Syrinx is the Goddess of Chastity and a challenge to the God Pan who has never had a woman say no to him. In order for Syrinx to keep her chastity she escapes off Olympus and becomes Sylvia Rain in our realm and establishes a floral business. Pan follows and takes on a new identity also as Parker Thomas to win Syrinx over. With the advice from Rutherford Hayes (Parker Thomas butler/helper/friend) Pan learns many lessons and does his best to win the heart not just the chastity of Sylvia/Syrinx. The lessons learned and the advice given help these two characters learn a lesson and find happiness. You mustn't think that the path to happiness was an easy one because of course there are others who don't want Pan obsessed with Syrinx. Chaos always leads the way to the final outcome. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I have always had a love for the Greek Gods/Goddessess of mythology. This was just a different take on their story.

Pan has met his match in Syrinx, the Goddess of Chastity, in Aubrie Dionne's Pan's Conquest. Syrinx a.k.a. Sylvia Rain holds onto her chastity like a security blanket, even though her river nymph's passion ignites when around Pan a.k.a Parker Thomas. I enjoyed the growth of her character and how she learned what truly defines her. Wild and handsome Pan/Parker is a worthy adversary and love interest toward Syrinx/Sylvia. His character's growth warmed my heart. Sylvia's friend Kaye is adorable and at times stole the show along with Rutherford, whom I loved. Dionne's lyrical style is beautiful to read. I smiled, laughed, and cried throughout the book and thoroughly enjoyed the Greek mythological flare to the storyline. For a sweet romance with a flash of danger and hotness look no further than Pan's Conquest by Aubrie Dionne.

My Review:
For those of you who don't know. I was a classical humanities major in college. A huge part of my curriculum involved the studies of ancient philosophy and myth. I love mythology. So, with that type of a background, you can imagine that I'm always on the lookout for stories that involve myth in any way and my particular favorites are those who have Gods who disguise themselves as humans in the mortal realm or as Harry Potter fans would say, in the muggle world.

I have been looking for an Adult Paranormal Romance novel with mythology that would really win me over for quite some time now. I have read several but they usually end up in disappointment because as the Adult books that they are, they get drowned too much in the physical aspect of a romantic relationship and forget about characterization. And really, isn't it a crime to ignore characterization when you have a story where an immortal God has to learn how to be human, and all of the complexities that come with being mortal and imperfect, as compared to Gods who are immortal and perfect. When you have a story that has someone learning to be human you can explore so much about identity, emotions, feelings and this is what Pan's Conquest does. It gives us a look into the minds of two Gods who are learning that identity is so much more than what you are assigned with a birth. Identity boils down to feelings and actions and learning to break down misconceptions that are imposed on us by strangers and the particular society we live in.

The characterization in this novel is everything. Pan is the God of Fertility and he is set on trying to add Syrinx, the God of Chastity, to his last of many conquests. But as their titles suggest, these two Gods kinda represent the opposite of each other. Pan is a sort of playboy/ player, while Syrinx is the serious girl who has morals and boundaries amongst the Gods. So, what happens? Syrinx goes to the mortal world to escape Pan under a human identity, while Pan follows and also takes up a human identity to see if he can win her over. What I love about Pan and Syrinx is that their human selves allow them to discover who they are as people because once they hit the human realm, they have to shed their God identities and all that these entail, and have to learn just how to BE. To just be a person, living in the world, learning and living. Pan becomes Parker, a wealthy young bachelor, while Syrinx becomes Sylvia, a florist.

What ensues amongst Pan and Syrinx as humans is a really sweet, and well developed romance. Both characters are hell bent on hiding their true identities as Gods. They are also reluctant on love because they are too hung up on their God roles. Luckily, the secondary characters come in and help them challenge their own views in the form of Kaye, the friend and assistant of Syrinx at her floral shop and Rutherford, the older butler and advisor of Pan in his estate. Kaye really helps Syrinx break out of her shell and to open to love and Rutherford helps Pan see that love is so much more about lust and the physical, that love helps you to see the beauty in life and to cherish and consider others.

I could go on some more about the characters and the lessons learned in this book but I don't want to give the story away. All I can say is that Pan's Conquest was a really lovely story of two souls that kinda had a certain loneliness to them, but who become whole through each other. The characters were witty and fun, and getting to see two Gods fumble as humans while doing ordinary things
was really great too. Makes you think about how the little things in life aren't little at all, and could lead to extraordinary discoveries. I loved this book. It was easy to get into and the writing just flowed.

