Four lessons, no strings…

Detective Rafe Davenport has always made Courtney DeLollis uneasy. While her instincts whisper, Touch him, her mind says, Run. But since she learned that he’s dominant in the bedroom, she hasn’t been able to forget about it. She should be appalled—she knows all too well what happens when a man has too much control—but a deeper, darker part of her is fascinated...

5 Spank me, cuff me, kinky stars

Tell me you're in, Court. I dare you.

What rock have I been living under that I'm only discovering this series and this author now? No really? I'm kicking my own ass at the moment for not finding it sooner. Of course I'd much rather have Rafe spank me for being such a naughty girl, but that's what my fantastic imagination is for. What?

I happen to have a type. And the kinky dirty talkers do it for me every single time.

I was a little hesitant to read this when I saw that Rafe has a kinky dominant side since my last couple of Brazen reads that had attempted to write this genre, failed quite badly in my eyes. I'm so happy that Christine Bell not only met my high hopes for this book, she blew them completely out of the water, all the while doing the BDSM genre right. I devoured this book! Set aside a few hours, because this is a book you'll want to read in one sitting. Once you get the utter deliciousness that is Rafe, you will not want to put it down and never want it to end.

The last thing Courtney DeLollis is to lose herself in another man. She's not looking for a relationship and she certainly doesn't want anything to do with the super sexy Detective that she can't seem to stop thinking about lately. Every since she found out his "preferences", Courtney can't seem to get Rafe off of her mind. They're last conversation is not one she'd soon forget.

Rafe knows what he wants, and he's not shy about making it know. He's not looking for any entanglements and he's certainly not looking for anything as complicated as a relationship. Not with his past. And even though Courtney is extremely vocal about wanting nothing to do with him, he senses her true nature. He wants her.
Maybe it was because his nature wouldn't allow him to leave a gauntlet unretrieved on the ground between them. Maybe it was because he knew he had the key to unlocking something that had clearly bee trapped in her for so long. Hell, maybe it was because she was so fucking beautiful and the thought of her on her knees in front of him, begging for more of whatever he had to give, made his cock hard enough to cut glass. Whatever the case, he sure as hell couldn't bring himself to walk away.

And ladies, let me tell you, when Rafe sets his mind on seduction....holy panty change batman! The man does not disappoint.

Courtney may not want to get wrapped up in another domineering man, but she knows her attraction to Rafe is just too strong to walk away from. So when he offers her a way to slake their lust without any entanglements, how can she say no? The proposition? 4 scenes. No more, no less. No feelings, no complications.

And oh my god! When the scenes start? Sweet baby jebus! This book had by far one of the hottest cop fantasies I have ever read. Seriously. Underwear change required scene. So hot it might melt you on the spot scene. I guess what I'm trying to say here is it was HOT AS FUCK!

Prepare yourself to meet your ultimate Brazen dirty talking Dom.

Rafe won my pervy little heart over from the very first chapter. I just couldn't get enough of him. Courtney was a great heroine as well. I appreciated that Christine Bell wrote a heroine that was hurt in the past, but didn't let it color her future for long. Rafe's past also broke my heart. I completely understood his hesitancy in falling in love again. He fought it as long as he could, but when he finally fell? Oh lordy. Nothing hotter than a man that knows how to give a good grovel.

So if you enjoy dirty talking Dom heroes, sassy heroines that give as good as they get, hot as hell sex, a great story, and some kink in your books? This is a must read! Christine Bell is an auto buy author for me as of this book, and I can't wait for more from her. I also plan to rectify my stupidity and going back to read the rest of the books in this series. If they were anywhere near as hot as this one, I have been really missing out.

FOUR CUFF ME NOW STARS.

description

Christine Bell has done it again. I'm telling you straight readers, every novel that this author touches you can expect sizzling hot. 'Down on her knees' delivered the sexy and I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this kinky side of Christine Bell's writing. If you're in need of a hot, sexy fix with a detective thats got the killer combination of broken and gorgeous then this will be hitting all the right brazen spots. Hot-to-the-touch I won't be forgetting this story for some time to come ...

What's it about?
Courtney DeLollis is a singleton and happy to stay that way after surviving a past relationship that was controlling and abusive. Courtney has a great group of friends and is desperate to continue to live a carefree, stable life. One thing that makes her feel uncomfortable is her dangerously, seductive detective friend, Rafe Davenport. Rafe has certain tastes in the bedroom, tastes that Courtney has just found out about and much to her disbelief he is eager to try out the sexual chemistry that has been building between them. But with uncertainty and fascination waging a war inside Courtney gives into the offer of a no-strings arrangement between them. But once they start to experience a connection that goes beyond the bedroom they have to find a way to make a forever plan or walk away from love.

