Those are the very words that Mason McIntyre has lived by for most of his adult life. The single life is the one he craves. The one that suits him. A different girl in his bed each weekend, with no ties. It’s the only way to be. But, what will happen when he finally meets a girl who dares to say no? What will happen when the challenge of that one unobtainable girl becomes something else? What will happen when the player finally gets played?
Niamh Knight doesn’t like players, especially ones who have slept with most of her friends. A pretty face doesn’t impress her, but when that pretty face becomes connected to a man who won’t give up his fight for her, how long will she be able to keep her guard up? She tries to stay away, tries not to fall for his charm. But, will the player finally win his prize?
Both are faced with a challenge. One like they’ve never faced before. Can the player finally settle down with only one girl? And, can that girl trust the player? They know one thing for certain. It’s like the blind leading the blind … Into The Dark.
After being married for ten years and raising three beautiful kids I decided it was time to do something for myself. My passion for reading bled over with a need to tell the story that was repeating in my head and that was the birth of my first book. The rest they say is history.
I love the creative release that writing gives you, being able to take someone away to a different world feels amazing. As a reader I know how important that escape is, and as a writer I love to be able to give people that.
My other loves include music and reading (in case I haven't mentioned that before) and then when I have time a little more reading. I think if I could read for a living I would, but since I can't I will continue on the writing side of things.
Firstly, let me start off with, I love this book cover. It's sexy, seductive and draws you in. Secondly, Niamh. First time I've heard this name and again, love it!!!
***** This book was not what I expected at all. It was difficult to review.
We're introduced to Mason McIntyre. Arrogant, man-whore extraordinaire. If it has tits and a skirt, he's most likely between and under it. Or been there done that. The man would flirt with a dog! Once it's female of course.
Ms.McKay set a great premise for introducing Mason. For me, it was toooooo much. Nearly 50% of the book was about Mason's philandering ways. Even though it was nice being inside Mason's head, it turned into unnecessary mindless babble. There are somethings that should be left to the imagination. Mason has been hurt in the past and hence the reason for his womanizing. All efforts have been doubled and tripled into remaining unattached and unaffected. Arrogant asshole is what the women like, so he gives it to them. No, Mr.Nice guy.
The next 20% of this book was about Rocco and Makenzie. Rocco's troubles and his attraction to Makenzie, and then Mason's plight to help Rocco get the girl. Or rather help the girl understand the man, that's trying to get her. Mason is a wonderful friend. It shines through in this book more than being a player.
Enter Niamh Knight, a nurse, with an attitude, and a hater towards all players and man-whores. T.A. McKay solidifies this by making Niamh disgusted with Mason after Niamh catches him sneaking out of her roommate's room, after a one night stand. It gets my blood boiling when as much as Niamh wants to hate Mason, she lusts after him, and calls out his name while in the throes of passion with another. Oooolallllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! whistle whistle. :):)
Niamh's character was strong willed and fierce, however, character development for me was lacking. I understood why she fought against Mason's charms. She didn't want to be another one night stand. But! hmmm....... she was tooo over the top without any reason. Niamh didn't know Mason, but she hates him. He's a player and what does that have to do with her?? How does it affect her???? I didn't understand her emotions. It's like, as a child, we're all naive and innocent. Then when the real world hits us, our mindset changes through experiences. The naivete is lost and we harden ourselves against the world. More time should have been spent on developing Niamh's character and giving us some insight into who she is.
The last 30% was a mix between Rocco's story and Mason and Niamh getting together. Their story was rushed and it should have been summed up into a short story rather than this length book. The short story would have been better.
My fav quote is:
All of you must be wondering, after this diatribe, what the heck is with the 3 star rating. Well... as I mentioned.... it was difficult to review.
1 1/2 stars for the cover, 1/2 star for Niamh's name. It was unique and exotic. and 1 star for Mason being himself. I loved that he didn't make excuses and had no regrets for being who he is after his painful past. He stayed true to the new him and also kept his gentle hearted ways, when it came to those he truly loved.

First things first – YOU MUST READ THIS (and its predecessor Into The Deep!)
If you love bromance, a hot, sarcastic, thinks with his dick man and a fierce female heroine who isn’t easy then this book is perfect for you! And if you’ve read TA Mckay’s first book, Into The Deep, then you won’t be disappointed. Everything she offers with that book is in this one – and more!
He’s a player with a cause and it’s a little gut wrenching to read! I love that TA Mckay has done that again. Her characters have a cause and they each have their own personalities that shine so brightly you just absorb them and love them all. And what’s better, TA has done it again by offering a strong female lead who doesn’t whine and moan and annoy. Niamh is exactly what someone like Mason McIntyre needs and I loved the pair of them as much as I loved Rocco with Mckenzie!
Also, I was more than a little excited when she brought in more of Rocco’s story with Mckenzie! I loved having more insight of that, seeing some of the first book’s scene from another point of view was such an amazing treat!