My rating: 4/5

Thank you, author Aubrie Dionne and Ashley Hill from Paranormal Sisters blogspot, for a review copy of this novella.

First of all, I absolutely love Greek mythology so I jumped at the chance to read this book. Of course this love story is totally different from the actual Greek myth which Im happy about. The myth doesnt have a happy ending. This story does!
Syrinx and Pan are two self-obsessed characters in the beginning of the book. All she cares about is remaining a virgin and judging everyone else for their wrongdoings (she is the goddess of chastity after all) while Pan wants nothing more than to bed her and then toss her aside (hes the god of wild nature and is frequently associated with sexuality). She escapes Mount Olympus to the modern human world and hides there for 5 years. She takes on a new name, Sylvia, and opens a florist shop so she could pretend to be human. Pan finally finds out where she disappeared to, goes to this human town, changes his name to Parker, and pretends to be human for a whole year, all the while trying to come up with a plan to win her virginity and to reclaim his honor (no woman has denied or embarrassed him before).
Once they finally met, as Sylvia and Parker, they fall in love. Pan finally understands why Syrinx is the way she is and he no longer sees her as a conquest. Now, he sees her as a woman worthy of love and he wants to be worthy enough for her. Syrinx doesnt know that her beloved Parker is the evil Pan is disguise. Shes willing to give him her virginity/chastity for love. But nothing goes according to plan.
The side characters were awesome.
Rutherford, Pans human butler/friend/advisor, is such a sweet old man. I honestly thought, all the way to the end, that some Greek god had taken on a human persona to help teach Pan humility and to win Syrinxs heart. Alas, thats not the case but it doesnt really matter. Rutherford is a great person and he helped Pan in every way necessary.
Kaye, Syrinxs best friend/employee, is fun, flirty and wild. Shes the type of best friend any girl would want. Kaye taught Syrinx to follow her heart and to stop listening to her one-track mind. She helped Syrinx see that theres more to life than honoring old, foolish principals even though Syrinx once needed those principalsnow she has a chance for something more.
I was disappointed with the villain, Coral. Although she was a definite baddie, I just expected her to be nastier, especially to Syrinx. Still, that didnt take away from the overall love story.
Another disappointment was that there wasnt a single sex scene. Id heard that this book was sweet, which Im totally fine with, but I didnt expect the one love scene to end as soon as the couple falls into bed. I thought wed see a little action under the covers with sweet, romantic terms to describe their physical relations. Instead, we got a scene break. Pan has lusted after Syrinx for years so there shouldve been more of a payoff when he finally got her into his bed.
I loved watching this couple mature and grow throughout the course of the story. Their love is pure even though they fell for one another under false pretenses. I wish there was an epilogue so the reader can see how their lives and relationship turned out, even though we know they found their HEA.
Ms. Dionnes style of writing flowed beautifully and I could hardly put the book down. There werent any typos or moments where I felt confused. She did an excellent job writing this book.

It is well known that an excellent source for our day Fantasy literature is the mythology of different nations. The myths, created insofar to explain the misunderstood phenomena, to motivate good choices or wrong, but also to warn and impose certain behavior, have enchanted the minds (imagination) and the souls of many generations. But most mythological tales have a tragic end, at least for one of the parties involved. This same case is in the story of Pan and the nymph Syrinx, where in the trying to escape the advances of the lover boy Pan, she’s turned into a hollow water reeds that made a haunting sound when the god’s frustrated breath blew across them, plants from which Pan, in memory of the nymph, will fashion the first set of pan pipes, which were thenceforth known as syrinx.

Aubrie Dionne summoned up courage and removed the injustice of sacrifice of Syrinx, giving the two a chance at a new life even if not to love. Hereby, Syrinx will not be transformed into water reeds, but she will take refuge in the human world, always hiding from Pan and his attempts to seduce her.