What did I love?
'Down on her knees is book three in the 'dare me' Christine bell book series. Every book in this series has grabbed my whole attention and so it goes without saying that I was looking forward to this release and i'm happy to say that this author once again delivered a sexy, flirty and erotic tale that met my expectations. Rafe and Courtney were a really enjoyable couple to read about, he's the bossy, dominant detective, who is just the right side of broken and insatiable and she's the feisty, likeable heroine who is struggling to resist the charms of our hero inside and out of the bed. The story is well written and is perfectly paced for a short novel, once again the sexy banter is apparent in this story much like her previous books and there is never a dull or boring moment between the characters. The verbal fore-play was almost as erotic as the deliciously written chemistry and I admit I was impressed with the authors extended kinky imagination. There is really nothing not to like about Rafe and Courtney's story, once again I have been thoroughly entertained by Christine Bell and her naughty story of love.

description

Why not five?
Hands down this book delivered on the sexy, I'm assured that readers of this series are already well aware that Christine Bell is a genius at creating lasciviously, sexy scenes that make your toes curl and heart thump, that all being said I found I missed out on the romance side of the story telling with this novel. There was plenty of kink and frolicking but I needed my heart to be invested in their relationship as well as my lusty, ogling thoughts.

description

Final thoughts ...
Christine Bell is an author not to miss out on, she has a wickedly delicious talent at writing the most tempting heroes and her stories are almost edible. If you like some kink with your romance then don't wait around go grab this book on release day ... Enjoy, kisses.

♦ 4.5 "Toy Boat" Stars! ♦

 photo 7419347_zpsguyvczph.gif

And finishing the Dare Me series, the last book is about Courtney DeLollis (the sweet friend of Laney and Cat) and Rafe Davenport (the hottest cop who happens to be into BDSM ;)).

After their first "sexual tension" encounter in the 2.5 book in the series, Courtney and Rafe cannot stand it anymore and Rafe decides to dare Courtney to have four scenes together (and that's it). Let's say these scenes start being smokin' HOT and they finish being sweet. Obviously, our two characters fall in love but it is quite difficult for Rafe to get it (because of his past). But, at the end, of course, we have a beautiful HEA (and an epilogue!!!).

Girls you will fall in lust with Rafe, he is some HOT cop!! And a dirty dirty talker ;)

A warm summer breeze kicked up as he clamped his fingers tight around her wrists and pinned her to the hood with his hips, hard enough to make her gasp.
“Tell me no,” he murmured against the soft shell of her ear, “and I won’t slide my hands up that little dress and work that pussy until you scream.”

So, my rating is 4.5 STARS because I loved these charaters (all of them) throughout the series and I loved how they all get a beautiful ending!

4 Commanding, Makes Me Flutter Stars * * * *

From my experience with the Entangled/Brazen franchise… they seem to have a full range of authors who really know their niche… and boy do they work it. Christine Bell is a writer with the ways and means to capture her audience and make them pant. She doesn’t tease and then fail in delivering; oh no…. she presents a story with real people, living lives we can all identify with and then throws a whammy. She gives us a detective who is an active Dom… with no hiding or concerns… he is who he is and his friends know it.

Rafe is controlled, confident and restrained in his feelings …. He had his love taken… it changed everything and he is unapologetic. He has figured out what works for him because he wanted no relationships… no ties. He has learned… 4 scenes with the same partner… then cut them loose. This way everything stays light, easy, hot and then over.

Rafe is part of a group of friends which have bonded and do a lot of things together. We connect with them at Lacey and Galen's wedding… and Courtney, the newest member of this tight group, is there. She is a recent addiction and has developed a careful ease with all of them. Her history with an ex boyfriend destroyed her confidence; he isolated her… manipulated and caused her to end up without friends, family or even a cell phone of her own. It took a while for her to put it all together as to what was happening but once she did… she got out and moved to a new home. Courtney vowed never to be in that position again and while being self supporting as a nurse, she still is feeling her way and getting over all she experienced with Wes.

It seems there was a conversation at a dinner before the wedding event and somehow Rafe and what he is came up. Courtney immediately took the stance of how she could never understand that type of behavior not being abusive… how it must be demeaning to a woman. Rafe not being one to back down… discussed it briefly but left it open on the table for Courtney to think about… and he offered in a sexy teasing way… hey if you are interested I can show you and you will be satisfied.