In all, this was total consumption – the book, me and Mason.
So in short... Rocco and Mckenzie – LOVE. Mason and Niamh – LOVE, LOVE. Noah and Madison – I NEED THIS NOW!
Mason McIntyre is not the guy you would take home to meet your parents. You would however take him to bed, if only for one night. As they saying goes 'variety is the spice of life' Mason lives his life enjoying beautiful women without getting attached. Niamh Knight spends her life caring for others. She has an attitude she isn't afraid to show should you push her. Not overly impressed with a pretty face when Mason and Niamh's paths cross its not love at first sight. In fact it's not love at second sight either. Can they see past their first impressions of each other to see whats staring them in the face? I loved following this story. It's ups and downs, twists and turns will have you refusing to put it down. Dirty talking, hot sex, and ultimate sweetness will have you falling in love with these characters from the get go! Pat yourself on the back T.A.McKay, you've got another winner!
TA McKay has done it again with another fantastic story!
We have the cheeky 'bad boy' Mason with his 'I'm sexy & I know it' attitude that you can't help but love. Vs The feisty & stubborn Niamh with her 'plain Jane' complex.
They are the perfect match neither knows they need.
Can the perpetual playboy change his ways for the feisty brunette? Can she take the risk of just being another one night stand?
Watching them interact together is hilarious, I wanted to both hug & throttle them throughout. You will laugh (& probably snorty laugh) cry, swoon & scream. I devoured this book in one day, much to the horror of my other half. (Don't feel sorry for him he had sports to watch.) it is unputdownable.
I loved Into The Deep (Into The #1) so getting certain scenes from an alternate point of view was fantastic, as was getting more of the characters we met in the first instalment throughout. This feeds my greedy 'I need more' nature! I can't wait for book 3.
Ok, so I knew I would love Mason but damn...the man blew my panties right off. T.a.'s writing has grown so much with this book and there's not a doubt in my mind that there are more great things to come from this amazing author. Can't wait for more T.a.! Write on sister!! xoxo
I liked this book. It drew me in from the first page and I didn't put it down until I was finished. (yes, I devoured it in one sitting!). This book was naughty, sexy, sweet, hot, funny, and had one strong heroine who could hold her on and give our hero a run for his money. This book is part of a series but I did not read book one prior to this book and was totally fine.
This is Niamh and Mason's story. Mason has been hurt in the past so he has a hard exterior. He doesn't do feelings. One night stands and no strings are his motto in life. When Niamh sees Mason leaving her roommate's bed, she is disgusted. But there is something the bad boy... the one is unobtainable that makes her blood boil and also her mind thick with lust. But the more she is around Mason the more she is drawn to him. But can Mason be tamed? Will Niamh be able to find love with Mason? Will these two get their happy ending?
Ugh! I wanted to smack Mason many times throughout the first part of this book at his rudeness and cockiness. I had a love/hate relationship with him for most of this book. But his dirty talk... mmm yes please! Now I did love Niamh. I totally admired Niamh's strength and determination. Yes she could hold her on and was strong! I liked Niamh and Mason together.
I am just going to say now before I go any further, this book should come with a warning 'Hazardous to ALL delicate materials!!' Ah Mason *sighs* this man is a fun, charming and oh so sexy character so ladies be warned in advance haha. I absolutely loved Into The Deep so I was very excited to pick up Into The Dark and learn more about the delectable Mason and Tracey does not disappoint or let anyone down with this book. As the book progresses you learn more about Mason and his character and why he is the way he is and does the things he does, its kind of like peeling back the layers and working towards his luxurious center. To begin with he's all front and a bit of a playboy who's only interests are looking out for Rooco and which lucky lady will be escorting him home. However the more the book goes on the more more you see the changes in him after he meets Niamh. I will leave it there and not give anymore away, if you want to know more GO BUY THE BOOK!! Tracey has this amazing way of writing that makes you feel like you are a part of the book, that you are right in there with her characters and that you are living all of the feelings and emotions going on. She has this way of pulling you into her world and making it so you don't want to leave and lets be honest with Mason and Rocco who does really want to leave!!
The second in the Into series and It didn't disappoint in the slightest. Very different feel to the first book...instead of sweet and loving we had brash and cocky. Mason...Mason...Mason there were many times I wanted to smack you and tape your mouth shut...literally.He was the epitome of bad boy...hit it and quit it...no regrets...just walk away until.... Niamh...she was feisty...knew what she wanted and Mason absolutely was not it!....he was everything she despised but still.... Do they ever get together? If they do will Mason ever change? Can they really find a balance and their HEA? Read it...Mason changed my mind about him....can he change yours? I'm addicted to this hot series and I'm ready for more......please.....
T.A. McKay did it again the Mason and Niamh's story. I love a playboy and Mason definitely fits the bill and plays the part well. Niamh sparks something in him though. Something that neither can explain. This story will leave you intrigued to figure out what it is and turning the pages until the end!!!