Using the freedom given by the constant differences existing from mythological stories, Aubrie Dionne will accentuate the gap between Syrinx and Pan giving them opposite meanings, for what could be put on more opposite positions than the Fertility God and Goddess of Chastity? It is obvious that the starting point is an exciting one, and the author manages to keep the paranormal romance reader's curiosity along the whole story through the addition of other amorous preoccupied characters or not by our heroes, a danger and suspense, even a slight thriller note at sometimes. The humor strained here and there, in the right places, will only be a plus point.

I liked the subtle way in which are identified several kinds of love and / or behaviors in love. From the infatuation of a ladies man and the amusement of the conquest (love hunting) to refusing to admit feelings that you try and to find a way to entwine what you choose to be and what you evidently feel, between unrequited love and its possible consequences in depending on the person who loves, from the filial love to the most disinterested love of your neighbor.

I appreciated that Aubrie Dionne succeeds without the use of intimate scenes to create the necessary tension of the love story, as far abundant to highlight the existence of real feelings and to demarcate the right from wrong.

The author manages to preserve that atmosphere characteristic of myth in conditions that are obvious the influences of modern fantasy literature, keeping and feeding equally the reader's desire to find out more and more. Her style is a fluent one, the pages flow easily, the plot takes place naturally and I found that I enjoyed reading the story in of which the fruition of the second chance offered by life (or by the gods) depends solely on how the characters see them within themselves and by the choices they have to make considering what they are or what define them and by the honesty to themselves.

Posted on What I'm Reading

I don't know how many out there know a lot about Greek Mythology. Honestly, I only know a few of the really big names like Zeus, Hera, and Hades. However, most of the stories are interesting, but we just don't focus a lot of time on them. So, when I got an opportunity to checkout Pan's Conquest by Aubrie Dionne, I just jumped at the opportunity for a couple of reasons. One, the story intrigued me. Second, I have enjoyed Aubrie's writing before.

For those who don't know who Pan is, he's a lusty god of fertility. Basically, Pan is always looking for his next conquest, after all he's a lusty fellow. However, there's one who didn't want to take any part of his activities and that was Syrinx. Now Syrinx is know as the goddess of chastity. It wouldn't be a good idea for Syrinx to cavort with Pan. I mean that would put a damper on the whole chastity thing. Anyway, Syrinx needed to get away from Pan, so she asked a nymph for help. This lead Syrinx to the modern day and she become Sylvia Rain. Of course, Pan can let Syrinx go, so he follows her. Pan becomes Parker Thomas in the modern day. Now he's trying to conquer Syrinx, because he has always wanted her and maybe he'll be able to move on.

I enjoyed Pan's Conquest. Yes, Pan is a bit of a stalker in the story, but when he started out he wanted to make Syrinx his next conquest no matter what. Plus, he didn't consider her feelings when he set out on this quest. However, after living in the mortal world and having a good friend he learned that he needed to take others into consideration. I love how he starts to get to know Syrinx as a person rather than object. I think what really helped Pan realize this was the wise words he received from Mr Rutherford:

"You can be whomever you want to be, Mr. Thomas. It's your actions that define who you are. Not others' preconceived notions. The people who matter the most should know who you really are--the true you."

Overall, Pan's Conquest is an excellent story about a lusting god who tries to go after a conquest, but realizes there might more to life. So, if you have a hankering for a greek god and what to see if he's willing to change for love, you might want to read Pan's Conquest.

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Pan is the God of Fertility and can have any woman he wants. Pan is use to women just falling at his feet. He is use to them chasing him. To Pan having a woman is just another notch on his belt as they say. But then Pan meets up with the Goddess of Chastity, Syrinx and she is not about to break the vows that she has made. So she runs away from Pan when he chases after her. Pan goes after Syrinx and follows her to earth where she has fled and has decided to live as humans do and she has become to love it.

Syrinx has made a friend on earth, a friend and partner in the florist business, Kaye. Syrinx and Kaye have become best friends. Pan follows Syrinx to earth to go after Syrinx so he can make her another notch on his belt. When Pan runs into Syrinx he has changed his appearance as well as his name. He doesn't want Syrinx to know who he is until he has got her into his bed. Syrinx is so determined not to break her vows but she is very attracted to this new guy that has stepped foot into her life as a customer that she can't resist him when he asks her out on a date besides if she turns him down she may lose his business and she definitely can't afford that not only for herself but for Kaye as well. No way can she let Kaye down.