The wedding traditions take place… Courtney catches the bouquet and it is now time for the garter… and Rafe makes sure he is the one to travel her silky long legs and place it there… no one else. Tingles happen, both are aware… Courtney is flustered and leaves as soon as she can. As Rafe travels the same road dwelling on how hard he was just touching Courtney’s leg … he sees her pulled over by the side of the road… she has a flat. He is concerned; her car is in a bad place; she could be hit. He turns on the flashing lights startling her.

They talk, she gets out of the car, he is in her face and then nothing can keep them apart… his presence is too much for her… she is so wanting, he senses it all and they let their guards down with all the passion in the moment. It is stopped by the tow truck… but the damage is done… both felt it… both want it… and Rafe presents a concept for Courtney to consider: 4 scenes…. We do 4 specific experiences and then we will stay friends… no worries and continue that friendship with the group after.
Courtney is beside herself… she felt things with Rafe she never was willing to feel before… he was strong, sure of himself… full of control and she responded deep in her soul. She decides to go for it.

This was not BDSM light but it wasn’t Joey W. Hill level either. It was perfect for the story and I felt it really worked. The chemistry, texting and action was perfect for these characters… each finding their way with each other… not only sexually but on another level at the same time. There was the understanding of trust and how that is the cornerstone to this type of relationship at all times. How each person is really in control, no one losing their importance… because really in order for these things to work… each must be willing and equal…

The dialogue between Courtney and Rafe…. is hot… off the charts hot… and oh, my Ms. Bell is creative in the scenes Rafe does with our Courtney…. These are scenarios which were perfect for a newbie… meant to bring confidence to her willingness and both were richly rewarded.

We got more than tie me up, tie me down, etc. We got people vulnerable; growing stronger because of risking their minds and hearts. It worked for me and I think it might work for you, too.

I shall keep an eye out for more releases from Christine Bell… she promises the goods and she delivers nicely.

3.5 Be-Kinky-To-Me Stars!

Courtney, an over-worked nurse, has been hurt by a very controlling ex-boyfriend. She's never going to let any man control her again. Rafe, a local detective and mutual friend of Courtney, interests her. But he's let it slip that he's into the whole Dom scene...exactly what she doesn't want...another man with control issues. But there's something about him, a draw that makes Court question her decision to avoid "those types."

Rafe can feel their pull but he doesn't do relationships. He too has been very hurt from a tragedy in the past and refuses to endure that pain again. So he offers up a contract to Court. Four scenes. Walk away. Teach her about the submissive she is deep down and instill that trust in her that she lost from her douchey ex-boyfriend.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Let me tell ya... Although the plot is overused and simple, the scenes are what kept me turning the pages! Rafe sets up these scenarios, carefully planned out and IT IS HOT. Not just sex scenes but role play in it's finest! Scorching! Just saying...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

So if you're in the market for a quickie read with a fair amount of steam, very little angst, this one delivers.

4 Toy Boat & "Gil the Erection Deflector Stars".

Down On Her Knees is book 3 in the Dare Me Series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you read the previous books and novella from this series as each one is better or just as good as its predecessor. It also brings you into the group of people that the books are written about.

We are given a glimpse of the chemistry between Rafe Davenport and Courney Delollis in Down The Aisle, after a throwaway revelation from Cat, makes Courtney look at Rafe in a whole new light. Although initially shocked, it isn’t long before her curiosity is piqued, and Rafe can sense the potential submissive in her.

A Contract. Four Scenes. Sex Only

Rafe; rock hard & silky-soft at the same time, he doesn’t do feelings or commitment anymore. But the things he does offer are exactly what Courtney thinks she shouldn’t want or need, dominance and giving up control, are both things that have burned her in the past, and she is not looking to be the woman she associates with those things anymore.

However, what Rafe also offers Courtney is the opportunity to explore her sexuality in a way she never dreamed, and become the confident woman again that she once was… their chemistry sizzles and right from the moment he places a Garter on her leg at Galen and Lacey’s wedding and I was drawn wholly into their story.

In his police blues, he was pure fantasy. In his tux, he gave James Bond a run for his money.

What more can I say, Christine Bell has inspired me to use my first image in a review, but the sexyness above is exactly how I pictured Rafe from her first description of him, this book was like my very own dream come true. Add into the mix more of Galen *sigh* and the rest of the gang, it is another perfect installment in the Dare Me Series. I hope this isn’t the end, I hope we get more, as although everyone is pretty much paired off now, I will miss their being part of their lives, the verbal sparring, and general group antics.

