The Puzzle Files of Larry Logic

Rate this book
Ominous shadows. Dark, rain-drenched streets. A hard-boiled detective in his trench coat. That's the magic and atmosphere of film noir—and the fun behind this unique, interconnected book of puzzles. Meet Larry Logic, a small-town cop with detective skills to rival Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe—except Larry solves crimes using keen logical reasoning instead of his fists. Solvers can test their own abilities as they help Larry crack his cases. Each group of puzzles tells a mini-story in which all the answers combine into one final whodunit. See if you have what it takes to solve alongside Larry Logic!

I wouldn't normally review a puzzle book on here, but this is the best set of logic problems I've ever come across and I'm absurdly sad that I've finished it. The book is divided into ten crimes with excellent titles like The Case of the Locomotive Loco Motive and The Case of the Unknown Calzone. Each uses a unique solving system and a unique set of rules, so you can dispense with those traditional logic-puzzle grids pretty quickly. Each chapter ends with a larger mystery that uses information you've gleaned from the earlier puzzles. And at the very end of the book, there's an overarching puzzle that sources information from all of the previous cases, so you'd better hope you haven't made any mistakes...

It's nerdy and themey and difficult. Wish I could start all over and do it again.