All Pan wants at first is just to get into Syrinx's pants as they say but then he realizes that he is falling for Syrinx and he is falling hard. He figures out that he has a decision to make. Does he tell Syrinx who he really is and take the chance that he will lose her forever or does he continue to lie to her and hope that she never finds out? Can he win heart? Can he make her love him? Will he tell her the truth of who he is? Will he take the chance of losing her? To find out what Pan and Syrinx do pick up your copy of Pan's Conquest today!

Aubrie Dionne is one of the best authors that I have come across in a long time. I have read several of her books and definitely plan on reading a lot more. Aubrie Dionne is one author that we need to keep our eyes on. I can't wait to read more of her work.

Who could be more polar opposites than the goddess of chastity and the god of fertility. Sometimes fates look at the world and have themselves a huge laugh. Aubrie Dionne shows her sense of humor by having Syrinx, who has pledge to remain chaste all her days, is having that pledge tempted by her feelings for Pan, the god of fertility. Unfortunately Pan desires any female, mortal or goddess. Syrinx, being chased once again by Pan, is nearly to the safety of the waterfall when she goes to save a young mortal girl from Coral, a water nymph. Coral takes great joy in playing with mortals lives, never caring if they live or die, just so long as she is entertained. nearly makes her submit to her desires. Knowing she can't go on she finds a way to hide from Pan in plain sight, with help from Coral who wants Pan for herself.

For over a millennium Pan has looked for Syrinx, his heart heavy. Finally Coral confesses where to find her and he goes into action. It is years coming to fruition, but this time he will not let Syrinx escape from the pleasure he knows they will have in his bed.

This short novella packs just a big of punch as any novel. Filled with humor and snappy dialog you will laugh as your heart melt under the heat generated by Pan and Syrinx. The integrity of Syrinx is to be admired, but one can not help question her sanity for resisting so long. Pick up your copy today if you enjoy reading about the romps between the gods and a story of love vs intellect. Come join myself and others who have come to call Ms. Dionne a new favorite author. This mythological fantasy romance hits the sweet spot with a fantastic tale of what true love can accomplish.

Goddess of Chastity, Syrinx wasn’t about to succumb to Pan’s temptations so she escaped to the twenty-first century where she runs a florist shop and lives out her fake mortal life until the breathtaking Parker Thomas hires her to decorate his gala and makes her feel things she can’t ignore. Determined to win the one that got away, Pan the God of Fertility poses as a mortal to get close to her but he doesn’t count on falling hard for his conquest. But Syrinx is falling for a man that doesn’t exist, can Pan hide his identity forever or will the truth tear them apart?

This steady paced plot gives the reader shivers as they follow the romantic journey to true love’s conquest. The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery and details that capture the imagination and the strong charismatic characters are easily related to and have the reader wanting to know more.

The attraction between Pan and Syrinx burns hot enough to singe the reader throughout the story, but this romance is not an easy conquest for the charming Pan as he going to have to work hard and romance this one and maybe discover something more than he ever considered before. Syrinx stays true to what she believes in, but this journey teaches her that just maybe her life could mean something more. The author conveys the emotions and passions of the couple with vibrant intensity that captivates the reader’s heart and has them empathizing with both couples as they learn the true meaning of love.

The author’s twist to the Greek mythological gods is fascinating and sweet. The wonderful romance story is just what the reader ordered if they believe that happily ever after is for everyone including gods.

Syrinx is the God of Chasity and she won't break her vows. Pan makes her want things she can't have so she runs from him and hides in the twenty-first century. Running a floral shop she lives a normal mortal life. She takes a job for a great looking man named Parker to decorate his estate for a gala. She worries because she starts to fall for Parker. Pan won't give up wanting Syrinx. He is the God of Fertility and while most maidens run to him, Syrinx is constantly running away. He will do anything to get what he wants including posing as a mortal to trick Syrinx. What he doesn't expect is to fall for Syrinx. She makes him want more than just a fling. However a person from the past is out to make sure they don't come together.

This is a wonderful story that I wanted more of. I love the author's take on Pan and Syrinx. They say opposites attract and in this case they sure do. Syrinx is a great character who only wants to keep her vows. She runs and hides from Pan thinking he will finally give up. She really is just scared of her own feelings and what will happen if she listens to her heart. She has an amazing mortal friend who you really want to have her own story. Pan at first lives up to his image but as he lives as a mortal trying to trick Syrinx he learns what it really means to care for someone else. His butler tells him about his own love and it makes Pan think about what is really important. I enjoyed getting to see both characters open up about what they want and how they feel. If you enjoy mythology or just want a quick good read this may be the one for you.