What I Liked:

I loved Down for the Count, book one of the Dare Me series, so when I saw that Down on Her Knees was on sale for $0.99, I knew I had to buy it! I've read other Christine Bell books and she has not disappointed me! Her Brazen romances are always so steamy and so romantic.

Courtney has always been secretly intrigued by Rafe, although she says she isn't interested in him or his adventurous bedroom activities. Rafe has always been attracted to Courtney, and he finally has her where he wants her - fascinated, and too interested to turn him down. Four scenes is all they'll do - because neither want a relationship - but will four scenes be enough?

I adored Courtney and Rafe! From the first scene, their chemistry is off the charts. Christine Bell writes sexual tension so well! In all of her books, the hot tension precluding the sexy times is almost always just as hot as the sexy times themselves.

Courtney is a likable heroine, and Rafe is a charming and wicked hero. He's domineering but so caring and considerate. And he's a man in uniform! I have a soft spot for those types. Courtney is nervous of trying Rafe's style, but she's always very adventurous herself. I love her bravery!

Suffice it to say, I really liked the characters and their character development. I think they're a great pair together, and I enjoyed watching them grow together. They worked for their happy ending, which made me happy!

Like I said, the steamy scenes are so steamy! Christine Bell is a master when it comes to all the good stuff. No need to worry, Rafe's activities aren't terribly risque, nothing like hardcore erotica material. I really enjoyed the chemistry and tension between these two characters, and all the steamy interactions they shared!

Overall another solid (and hot) book from Christine Bell! I adore her books and will definitely be looking out for more from her in the future.

What I Did Not Like:

I hope this isn't TOO spoilery, but I really wish these two had done more scenes together! I felt like my Kindle was going to catch fire, just from reading this book. More is always better, in romance novels! (In my opinion.)

Would I Recommend It:

I highly recommend this particular Brazen novel, especially for the $0.99 I paid! I believe it's usually $2.99 but still! Any of Christine Bell's Brazen novels are worth the money.

Rating:

4 stars. Christine Bell has yet to disappoint me! This Dare Me series is so good. Quick, steamy, and filled with really likable, realistic characters!

3.5 RATING- I'm a bit over BDSM books honestly. I like reading about kink sometimes and I love to read a dominating hero but romance that centers around "scenes" and contracts has been played out for me. That being said, I had purchased this a while ago and thought I'd give it a go. Overall, it was a quick, sexy read and I enjoyed it. It's been a while since I've read anything from the Brazen collection and this one seemed just a bit more sexy than I remember although it's definitely BDSM-lite.

This book had me down on my knees begging for more.

Four Scenes ... that was the agreement ... four scenes of kink to show Courtney that being submissive can be empowering ... and four scenes for Rafe to get her worked out of his system.

Courtney finds Rafe incredibly enticing, however she's reluctant to get involved because of her last (bad) relationship ... protecting herself she uses rumors of his bedroom dominance to put up a barrier, suggesting that being a dom is just one step away from abuse.
Super-denial lockdown mode engaged.

Rafe also finds Courtney incredibly enticing, however he has a hard and fast rule - four scenes, no commitment, no relationships ... he knows her protests are fear based & is convinced he can change her mind ... but he's not planning on having his own mind changed.
I know that you and your pretty new wife are plotting to end my days of debauchery so I can follow you down the rabbit hole to wedded bliss, but that's not my bag man.

One Scene was all it took for my panties to practically melt off!
Two Scenes and things became complicated between Courtney & Rafe.
Three Scenes was pure bliss.
Four Scenes ... I don't thinks my heart or my libido could manage.

This book was not only seriously hot, but surprisingly humorous and heartfelt. I enjoyed the banter and the way each character was portrayed. I was looking forward to a bit more of a chase in the beginning - it had the 'I hate you, let's fuck' kind of vibe, but it didn't really play out that way. I did love the alpha-male sexy talk ...
I want you to come now, Court. Make it hard. Make it loud. Make it pretty for me.

Yeah ... like I said, HOT!

An awesome, easy read ... recommend to all the Brazen fans & everyone else who loves a schmexy read!

Not quite as BDSM-y as the title implies.

Sexy, sexy times with a detective with a sad past that uses "scenes" as a means of keeping the women and emotions away and the h, a past victim of a controlling and emotionally abusive ex.
They open up to each through their scenes.

The sex scenes are smoking', and the characters aren't bad. It is what it is.

