He first collides with them by trying to cleverly find solutions to the people's problems, but is quickly humbled by the understanding that they have dealt with every contingency before and that the modern solutions they have sometimes shunned do not come from stubborn ignorance but from a deeper understanding of the nature of their problems. From awkward collision to happy collusion, the boy learns to find ways to engage with the agricultural, social, culinary and cultural life of this Upper Egyptian village as he tries to make friends, prove his worth to his family, stay connected with Cairo and ultimately grow up."

لاحظت أن ما يستدرج الاطفال فى الكتب الاجنبية للناشئة والمراهقين، هى الكتب التى تُكتب بأسلوب اليوميات. فهذا اسلوب بسيط، قريب من حياتهم ومن مشاعرهم الكبيرة التى لا يحسنون التعبير عنها بكلمات كثيرة.

كان ذكاء من المؤلفة ان تكتب هذه القصة باسلوب اليوميات، واستطاعت جذب انتباهى منذ السطور الاولى للكتاب.
فهى لعبت على وتيرة المشكلة الكبرى للمراهق، الا وهى "الملل" و"الرفض" لاى شىء قد يغير من اسلوب حياته.

استطاعت المؤلفة ان تجذب تلك المراهق الملول بذكاء وبساطة الى عالم ابعد ما يكون عن عالمه، لا يعرف عنه شيئا، وما عرفه عنه فى البداية لم يكن مشجعا له على الاطلاق.

الاخراج الفنى للكتاب أيضاً كان رائعاً. رسوم ياسر جعيصة الخفيفة والجميلة مع "فونت" الخط المستخدم فى الكتابة كان مزيجاً جذاباً للعين.

هو بداية جيدة نتمنى ان تتحسن الى الافضل فيما بعد.

كتاب صغير ظريف مكتوب ببراعة وذكاء.

بطل الرواية طالب في المرحلة الإعدادية اضطرته ظروف العائلة لترك حياته القاهرية والذهاب لقضاء سنة في الصعيد.

اختار الشاب أن يكتب مذكراته ليستعين بها على احتمال وضعه الجديد، اختيار الكاتبة لأسلوب كتابة المذكرات كان موفقا للغاية، جعل الكتاب خفيف الظل مملوءا بالأحاسيس والانطباعات.

الرواية مكتوبة باللغة العربية الفصحى البسيطة التي تتناسب مع كاتبها المراهق، تناولت العديد من الأمور التي قابلها وكيف استطاع ان يتعامل مع المشكلات ويقدر الاختلافات بين القرية والمدينة، ويحاول الاندماج والاستمتاع بمميزات الريف والطبيعة التي لم يكن يلتفت لها في حياته القاهرية المزدحمة.

يحرم ابناء المدينة من تجارب الحياة الحقيقة، ويسجنون في قوالب جامدة، وحياتهم مليئة بالتوتر والعصبية، يلفت نظر الشاب الصغير الألعاب التي يلعبونها بلا منافسة وبلا فوز وخسارة ويتعجب لأن حياته كلها قائمة على فكرة المنافسة والصراع حتى في اللعب.

الكتاب من إصدارات دار البلسم، اخراج الكتاب متميز للغاية ورسومه بسيطة ومعبرة.

أعجبني هذا الكتاب كثيرا حتى أني قمت بانهائه في جلسه واحدة ولم اتركه حتى وصلت إلى الصفحة الأخيرة. اسلوب الكتابة سلس وجذاب والأحداث برغم بساطتها فانها ممتعة، كما انها ابتعدت عن اكليشيهيات قصص الاطفال التي اعتدناها حتى مللناها.

ربما ما جعل هذا الكتاب يؤثر في أكثر هو أنني ولدت في الصعيد وتربيت هناك ثم أتييت للقاهرة وأنا أواجه المجهول للمرة الأولى، فأعجبني أن أرى الأمر من الناحية المعكوسة؛ ابن القاهرة الذي يواجه الصعيد للمرة الأولى.

أتمنى أن أرى المزيد من أدب الطفل في مصر مثل هذا العمل المتميز.

برعت الكاتبة هديل غنيم في نقل مشاعر بطل القصة والتعايش مع مراحل تطور شخصيته والتعرف على نفسه من خلال كتابة مذكراته ليكتشف نقاط ضعفه وقوته التي مكنته من تقبل مشاعر الغربة و التعامل معها و الاندماج الجزئي في مجتمعه الجديد.

