Gluttony and neglect have brought a severe soul shortage to the demons of Hell. The rising generation of demons-in-training is tasked with dragging humanity down to a new low in order to pay for their continued existence. Minor Demons follows Shadow, son of Abaddon, and several other demons-in-training as they become minor demons and wage a war against angels, humans, and sometimes other demons.
Minor Demons incorporates elements from the Bible, Dante's Inferno, mythology, and angelology / demonology into compelling action / adventure dystopian fiction.
Good book. Straight forward, no fluff or filler. The story is good and the Characters are very likable and funny. I will be reading the second book in this series.
Minor Demons will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! This unique tale is told from the perspective of demons and the author did an exemplary job of capturing their brutal nature while evoking humanistic elements into their personalities. With cunning dialogue and constant action, this novel will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment!
The story is clever telling things from hells side of life. I did find the mistakes in spelling and tenses to be very distracting. I hope that the other stories are better edited.
Not bad. Pretty good for a YA novel dealing with some sensitive topics - good vs. evil, sex, temptation, demons and idolatry. Character development is well done, if a bit superficial. Interesting take, from the bad side of the tracks.
Not a hard read, nor a challenging one. Grammar and spelling mistakes were annoying, but typical of using a word processor's grammar and spell checker. A good yarn.
Minor Demons is entertaining and has a concept that I have not yet come across. It deals with demons having their rites of passage into respectability and rank. We follow characters jockeying for positions against other characters and forming friendships. Some friendships become alliances against other demon alliances which, at times, is interesting. The writing style is easy enough for the reader to follow and the images come easily to the reader's mind. The best of the writing comes at the very beginning, prologue which is written so well that the rest of the story struggles to compete. There may be a little more use of adult language that what some may argue should be in a book that seems to have a young adult target audience. The fight scenes were nicely written but the characterization was not as strong. This may have more to do with my personal prejudices against demon and angel characters than Randall Morris' ability. I like the genre and I like to read stories with angels and demon characters, but I am often disappointed that the characters have no or little complexity and they are often depicted in a very human likeness in terms of motivation and interaction. In Minor Demons, this also held true. If Morris could find a way to make give the characters a non-human side I think the concept of demons earning their strips would become just as attractive and maybe as clichéd as angels earning their wings.
Fun read with a twist to what is known about heaven and hell.
Overall a good book. Minor amount of grammar errors but nothing that detracted from the book. A different look at the hierarchy of hell and how it works.
I just hope there is more depth with the character and scene in the next book and the pace of the series slows down a bit. a lot happen in a short amount of time.