This was just ok for me. The story was cute and the characters had chemistry. I had a problem with Rafe being labeled a Dom. First he might fall under the controlling label but not Dom. Courtney was a good character. Together they seemed good.

The problem was the sex was unimaginative and the terminology was wrong. They kept saying they had 4 scenes. What was actually happening was a roleplaying date. And other than one scene there was no BDSM that the Dom claimed he was into. It seemed as if the author was jumping on the BDSM bandwagon with no clear understanding of what it is.

Now that being said the story is cute as I said and the characters are good together. The story just might have been better as a contemporary because picking it up as erotica will disappoint.

"Now, if you’re through grilling me about my sexual practices, which you have no understanding or knowledge of, then I’m going to get myself a drink. Unless what
you’re really asking for is a lesson? In which case”—he glanced at his watch and then locked gazes with her—“you can pick up that hood and those cuffs”—he jerked his head toward the bachelorette party props—“and I’d be glad to take you outside in the alley and give you the best ten minutes of your life.”

She stuttered and her whole body went white-hot, but she managed a tight smile and a damned good response. “As tempting as that is, if ten minutes is all you’ve got in you, I think I’ll pass.”

His responding grin was positively lethal. He leaned in close, the delicious scent of his aftershave battering her already-overloaded senses. His gaze traveled down the line of her neck, trailing over her breasts, where her nipples betrayed her, tightening. “Ten minutes isn't all I've got.” Nostrils flaring as if he could sense her want, he bent low until his face was level with hers. “Ten minutes is all you could handle.”

And then commence intense foreplay.

4 "Oh..Oh..Oh my, Detective" stars

I just love this “Dare Me” series, and Christine Bell has become a must read author for me.

We met Rafe Davenport and Courtney DeLollis in “Down the Aisle”, where they had a very tense altercation that oozed sexual tension. Courtney had called Rafe out on his notable bedroom domination, and he had responded with an offer of 10 minutes of his undivided attention.

From past experiences, Courtney should skedaddle from this controlling detective, but she finds herself fascinated and definitely wants further insight..

Rafe is intrigued, and makes a suggestion to help cure Courtney’s idle fascination, as well as her misguided interpretation of the BDSM lifestyle.

”A contract. Four scenes. Sex only”

How could she refuse, especially as she was in the market for a purveyor of first-time orgasms… :-D

This bewitching, deliciously steamy story was just what my doctor ordered.

”A tough as nails cop by day and bedroom dom by night..”

I clung on tight and loved the entire journey sitting beside Rafe and Courtney, as he taught her new experiences as well as understanding her own bodies reactions. Rafe was gentle and patient, and totally dom-tastic.

Did the original contract stick, and were they able to keep to the four scenes? Just read, and know you will be thoroughly entertained.

Series: (Dare Me book#3)
Price: $0.99

The Good

Nice story, good physical chemistry . With this story, I felt it was nice, but I personally think the love scenes where hot and probably surpass the storyline. When I started reading, I was interested and Courtney and Rafe's spat back forth made you want to read more, but somewhere along the way, sometimes the story became ok to good. I have to commend the author on the creative ways on using Courtney and Rafe sexually together and their role play, it brought the book up a notch for me. I didn't read the other books in the series but was still able to follow this story.

The Bad

As I said prior the story wasn't bad it was ok and likable. I really love Rafe, but he was more of a softy Dom. That's not bad, but would have liked to see him be more aggressive, after all, his agreement with Courtney gave us something to look forward to.

Overall, very hot sexual attraction and action with a likable story.

I avoided reading this book for a long time because I thought it would be kinky but actually it wasn't. After the loss of his girlfriend the hero only has casual flings and the heroine and he have mutual friends and their chemistry is sizzling. After resisting, the heroine gives in and they decide on three encounters but they start turning into more. Enjoyable yet predictable book.

After what seems like forever but really isn't, we get Rafe and Courtney's story and boy is it a hot one. I admit I was one of the readers who could not wait for Rafe and Courtney to get together. They sparked off each other from the first meeting and you knew they were going to be combustible together and whoa baby are they.

In this book we get to finally see Rafe in action and I'm not talking about his job as a cop. Though if he turned up in his uniform at my door, I don't think I would listen to a thing he says, I'd be too busy drooling. He's a dom and happy to admit it. I really liked Rafe when we met him before and after this it has bloomed into loving him. How could you not when he puts a woman first, is a hero and is flat out hot.