A sweet and lovely romance, Pan's Conquest was a wonderful read. I really liked this book. It was light, sweet, and an enjoyable read.

Syrinx was a lovely heroine. She was strong and determined to stay true to herself despite the urging of others. My one problem with her was that she was rather judgmental. It was even directly stated several times that it was part of her nature. It annoyed me how she was so self-righteous and determined to stay on her high horse. Other than that, though, I thought she was great.

Pan was wonderful. He started off as the playboy god that he is in mythology. But, over the course of the book, I knew version of him was created, one that slowly learned the importance of deeper relationships and eventually fell in love. I thought his character was very sweet and totally adorable.

The romance was lovely. Syrinx and Pan were great together, when they both got over their issues. This is a fairly clean romance, so it was mostly sweet. I thought they were a wonderful couple.

The plot was well paced. I wasn't totally hooked, but I was kept interested the entire way through. I enjoyed the story and the ending was very sweet.

Pan's Conquest was a wonderful light paranormal romance. I really enjoyed reading this lovely book. Romance lovers, this is a book worth checking out.

Syrinx has escaped the God of Fertility, Pan, untouched by his lusty ambitions. Transporting herself to the twenty-first century, she has a fulfilling life as a florist. She wants for nothing more until the gorgeous Parker Thomas orders hundreds of roses for a gala. While Syrinx loves her work, Parker is distracting, making her desire something she never thought she'd want. Except Parker doesn't really exist. He's Pan in disguise, and he's finding he wants more than just one night with Syrinx. Can the past be forgiven or will it break both their hearts?

A fantastic paranormal romance with a mythological twist. I've always been a fan of the story of Pan and Syrinx, and I love Aubrie Dionne's modern take on it. It's a light read packed with a lot of emotion, a very hot Fertility God, and a bit of mystery. It doesn't lean heavily on the paranormal aspect, but focuses on the characters themselves and that's what brings the magic to the tale.

Syrinx is the Goddess of Chastity and holds on to which is dear to her. I admire her strength and her compassion. Pan plays true to his randy role until his life as Parker begins to change him. I can see why all the maidens find him enchanting!

I highly recommend this to readers who like contemporary and paranormal romance.

“She’d chosen to embody the goddess of chastity, and no male god—especially not a wild philanderer—could change that.” –Syrinx (Pan’s Conquest)

At only 153 pages Pan’s Conquest is a quick read. I enjoyed the characters and the story. The romance is great and there is a touch of mystery surrounding Pan.

We begin with the prologue, which gives us a few pages of back-story on Syrinx and Pan’s history. Chapter one then delivers us to modern day and the new world that Pan and Syrinx find themselves living in.

The story is told in multiple points of view so that we get a good look into Pan’s motivation and Syrinx’s struggles.

I’m hoping that there will be more stories with these characters since I was left wondering about a few things. I would have liked more information about Pan’s connection to his father and half-brother and I really want to find out what happens with Kaye.

Overall, Pan’s Conquest by Aubrie Dionne was a fun and enjoyable read and if you look a little deeper you might find a lesson about fighting against judgments, prejudice, and the misunderstanding of who and what you are.

You can’t be more opposite than the Goddess of Chastity and the God of Fertility. Just about everyone knows that mythology rarely has a happily ever after; myths are fraught with sadness, death, and mostly unhappy endings. Ms. Dionne takes a chance by taking on a myth (well known or not) and changing it into a love story gone right.

There was more to this story than just a sweet love story though. Throughout the book the characters morph into more than they started out as. Just because you carry a label, doesn’t mean that has to define you. People can change, sometimes it just takes finding the right person to make them want to change. Yes, a lot of it is cliché, the playboy meets the one woman in the world who doesn’t chase after and desire him… it starts as a game… a game for one night…but it ends with so much more.

This is a really quick read; I read it in a few hours while my kids were at a birthday party (and it was one of those rare moments when my house was quiet and I didn’t have a million things that needed to get done immediately). It’s short, it’s sweet, and a thoroughly enjoyable read.

