When ex SEAL Connor Malone and his six brothers in arms inherit a plot of land in the small Georgia town they decide it's just what they need to fulfill their dream of staying together stateside. The seven men have lived hard and fought harder all their lives and now all they’re looking forward to is a life of ease running the construction company they've started together.
Connor isn't really looking to settle down. During his years in service he and his brothers had made a pact never to get hitched while they were still signed up. But after their old CO the man who'd been like a father to the seven young men he'd taken under his wing and molded into the men they were today died. They learned some things that didn't sit too well with them so they decided as a team to cash out.
Now their homes are built and the business is going fine. There's just one blur on their otherwise perfect horizon. It seems someone has decided to use their quiet little slice of paradise for illegal activities. Not only that but the young and genteel Danielle Dupree has set her sights on the rough and rugged Connor and no matter what he does he can't seem to shake her. So he does the only thing left for him to do, he takes her. But can the well-bred southern belle and the street kid turned soldier find a balance?
It started so effin good with one single sentence...
„I'm here to fuck you.“
And I was like...
oh boy, made my blood all warm and boily... and he (Connor is his name) was a hot stud demanding, controling ex-SEAL alphaUNTIL he turned into a mother fuckin' crazed up controllin' caveman freak...
who has difficulties in realizing the boundaries of self conduct and he can't fuck HIS woman into an oblivion every fuckin night for several times and then threathen her to give her beating with his belt if she disobeyed him in any way...under the excuse that it's for her protection!!!
are we fuckin twelve?! And she (Danielle) was some kind of a wealthy spoiled little woman who can't stand up for herself cause why?! - she's in love with Connor, so she's playing along with his cavemanish bullshit!!! Pffft!!! Well, suits her right! Fuckin doormat!!!
The fuck would I let him threathen to beat my ass with the belt (unless we're talkin some bdsm playout BUT come to think of it, nah, fuck NO!!! Not even then)
The whole layout was so corny and primaly animalistic like he was a fuckin ape or smth...it really ruined my vision! and I freakin LOVE alphas!!!
Damn, it so pissed me off on so many levels...and there are seven of them! Ex-seals not levels! Lol The ex seals living on a compound as somekind of a brotherhood of justice...I don't even wanna go there...well, they are actually leaving into another „real shit“ action...and now we are expected to see what will happen to them next.
The only reason I will go into the second book (which is Logan's story) is because I liked Logan, he seemed as reasonable as an alpha can be and the woman he got his eyes on had balls!
This was a fun, quick read. I loved how alpha Connor was- except for his one totally over the top reaction. He was completely devoted to Danielle and she was very sweet. I liked all of the other Seals and I will read their stories. This book has a lot of steamy times! Safety gang safe
In every JS book I've read, there's always this moment where the "hero" totally overreacts to a situation and becomes so furious with the heroine that he becomes a physical threat to her. Sometimes it leads to violence, and sometimes he simply terrorizes her ... But always when it's over the heroine is in tears, completely accepts that she "pushed him" into that reaction and is profusely sorry for "making him" react like that.
I liked this one. Liked Connor and Dani both. But I felt the single POV was limiting and I was dropped into the middle of a story. I had trouble getting really into it. That being said, I liked it and enjoyed meeting the crew and the set up for the next books. It was a fun, very safe read.
Love triangle? Cheating? HEA? Any Descriptive Sex w/OW/OM/Ex? Would I read more by this author/or in this series? Maybe, but not for now. Rating: 3 stars
Review
The opening scene was wowza hot. Now, I love alpha heroes but Connor was way too OTT. There was one scene that I really did not like . Also what I hate to hear is when H sais the h DISOBEYED him, that just makes my blood boil. If someone was talking to me that way, he'd be long gone! Otherwise I really liked it, H has a sweet side, too. :)
Former SEAL Connor Malone never planned on being in a relationship ever. He was a hard man and no woman could possibly handle that until Danielle Dupree. For six months he has ignored Danielle and her slight flirtations, but when she decides she has had enough she catches his attention. Connor makes up his mind that Danielle will be his in every way possible, but someone is intruding on the land he shares with his six SEAL brothers and keeping Danielle safe is the most important mission he will ever have.
Not sure why I delayed picking this one up earlier but it was really good. The first page pulls you just blatant hot alpha male captures your attention. Danielle is very sweet and it would be easy for a man like Connor to be to much, but she has a backbone that is perfect match for Connor. Anxious to read the next book in the series.
I have read a lot of books, some over and over again and some horrible books that I couldn't finish. This was probably the WORST book I have ever read. If Ms. Silver was going for alpha male she needs to read Kristen Ashley's books. This man was no alpha male he was an abusive asshole. After reading this book I swore to myself I will never read another book by her. I'm no prude and enjoy erotic books but wow, over the top with the sex scenes that border on rape in some cases. When 90% of a books is sex how can you consider it a book. This author has no business writing books. I can't believe she has wrote as many as she has, she for sure needs to look for another profession.
Bullshit!!!!!!! I wanted to jump in this book and bitch slap both of them H\h.... Here is the thing, if you are with a man who feels he can treat you like a child in public but fuck you like you're grown behind close doors..... Run for your life bitch cause that's not a alpha man that's a deranged man who will kill you...