Courtney on the the hand I wanted to smack in the last story for being so judgemental, but very quickly I changed my mind. She has a valid reason to be like that, but as the story progresses we see her change thanks to Rafe and his confidence building skills, but more about that soon.

This isn't a book for the timid, let me state that now. It has BDSM themes and is hot. As I said these characters are combustible together and the sparks fly between them whenever they are in the same place. Together they act out some very hot scenes but also have some very tender moments. I loved them together and their story was very satisfying. Almost felt like a cigarette after it.

When Rafe and Courtney clash at a bachelor/bachelorette party over his dom lifestyle, the sparks fly. Even if Courtney can't understand the need for his lifestyle. But the seed of lust is planted and neither can get the other out of their head. At their mutual friends wedding, they clash again. But this time with a different outcome.

This time Rafe proposes that they get each other out of their system but doing 4 scenes. No strings attached and they go back to being civil after. Easy right ? But as Rafe brings out confidence and another side of Courtney, can either walk away after the final scene or have they stumbled into something more ? They both have a past that could possibly taint any chance at happiness but what happens when they realise that the future is worth fighting for ?

This is book four in the Dare Me series and we get to see the couples from the previous books and get updates on what's happening with them. I loved this. It felt like catching up with friends.

Christine Bell is a "no need to read the blurb because you are guaranteed a good read" author for me and this book only reinforces this. I loved it as you may have guessed. If you haven't read the books from the start of the series, do yourself a favour and do so. You won't be sorry.

This ARC was supplied by the publisher for an honest review.

I'm really liking Christine Bell's writing style. It's funny and --wowza--steamy. I wasn't too sure how much I would like this considering I'm sort of BDSMed out lately. Not to go on a rant or anything but floggers and orgasms-on-command are starting to wear on my nerves. But this is Christine Bell. She can make anything fun. "Fun" is when you're poking fun at the ridiculous sex acts that the M/C's are about to engage in and still manage to sell it as hotter than hell.

Fun was finding a twenty-dollar bill in a pair of jeans you hadn't worn in months. Fun was strawberry picking on a warm summer day and sneaking a few as you went. Sitting at a diner looking at a BDSM checklist online, sussing out the things she would or would not be okay doing with her new sex-on-the-edge instructor, and assigning them each a rating utilizing the world's most complex system that ranged from 1-5 but also included question marks, backslashes and a capital X? That was the opposite of fun.

When I read that I thought, "Seriously, BDSM hasn't been so boring since Christian Grey..." But it's not. Oh, no. Not with Detective Rafe Davenport. This isn't just spanking and wrist tying-- we have the added element of some sizzling role playing and risky outdoor/public scenes, too.

And while our hero is stoic and serious and dominant, our heroine manages to seem like an every-woman--relatable. She's funny and vulnerable and smart:

"The problem is that, to my understanding, you should be naked right now, should you not?"

She could hardly think over the relief flooding through her. He seemed to really like her body, so then what?

She was naked, besides...she sucked in a breath, realizing her mistake. She'd been in such a rush to get here on time that she'd slid on underwear out of habit without giving it a second thought. And who could blame her? Leather and vaginas weren't meant to co-hab without some sort of buffer. Surely that was a rule somewhere?

I have to say that this isn't full of intense angst or danger or jealousies. Conflict is minimal. This is just a fun, easy read. It made me laugh out loud in some places and made me say, "hot damn" in others, so I feel like this was a hit for me. Well done, Ms. Bell.

No. Adults. Talk. Like. These. Down on Her Knees is the second novel I've read by Christine Bell--the first being Dirty Trick, a novel in which I skimmed copious amounts--and unfortunately I think it'll be the last.

Courtney DeLollis is done with controlling men, which is why Rafe Davenport and his "lifestyle" are a complete turnoff. He's into dominating his sexual partners--and that's what they are since Rafe doesn't do relationships--and Courtney thinks there's only a thin line between what he does and what her ex did. Courtney and Rafe are the last of their group to be attached to another person, ergo they're going to end up together. The story lies in how that happens. Rafe proposes that they do four "scenes" with each other to get their sexual tension worked out: Courtney can get her confidence back and he can get her out of his system. Of course, it doesn't work out how he plans.