If you love mythology and cute romances as I do, don't miss this new book by Aubrie Dionne!

Syrinx, the goddess of chastity, escaped Pan, the god of fertility eons ago. His lust for Syrinx has not abated but she's disappeared. While Syrinx was attracted to Pan, she was not giving up her vow of chastity for him.

Fast forward to a the 21st century. The gods and goddesses of old have scattered as they've lost their influence on everyone's daily lives. Syrinx renamed Sylvia now owns and manages a flower shop. All is well in her new mortal life until "Mother of Hotness" Parker Thomas hires Sylvia's shop to decorate his estate for a party and she has to fight feelings she hasn't felt for centuries.

LOL! The war between Chastity and Fertility has never been told this way! Their cat and mouse game had more twists and turns than I thought possible! I laughed and couldn't put the book down until I was done!

Very Good!

Syrinx, the Goddess of Chastity, is on the run. She needs to escape Pan, the God of Fertility. He desires her and he won't stop until he has her. To find peace, she goes to the mortal world and assumes a human identity. Is she safe? She is happy on earth and enjoys working with her flowers. However, everything changes when she meets the charismatic Parker Thomas. He tempts her, but what does she know about him? Will she break her vow of chastity? Will she find love? Aubrie Dionne writes a romantic story of love among the Gods. I felt the magic and the sexual chemistry that surrounds Syrinx and Pan. The story is well written, the dialogue is lively and the romance is passionate. It was touching to see Pan learn from a mere human that love is precious when it's shared with that one special person. I love Pan's Conquest. This book is a keeper.

I love the myth and legend behind this book and for me you don't get to read about Pan nearly enough so a Book with him as the love interest yes please! He has met his match in the Goddess of Chasity and is truly shocked when she flees from him. Made me smile a bit at that, cause I am sure he had that feeling of "shes saying no to me?!" that some men get. To me he took the high road though when opting for seduction even if it is under his fake mortal persona.

This book is well written and has a fantastic steady pacing that makes it enjoyable to read. There were no points that I felt were too slow or so fast that they were convoluted. It was just the right touch of everything. This was the first time for me to read Aubrie Dionne but I can say with this style of writing and enjoyable characters it won't be the last.

Pan’s Conquest is a fun, easy read. The author, Aubrie Dionne, lulls you into the mythological tale of Pan (God of Fertility) and Syrinx (Goddess of Chastity). And then, she takes you on a journey of modern day love with a Godly twist.

Tired of running from Pan’s pursuits, Syrinx escapes her life and becomes Sylvia Rains, a florist. She creates a life for herself among the human race. But, what she doesn’t count on is Pan’s determination. When Parker Thomas, a rich businessman, shows up in her life requesting her floral services and some personal time, she doesn’t know what hit her. And she sure doesn’t know it’s her long lost stalker.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, romantic read. You’ll enjoy the story, the characters, and most of all the love.

I was given an ARC for my honest review

Look for my review in the next couple of days. but for now this book was really good. it left me saying "wow".

Ok I still don't have the words for this book. I loved the mythological aspect dealing with the main characters. They can live in any century they choose and they end up in our time. One is running from the other, and one chasing to win another conquest in bed. But they never would have known that they would fall in love.

This is a must read.

Light up a floral candle and put on your fuzzy slippers on and steep your herbal tea. Get ready for a surprisingly fresh and unique tale of a god, Pan and a water nymph, "Sylvia" as they dance around their true natures while residing in the human realm. I truly fell in love with this story. Mythology is based on God's with human characteristics, good, bad and ugly, but also of the positives of human nature as well, such as love, and friendship. This story does a great job of keeping the main characters grounded and believable as Gods, yet not out of reach to emphasize with their plight.

Lust to Love.....Pan is the greek god of fertility who has followed Syrinx the goddess of chasity to modern times...Even though she desires him too, she doesn't want to be 'just another notch on his belt'....and at first, it is just about conquest for him. Both gods are pretending to be mortal to fit in. There is really a sweet story about them really getting to know each other and themselves....and about how people can change....and about love. Both Pan and Syrinx are very likeable, vulnerable characters....and Pan is both super sexy and sweet at the same time....Good story

Sylvia's friend Kaye and Rutherford stole my heart in this book. Pan and Sylvia were also great, but I loved Rutherford and I really wanted Kaye to find her happy ending (may I have her story?). Rutherford was much a sweet old man and a father figure to Pan and Kaye was the best friend Sylvia could have. She was very supportive and helped Sylvia when things were bad.