Eagerly awaited, eagerly read. I think I just fell in love with Mason, even if I did want to bash his head against the wall every now and then. I loved how I got to see snippets of Rocco and Mackenzie throughout. In a nutshell I loved it, would recommend it and can't wait to read the next one!!! Definitely worth the 5 stars I've given it :) x
OMG, I thought I loved Rocco, but I think I love Mason more!!! Mason is definitely more of a bad boy! He's sexy as hell and has a rough exterior. But once he meets Niamh for the "first" time, his inner self begins to show, and I love it. Especially when his bad boy attitude doesn't work on her, it just pisses her off. I can't wait for the next book!
Awww....That was such a good book! I woke up this morning and was a little upset that I have finished it! I can't wait to meet the other guys in this series but Mason will always be THE ONE ;) Keep 'em coming Ms. McKay
Mason and Niamh... WOW!! Completely loved this story & I could NOT put it down!! T.A McKay did brilliantly!! I definitely suggest this book, as well as Into The Deep!!! Both are, for sure, MUST READS!!!
Mason McIntyre is a cocky, egotistical, over confident twenty something. But boy do you just end up loving him. Despite his sleeping around you can't help but laugh at this incredibly cheeky chappy.
After reading T A Mckays first book recently and only getting a brief glimpse into Mason it was really nice to get his perspective. Fill in the gaps of time with the last story, while giving us an insight into his life, his desires, and quite simply his ways with the ladies ;) ---------- Excerpt "The only thing that bears a drunken numbness is finding your happiness being balls deep in a hot woman. Smiling to myself, I grab my body wash and get ready to find the happiness I need." ----------
But it's not just Mason we meet in this story. The girl who knocks his sock off and turns his world upside down; Niamh. This brilliant young woman is just what he needs. The one woman who turns him down, makes him doubt himself and his ways and simply won't leave Masons head from the moment they meet.
---------- Excerpt: "I don't know if it's the wine or just the reaction I have to this man, but my body temperature rises and I feel my heart trying to burst out my chest...this Mason knocks that Mason out of the water a thousand times over." ----------
But when the chance arises for the pair to connect will it only be physical? The consequences will be life changing and might this be what finally makes Mason change his womanising ways?
A really good read...But it took me longer to connect to than the first book. But definitely well worth the tears and tissue overload towards the end. 4* rating!
After reading the blurb for this book and seeing that this book was Masons' story, I expected it to be full of humour.
However, it was a look into Masons life. What made him change into this 'man whore' as the book describes him. After his girlfriend cheated on him, he went his own way and decided he would never love another woman...that was until Niamh came into his life.
Both characters are stubborn and they fight their feelings until one night Niamh stops by and their one night of passion results in a pregnancy. Mason can't get his head around the fact he is going to be a daddy until he gets the phone call telling him that Niamh is in hospital and she could lose the baby...his life changed because that was the moment he grew a pair and stood up to look after the love of his life.
Then he planned a wedding before the baby came along...which of course Niamh said YES.
A Bab girl is what came from this book.
I did prefer book 1 of the series, but it was good to see Mason settle down in the end.
DNF. I got about halfway through this book before I gave up. Its supposed to be a romance, but the H and h only met about twice and said about 4 words to each other by the time I was halfway through the book. It was not well written..choppy and stilted sounding writing. The first half of the book was a traipse through Masons sex life, from one girl to the next..not something that interests me when I want to read a romance. Sure some background is fine...but half the book? boring and way too much crap before the Heroine is even introduced. And he comes off as a real asshole who does nothing but get drunk, have sex and pass out. If I lived my life that way I would be headed for a real downfall..how does he even have time to work? Let alone do a good job at owning his own business. Sounds like an alcoholic sex addict more that a romantic hero. Who in their right mind would even WANT to fall in love with someone that bad? NOT RECOMMENDED!
I LOVE the Into The series and its characters. Into the Dark is a great story (Mason 's story) and it provides a little more perspective on the story told in the first book of the series (Into the Deep).
Into the Dark didn't draw me in quite as much as the first book. I'm not exactly sure why, although as one of my all time favorites Into the Deep was a tough act to follow. I didn't really connect with Niamh like I did Makenzie, which could be it. Regardless this was truly a great story and well written. If you enjoyed Into the Deep, this is a must read!
I am anxiously awaiting Into the Fire (Noah's story)! Loved the sneak peek at the end of this book!
I am new to this author but I really liked her writing style. This is the second book in the series which I believe replays moments from book 1 from another POV. I really enjoyed this book and will be going back to read book 1. The characters are realistic and believable the plot is engaging and contains a few twists. There is drama, humour and of course hot scenes which are well written.
I really liked this book but took a lot to get to like Mason, there is nothing I dislike more than a man who can't keep his dick in his pants, but glad it turned out good. Really like Rocco and Makenzie
