Last year, jazz singer Eloise Bright walked in—and then out—on her husband when he was about to get even for an imagined indiscretion.
By the time security specialist Rick Mundy realized he should have trusted his wife over the tabloids, it was too late to save their marriage. Now Rick has the opportunity to make amends when he’s assigned to protect Eloise from a new wave of aggressive reporters and vicious rumors on the eve of her breakout tour. Not only is Rick fighting for a second chance against stories of Eloise in an affair with her singing partner, but Eloise is on the verge of losing her professional reputation before her career even takes off.
If they can find the source of the rumors, they could both win. Unfortunately Eloise is only supposed to be in Seattle for a short engagement, which doesn’t leave Rick much time to convince her to give them a private encore.

This book is a quick afternoon read. You feel like you are dumped in the middle of a longer story and rushed to the ending. Both characters are dealing with the stress of false news stories designed to tear them apart and I don't see a real resolve of this aside from "I won't let it bother me" actions speak louder than words and I don't think this came across well in the book. Also, because we start in the middle of a story (the second chance) you do not get the great love affair. You don't know what initially brought them together nor do you feel what still holds them together beside a great sex life. Overall not my favorite short story but not the worst either.
This was a short story about a rising music star and her husband. He was once her favorite person until he thought she was cheating on him. She caught him in the process of the same. Now she needs him for work only. But he has other plans. He wants her back. But will the same fears come back to haunt him? Or can be safe her career?
Interesting read. The author addressed the two issues that were the focal point of the story quite well. The competitive, cutthroat business of the music industry and perceived infidelity and trust issues within a marriage.
Steamy love scenes. ....and a happily ever after? Well, they are working on that.
3.5 stars...I love the story line and I loved the characters. It jumped a bit to get the story to fit into a novella length. Expanding it would do more justice. But, as a first read from this author, it made me want to read another.