Okay, I get it. A majority of these books are centered around sex and the plot works out from that point, but that doesn't mean that there should be no plot at all. Courtney and Rafe were caricatures. They had back stories that were created in one episode of a soap opera. The story was a series of scenes pasted together to make it seem like there was more than just sex, which was incredibly detailed and if Bell had spent as much time on the sex scenes as she did with the rest of the story, it would've been spectacular. Also, adults do not talk like this... Or maybe it's just me. This was an issue I also had with Bell's Dirty Trick. If these were 18 or 19-year-olds, I could let it pass, but it just seemed as though this is how the author figured people would sound, not how they actually sound. The novel was a study in badly executed clichés in my opinion, but I do seem to be in the minority. Furthermore, it takes a lot to put pen to paper and write a story for the entertainment of others, so I still give Bell props for that!

DOWN ON HER KNEES is the fourth storyline in Christine Bell’s adult contemporary, erotic Dare Me romance series focusing on a tight knit group of family and friends. This is Detective Rafe Davenport and Nurse Courtney DeLollis story.

Courtney’s last relationship has closed her heart to the possibility of ever trusting her heart when it comes to her attraction to men and Rafe Davenport is the last man to whom she should be attracted to. When her controlling ex all but destroyed every relationship, friendship and her sense of self worth, Courtney knows that to lose her heart to Rafe Davenport should be the last thing on her mind. But Rafe makes Courtney an offer-four Dom/sub scenes with no strings attached-and both would walk away better for the experience. What neither counted on was falling in love or the heartbreaking pain of walking away.

The relationship between Courtney and Rafe begins as friends then escalates to a Dom/sub scenario when Rafe offers to teach Courtney ‘his rules’ as it pertains to sex and taking control. But Rafe’s past is shadowed by a painful loss that affects all of his relationships including his friendship and love for Courtney.

Christine Bell pulls the reader into a seductive story where one woman’s innocence is propelled into a heated desire for the man who wants nothing more than a good time and to dominate in the bedroom. When emotions are tied to the heart, the mind has a difficult time separating the two-and Rafe is not willing to pursue anything permanent until it looks like he will lose more than his friendship but his heart.

DOWN ON HER KNEES brings together most of the previous storyline characters in a fast paced, sensual story of letting go and moving forward and, opening up to the possibilities of a happily ever after.

While I enjoyed this book to a certain extent, I have to say I was a bit put off by how quickly things moved with Rafe and Courtney. There was pretty much no substantial preamble, they denied their feelings for like a second, and then went for it. Now I'm saying this having never read any of the other books in the series, so I don't have any connections to any of the characters, but with companion novels, this shouldn't even be an issue.

Also, I don't know how true this is in the BDSM community, but Bell made everything seem so methodical and open, which surprised me. I always thought these things were handled more discretely, so it was weird to see Courtney and Rafe so open and nonchalant about it, especially around their friends. Not to say that it bothered me, or swayed me in any particular way, I'm all for the "whatever floats your boat" motto, just wanted to point that out about the book. And again, I'm no BDSM expert, but everything felt pretty tame to me, and often times a bit cheesy. The sex scenes had some steam to them, but it didn't stir anything in me.

I don't think this was a good fit for me, as far as Brazens go, but I'm sure fans of Bell's series will still enjoy this. It felt more like these two were a couple due to circumstance, enjoying each other's company because they were just there (and attracted to each other), and I didn't really feel a connection to any of them. As much as I wanted to like this, it was a miss for me.

I’m not a fan of this title, let me start with that. You ask, “then why did you buy it?” and I say “it was 99 cents on amazon?” *shrugs* Plus I was in the mood for a smexy read and with that title, and this author I thought there was a chance I’d get some. While the story is relatively short, there were some good times to be had.

The biggest issue I had with this book was the feeling that I was missing something because it’s clear a few pages in that there are at least a couple of books in this series before this one, and that Rafe and Courtney met each other previously in one and that they have had a standing attraction that Courtney doesn’t know how to handle. She’s just getting out of an abusive/controlling relationship and she equates Rafe’s Dom reputation to it. She feels as if she’d be going from the frying pan into the fire by getting involved with him. Rafe also has his insecurities, since he lost his fiance and therefore must never love again.

The story’s straightforward, there is chemistry between the characters and the sex is good. I think I didn’t connect with Courtney because she was a bit judgy about the BDSM, or Rafe since he was all “I only do four scenes so the women don’t get attached.” There wasn’t anything between them that really stood out from the myriad of romance novels I’ve read. I just wish I had known about the earlier books because I might have tried to read them first and it might have changed my perception of this book.

What a read. With fabulous characters and page-burning steamy content, I devoured this in one sitting. Whilst it could be a standalone read, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series as a) they're superb and b) previous characters feature quite heavily.