I laughed when I read the book and I shed a tear or two. I enjoyed it and you will too. Sylvia and Pan are total opposites and yet they are perfect for each other. I liked the end of this story more than the myth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book: Pan and Syrinx are a true delight. No story is complete without the evil one of course which in this case would be Coral. Kaye is a great supporting character in this book she helps Syrinx with many important choices as well as her business. I love this story because though it has to so with Greek God’s it shows that even the mythological have troubles when it comes to love it is not just a human problem.

I received a reviewers copy of this novella, and considering some of the ones I've received through the same program, I didn't have very high expectations. However, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of information put into this so that there was nothing lacking in the story. You got to see the two main characters change in a way that worked. It definitely made me want to find more stories from this author.

"Pan's Conquest" by Aubrie Dionne is a story that deals with some of the Greek gods and myths that people might not be that familiar with. Instead of going the easy route and writing about the famous gods like Zeus, Athena, or Aphrodite, Dionne writes about Syrinx, the goddess of chastity and Pan, the god of fertility.

Obviously chastity and fertility aren't normally two traits that go well together. However, ever since Pan spotted Syrinx bathing, he's wanted to add her to his long list of conquests. She proves to be the first one he's ever pursued that doesn't giggle and welcome his advances, and the challenge just makes him want her all the more. Instead of continually being on the run, Syrinx decides to take matter in her own hands and leaves for the modern mortal world so she could hide from him and live life among humans.

Syrinx changes her name and starts to run a flower shop. Also, since every story needs a good conflict, Pan soon finds out where she's hidden and disguises himself as he continues his pursuit. The story is told from the point of views from both Syrinx and Pan, so the reader gets to see all of the feelings that are driving the actions. The dual POV lets us watch as Syrinx starts to fall for Pan's alter ego, Parker, as she deals with what that means for her vow of chastity, and we also get to see Pan's inner thoughts as he starts to see Syrinx as something more than someone to bed.

"Pan's Conquest" is very much a story about character growth. Both of the characters start with rigid beliefs or lifestyles, and then through interacting with each other, they slowly begin to grow and realize there's more to life than what they originally thought. Syrinx must learn that she's more than just her pledge for chastity and Pan needs to learn there's more to relationships than sleeping with someone and moving on to the next conquest.

I enjoyed being able to watch these two grow as they interacted with each other. Although Syrinx didn't know Pan's true identity, he knew hers and it was fun to watch him subtly toy with her with small remarks towards whom she really is. All of their interactions were an entertaining read as we were able to watch Pan slowly get under Syrinx's defenses as she in turn also got under his skin. Syrinx is both determined and hardworking, and it makes sense that if anyone could change Pan's frivolous behavior, it would be her.

I would definitely recommend "Pan's Conquest". It's a romantic novel with a bit of a Greek mythos twist, which makes it stand out from the crowd. This story is also refreshing for dealing with less known gods instead of the ones that are normally written about.

Syrinx pulled a fast one on Pan to escape his raging lust. The God of Chastity wasn't about to break her vows and succumb to his temptations. Transported to the twenty-first century, she runs a florist shop—fulfilling her fake, mortal life. Until the breathtaking Parker Thomas hires her to decorate his grand estate for a gala. Five hundred roses? Easy enough. Except Parker makes her feel things she can't ignore...

As the God of Fertility, Pan is used to maidens flocking in droves to his pastures. So when Syrinx denies him, he's determined to win the one that got away. He poses as a mortal to get close to her, but he doesn't count on falling hard for his conquest—hard enough to make a life and stay.

But Syrinx is falling in love with a man that doesn't exist. Can Pan hide his identity forever, or will the truth tear them apart?

Review:

I love stories that mix mythology with romance, including this one.

This is the story of Pan, the God of Fertility and Syrinx, the Goddess of Chastity. They have both been long ruled by what they perceive/expect themselves to be instead of living how they really want to be or live.

