girls were trying to get the magic ribbon, the goblins ran away up into a tree (because that's where birds live). It was funny.