Rafe is one dirty dominant Detective. I am a sucker for a cop and I loved him. Bold, protective and very sexy, he doesn’t do commitment. He does contracts. Courtney is on a path of finding herself having left a controlling relationship. She's honest, caring, fun and is rather opinionated over Rafe's lifestyle. But there's a simmering attraction and Rafe is determined to prove to her the merits of the BDSM world. One contract. Four scenes. Zero attachment...

I loved them both and their chemistry was fabulous. Their journey into the D/s world was hot, intimate, sexy, fun yet with a serious edge and I whilst I found myself smiling plenty (as is always the case with Christine Bell’s books), the emotional side of their story touched and frustrated me. It had it all and simply reinforces why I will always read Christine's books.

Without a doubt this is a book and a series I recommend.

I received a copy of this as an ARC courtesy of Entangled Publishing for an honest and unbiased opinion (but I will be purchasing as it's a keeper)

Maybe I have not been a heavy romance reader in long time.. but what is it with authors that since 50Shades they are always bringing this BDSM into their books? that all pain/pleasure thing...

Rafe is a detective that has defined rules for his love affairs.. they involve BDSM & 4 dates. His submissives must sign an agreement contract and be expected to do what he wants, whenever he wants, and wherever he wants.
Where have I heard that before?
Courtney is just out of a co-dependant relationship in which she lost herself in the will of her boyfriend, and now she is re-starting, recreating herself.

Of course they have a thing for each other, but she gets scared when she hears the kind of kinky bastard Rafe is. Well, at least she has that kind of common sense.
Rafe convinces her to give it a try and they start their romance.

Although their sexy scenes are steamy and indeed sexy.. I am getting bored with the whole dom/sub topic.. which I felt was not even well set in this story.

Shame to come down to this resources.. there are a lot of other kind of love relationships that can be written about...
anyway, easy and fast read.. unfortunately it did not leave me with " wanting to read the next one "...

maybe I am the only one that disagrees with the rest.. I see a lot of people put 4* or more...
guess is a matter of taste...

4 smoking hot stars!

WOW! this book was HOT and if you're a fan of Christine Bell's work you will love Down on Her Knees!
I've enjoyed all the books from the Dare Me series and even though Down on Her Knees can be read as a stand alone I highly recommend you read all the books as it's a great series :)

Rafe and Courtney have amazing chemistry and their story will have you fanning yourself from their hot sex scenes to wanting to shake Rafe so he can open his eyes and heart to what is so obvious to everyone but him.
Rafe was so convinced he would never let another woman into his heart that he's willing to throw away a chance at happiness all because of fear, a fear of love.
Courtney was in a very bad head space when she first agree's to Rafe's four scene contract but with his encouragement and the way he makes her feel she starts to feel more confidant and sure of herself. Loved seeing her come out from that dark place she was in :)

This book ticked so many boxes for me, I enjoyed it so much I read it in one day.

Do yourself a favour and read Down on Her Knees, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you Christine Bell for writing this very entertaining series.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Entangled Brazen for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

DOWN ON HER KNEES is the fourth and last book in the series and though I really loved all of them this one hast to be my favorite! Rafe and Courtney are great characters and they were awesome together. Once again, Christine Bell's writing had me mesmerized and I read this book in one sitting.

I tried to figure out why I loved this series so much, besides Christine Bell's addictive voice. I think it's because in all the books it's the men doing the chasing and going after what they want while the women are giving them a run for their money.
I inhaled this series, reading them back to back and not able to stop reading! I now have to read all her other books too as I've grown addicted to her writing.

Fave Quotes
She might not know it yet, but she was ripe for this. For someone — no, not someone, he thought fiercely, for him to teach her what her body already knew. She craved it. The pleasure and the pain. The ability to give herself over completely. Now if only he could impart her first lesson without coming in his pants, they'd be golden.

He loved her. The words crept into her soul and wrapped around her heart like an embrace.

Is there anything hotter than a story about a police detective??? Um yes there is, a story about a police detective who also happens to be a hot alpha dom.... whooo hooo!!!

This is the story of Rafe and Courtney. We previously met them in the other books in this hot little series. Courtney was in a horrendous relationship previously with her ex boyfriend who used to manipulate her all the time. She has become very wary of men, particularly Rafe as she has heard tails of his proclivities in the bedroom and while that her intrigued, it also leaves her scared. Rafe challenges Courtney to allow him 4 intimate scene with her, no stings attached and then they will both go their separate ways as Rafe does not do relationships either.

What ensues is a very hot and panty melting read that will keep you hooked from beginning to end....
