Each Geronimo Stilton book is fast-paced, with lively full-color art and a unique format kids 7-10 will love.
Rancid rat hairs, the cat pirates are coming to town! They're planning on stealing New Mouse City's Statue of Liberty and taking it back to Cat Island. They think it's completely made of gold! My friends and I are determined to protect our city's precious symbol. But can we stop these fearsome felines?

I loved this book because it was really funny but it was not that great . my favourite character in this book was Catordon because he was the boss of the pirate cats and was very stupid. my favourite part of this book was when the two kids of Catordon was hiding and listening to what the two new pirates were talking about. the funniest part was when a few of them escaped to the land of new mouse city and grabbed a speedboat, they were stung by bees. the part I did not like about the book was when Catordon was using a lot of electricity because it was quite boring.
it was a fun, simpel, little story, if i would be 10 y/o i will probably give it a 4 or 5 star rating. I just saw this on the shelf and thought why not, I never have read a stilton book before :)
I borrowed this book from an instructor when I asked her for books that would be good for beginners in Italian. I enjoyed the story and learned a lot of new vocabulary, but I'm not sure I would qualify this as one fit for those who are just starting out. First of all, there are a lot of made-up words and expressions. Most are just wordplays on cats and mice, which are not hard to identify. But others are more difficult to distinguish, and even when we can recognize the wordplays, it is not always evident for language learners as to what the correct word or expression should be. Second of all, there are a lot of vocabulary that just aren't taught in class. And this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when the author uses five different words to mean "shout," it can get a bit confusing.
I definitely see why it's appealing to kids. I have never even opened one of them before, so the brightly varied fonts were a pleasant and amusing surprise. I felt like it really would help kids to learn how to better understand meaning from context. I also wonder if it encourages kids to use stronger action verbs and more adjectives in their own writing because of the emphasis on unique and funny words. Hmmm... I'd love a parent's or teacher's perspective on this.
I read this book out loud to my five-year-old. She liked it. I did not. I found the characters hard to keep track of, the plot completely obvious, the shifting narration annoying, and the book generally tiresome. I think this could be a good book for a new reader to read to herself but as a read-aloud book I would not recommend it (though Leone would.)
I really liked it, it was very funny when the carrier pigeon pooped on Geronimo's head whenever he comes to deliver a letter. And I didn't know that cats don't like fleas. I laughed when Scout bounced on Catardone's belly. Kitty , Scout, and Oscar are very kind to Geronimo and mouse island. But was the mousey liberty made of gold? And Geronimo did look like a reverse panda.
It was a really good book I loved it about the mystery where where Cataredon IIthe third wanted to Steel the golden statue and Geronimo and bugsy and and Benjamin they were all like defining the plan it was so good. Then the best part was when the cat King had to do the generator pedaling I would like laughing so much at that silently.

This adventure was based on the idea that people should cut back on their electricity consumption. I remember this being a very big issue when I was in elementary school, and reading this book made me think about my own habits concerning electricity use. Definitely a good lesson to teach the kids!
Kept seeing these books in schools while I was subbing, and I decided I wanted to find out why they seemed so popular! Very cute, and a quick read, definitely a great kids' book!
the cats were so dumb to not know that there statue was made out of cheese and they use a lot of electricity and they should have some secret money so they never run out of money.
This boook was about a story that Geronimo told in which catardone's kingdom they were of money to pay the electricity bill so they went to steal mousy liberty for gold but after all it wasn't MADE OF GOLD and they didn't succeed because of geronimo's cat friends
This is a fun book about Geronimo Stilton & his friends. It includes good information about the ecology of the ocean floor, the Statues of Liberty, and practical ways to save energy!