SKIPPING THIS WHOLE SERIES FOR THE SAME REASON, Too much pain and punishment for me here. It's not the book, it's just me! The sample tells me I am not the intended reader of these books. Still love this author and have read most of her other books, just can't do this series.
I gave this book 3 stars simply because of the hot factor. Connor was such a barbaric alpha ass in this book it turned my stomach. No woman in her right mind would be such a doormat.
Big fan of Jordan Silver. Connor was a good start to the series and I'm interested to read the stories of the remaining 6 not so ex-soldiers. Especially considering how this book ended ~ it was more like a HFN.
Now...I liked Connor and Danielle and I had no problem with anything that happened in their relationship right up to the part where Connor lost his mind over the scene between Danielle and Robert. I HATED HATED HATED the way he treated her after this for something that wasn't that big of a deal at all. But it's just a book and if this happened in real life I would hope that Danielle would tell Connor to go F#@K himself and then leave him. lol It was hard for me to like him after this even though he did buy her that HUGE ring!! lol I am crossing my fingers that they do get their HEA in the next book.
Well I liked it. I was wondering after reading some of the reviews if Connor would be too much but it never happened.
"I'm here to f**k you" is the opening line. Connor's and Danielle have been eyeballing each other for three months and he finally cant take it anymore. After their first night he moves her in with him and makes her the first woman to be part of his SEAL brotherhood.
They've inherited property from their old commander in a small coastal Georgia town and started a construction business. There's rumors of some bad stuff happening (possibly drug running) so the team is investigating that as well.
Hot, sexy and dirty talk, I'm not sure what there is not to like. So far so good.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, fortunately the succeeding books are on KU.
I love this author. My only regret about her books is, I wish the heroines where given more of a voice.
Merged review:
I like Jordan Silver's heroes, I like them OTT & caveman possessive. Connor was no different. I just wish that for once she would write a heroine that could stand up to the hero & make him work a little & grovel a little.
I will be following this series as I like my JS heroes & this looks like a good series to watch out for.
I have mixed feelings about this one I liked a lot of things from this book but I also didn't like a few things from this book I enjoyed reading this more than I disliked it so I will be happy to read book 2 in the series when it comes out as I am invested in all the characters at this point and I really want to know what happens to everyone .. ;)
Good story, very intense. There were a couple of chapters in the middle that I didn't enjoy, they were too far for me personally but the rest of the story was good and the ending wasn't at all what I imagined it to be. I'm looking forward to the other brother's stories.
The storytelling didn't really work for me. Didn't feel the connection between the hero and heroine. Wasn't liking the heroine wasn't a virgin but she acted as if she was around the hero. Didn't buy that fake naive act.
Maybe once edited and revised, I'll download it and give another try. Storyline seems ok but half the time I didn't know who was talking. It seemed like we are reading ramblings from in his head.
What a ridiculous book. For goodness sake I like strong men but not Neanderthal monosyllabic jerks. Scaring the person that you are supposed to love...awful awful awful...run away from this one. Really deserves zero stars.
DNF @59% I'm sorry but I just can't read about him wanting to hit her and then blaming her for it. I know it's supposed to be OTT and I love OTT alpha males but this is too ridiculous and very near abuse. It's just not going to work for me...
But honestly, what kind person would like this book because I don’t really think the author knows what is a writing. They are simple line between asshole and alpha men. and this book writing is not alpha male is a asshole male a simple jerk. He’s a piece of shit he basically just told women don’t do anything just do whatever he told her to do and if her don’t do it, she use the bell to spank her ass and he Call himself not abuse asshole. If this is not a abuse asshole, I don’t really know what it is. He basically gaslighting the female character that her don’t know was good for her and he don’t have her own opinion or she don’t have a good judgment about her own safety because he is the one in the army so he see a lot of shit. He knows the world is not safe, blah blah blah so that gives his right to tell her not to do something. because she may let her self in dangerous so that’s why he can punish him but that’s BULLSHIT because whatever You decide to do whatever you want to do even that’s pull you in the dangerous you still can do it don’t have to follow man’s order because he’s not your master , alpha man doesn’t means he’s a master to the female character He’s just very protective and the protective doesn’t means you can abuse her or tell her what to do . Protective is whatever you do even that was the bad end but he still cleaning up your mess that’s protective no tell you what to do. You can do some dangerous decisions that put yourself in the dangerous that’s not there that’s not give him a right to do woman to spank her or treat them badly because he want to protect her .That’s totally bullshit.
Three years ago when I discovered Jordan Silver books I had the vibe that this series wasn’t very good and never read them. I just tried this one and it was pretty bad. An H who was OTT with meanness, not love. Connor was a turn off with the emotional abuse. This is not the usual wonderful Jordan Silver alpha male. I would be walking on eggshells around a guy like this. The h had money and a support system and I’m surprised she stayed when the emotional abuse dragged on. The plot was lackluster and the typos overwhelming. If only Connor had been a stand up guy like Colton Lyon! And as well written.