كتاب مهم جدا للأطفال. أنا نفسي استمتعت بيه جداً. القصة تدور أحداثها في قنا التي جاءت إليها أسرة الراوي للبقاء مع الجدة المريضة. ومن خلال لسان الراوي نتعرف على عادات الصعيد المختلفة جدا عن الحياة في القاهرة التي جاء منها. الأسلوب بسيط والرسامات جميلة واعتقد ممكن نشجع الطفل على تلوينها.

اول كام صفحة من الكتاب كنت حاسة ان الكلام مش كله ماشي و ان حتة من الشمال و حتة من اليمين.... بس كل ما تقرأه اكتر تحس ان القصة اخدتك جواها اكتر و اكتر.....و ده بالظبط اللي بطل القصة حسه و ده كان سبب اساسي في سحر القصة

ان يبقي فيه رواية مصرية بالشكل للمرحلة اللي بين ١٠ سنين و انت طالع حاجة بالنسبالي مبهرة .... لان الادب المصري عادة بيكتب للاطفال الصغيرين بس .... رواية لطيفة جدا ... مصرية جدا .... جدل الشهور القبطية في للاحداث معمول بشكل بسيط و من غير تنظير ولا اننا ندي محاضرة و معلومات بشكل مباشر للاطفال زي ما بيحصل في معظم كتب الاطفال المصرية ... الرسوم لطيفة جدا بس كانت ممكن تبقي اقل من كدة طفولية.

رحلة رائعة إلى صعيد مصر يأخذها طفل قاهري إلى صعيد جدته الحبيبة حيث تحكي له حكايات مواسم مصر فألف الأرض وغيطها وطريقة العيش التي كانت بعيدة عنه في خياله فصار صعيديا بقلبه واصبح ينتظر حصاد الكركديه ليعود مرة أخرى إلى أرض جدته الغالية .

اختلاف جذرى طرأ على حياه طفل بعد انتقاله من القاهره الى قنا.

هديل غنيم’s *سنة في قنا* (A Year in Qena) is a beautiful mix of cultural exploration, tradition, and personal growth, all told through the eyes of a boy from Cairo. One of the things that struck me the most is how much it resonates with anyone who has experienced the contrast between urban life and rural traditions. The book takes us into the heart of Upper Egypt, where the boy spends a year adapting to a slower pace of life, which is different from what he used to.

From the very beginning, the story is filled with Egyptian proverbs, local customs, and Egyptian food, like "الفايش." These touches make the book immediately relatable to anyone with roots in Egypt. The way غنيم combines these elements into the boy’s journey makes it easy to connect and resonate with the boy and the place. It felt like walking through familiar streets, hearing echoes of family conversations and long-held traditions. One of the unique things in this book is that it captivates the readers by providing hints of Egyptian history regarding ancient pharaohs and how they named their months according to agriculture. This shows the brilliance of pharaohs and plants a seed in children to appreciate their history.

The boy’s character development was fascinating to watch. Over time, you can feel his mindset shifting as he learns to adapt. His initial discomfort slowly evolves into a deeper understanding of village life, and by the end, it’s clear how much he’s grown. The character’s journey is incredibly relatable, especially for those who have moved between regions or spent time with extended family in the villages as many people tend to go to their relatives in the different places of Egypt. I feel like this book doesn’t just speak to those who visit the villages; it also invites those who live there to reflect on the customs and beliefs they may be following blindly.

The choice of a diary style was excellent because it made the reader feel more connected and believe what is said. The idea that the boy wrote that he cried, for example, makes the reader feel like he is keeping secrets of the boy. The idea that the author made it seem as if the boy forgot times in the end made it more realistic and more interesting to read, and it further highlights that problems reduce in their magnitude over time. This was showcased by how one day, the boy is overcome with emotions regarding a matter, and then a month later, it becomes completely fine or has adapted to that matter.

The illustrations were not vivid, but they were warm to see, representing what we usually see daily. They reminded me of what I know as I am passing by using the car.

If I had to offer a critique, it would be to add more pages showing the experience of returning to Cairo and how the mindset has changed in dealing with the same people again. That would have been interesting to see. I would also add that the idea of “having to win” in order to gain respect is something negotiable, as I imagine how a child would react to reading this. They would probably feel pressure to “win” somehow. To a girl, for instance, or a boy who cannot play football or is differently abled, how would they “win”?

In conclusion, سنة في قنا is a valuable contribution to Egyptian children’s literature. It provides readers with insights on change and adaptability while reflecting on their lives and traditions.