Pan has chased Syrinx forever and to escape him Syrinx gets Coral's help and comes to the present. Sylvia (Syrinx) has lived in the present for 5 years and has become a strong, smart business woman who runs her own florist shop. In comes Parker (Pan) who finally learns where Syrinx has gone to. Parker spends a year in the present and comes to depend/befriend his butler, Rutherford for help. Parker hires Sylvia to decorate his house for a big party and in the mean time tries to insinuate himself in her life. What starts out as a mere conquest quickly turns into much more.

I really enjoyed this story, it had much depth and the characters really grew. Seeing them fall in love and the obstacles they had to overcome was a pleasure to read. I thought Coral was a great baddie, who truly gave me the picture of the girl from the Ring...lol but even she had depth and that what made it so believable. The scenes with Parker and Rutherford were great emotionally and wish there were more between them. Though I do want to know, why Rutherford's son Daniel looks so much like Parker/Pan. I loved the ending and thought the resolution was perfect for the story.

Before I read Pan's Conquest, I had discussion with my friend about monster erotica that she just read. I will not go into detail of what we talked about. Just when I start reading this and realize that Pan is half man and half goat, plus my friend said about "bestiality", I try to not visualize Pan in his horn and hooves. Because, it was "yuck!" Fortunately we will read him as a mortal man in this novella, because the woman he chased over and over flee to the mortal world.

Pan's Conquest actually is a sweet re-telling of a tragedy tale from Greek Myth, about Pan and Syrinx, a river nymph that also goddess of chastity. Pan himself is a god of fertility, so yeah, they are not match made in Mt Olympus. Pan disguised himself as Parker Thomas in order to meet Syrinx that now is a florist named Sylvia Rain. The basic of this story mostly about how Pan finally learn about love from his loyal buttler Rutherford and how Syrinx can overcome her vow of chastity to accept love from a god that once chased her but also make her heart beating.

I like this re-telling. The story is so simple and also quick to read. The secondary characters like Rutherford and Kaye, Syrinx's friend add depth to the story. But, ehm I have my little complaint. Usually when reading Covet books, I will guaranted one or two hot sex scenes from both MCs. And because hero of this book is god of fertility, so, yeah, steamy sex, here I come! Turn that, I really, really disappointed. We just have some kiss scenes from Pan and Syrinx, and when it come when they finally have sex, it's like.. nothing happen! Fade to black scene! Maybe you will think that I'm exaggerated, but I need my smut! Especially from Covet title.

It feel silly to reduce the stars because lack of sex scene, but I do have one more reason. The ending is too simple, the villain also, well, two dimensional. So, if you want to read a sweet story, with touch of Greek myth and need a quick read too, you can consider to read Pan's Conquest.

Syliva Rain owns the flower shop Sylvia’s Creations and she’s not doing too badly considering she’s Syrinx, a goddess imitating a human and living without using her powers. When she gets an order for 500 roses for an important client and he invites her to the house to take measurements, she and her assistant Kaye go to meet this rich mysterious man. However, when Syrinx meets Parker Thomas she’s attracted to him and that’s not good for the goddess of chastity. After all, hadn’t she fled to the 21st century to escape the attentions of Pan, the god of fertility, to protect what she held most dear? If she could resist giving in to Pan then she could certainly resist a mere human. She doesn’t realize though that Parker Thomas is actually Pan, come to the human realm in pursuit of the one who got away. And Pan doesn’t know that in his pursuit, he will face some hard truths about himself. What happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object? Looks like we’re about to find out.

This is a great read. The writing is wonderful and the characters seem to just step right off the page. It made my office seem a bit crowded, but it was worth it. I loved Syrinx, but Pan is the one who stole my heart. At first, he was a bit of a jerk. He is just interested in getting laid. I know he’s the god of fertility and all that, but it just made him seem kinda sleazy. When he goes human and interacts with his butler Rutherford and then later when Syrinx talks about her ‘stalker’ (Pan) that’s when he starts seeing himself in a different light and he doesn’t particularly like what he sees. He grows as a character and that makes him wonderful. My only complaint is that I really didn’t get who Rutherford was and why he felt Pan, er, Parker Thomas needed him or how he even knew. I even thought he might have been a god in disguise, but that didn’t pan out. Hehe I said pan. Anyway, this is an excellent boy-chases-girl story with wonderful characters and mythology added for extra spice.
