Not everyone gets a second chance at love, but it's happening for Steve and Elizabeth. Separated for twenty years, they reconnected with each other through a Christmas miracle. Now they have a chance to find out what they missed out on decades earlier. Can true love bridge the space of the years that came between them?
Second Chance Valentines is an 11,000 word love story that is the second in the Second Chance Love series, but can be read as a standalone story.
Elizabeth is judgmental and close-minded. Steve makes every concession in this story. To be fair, I didn't read the first book, but the precis claims it can be read as a stand-alone and I believed it. Elizabeth acts like a young girl instead of a supposedly mature 40ish woman. Yes, she seems to have had few life experiences, but she is so prejudiced against anyone or anything that may cost money and just runs away from the problem and hides. Then, suddenly they have worked out their differences. Now, I know this is a very short story, but there was absolutely no resolution to their problems. At the end of the conflict, Steve says he will give up everything in his life that Elizabeth is uncomfortable with, i.e., his company, his career, his money, his house, his mother, his friends, his car, his cell-phone (yes, even his cell phone bugs her) so that he can move in with Elizabeth and be with her. Then literally in the next paragraph we find them happily every after (20 days later). Wait, what??? Elizabeth needs to grow in order for this relationship to work and the reader doesn't see that happen. How is this a stand-alone story?
This book was short and sweet. I enjoyed the story of how these two met again and are getting reacquainted with each other. I enjoyed the characters a lot. I felt like I was in the book. However, the book ended in the middle of a thought for me. I felt like there needed to be something else included in that ending. It’s not a cliff hanger per se but it does leave you saying what the heck just happened. I felt that this messed with the flow of the book just ending in what felt like the middle of a thought wrecked it for me. All in all it was a great book and I would continue with this series. I enjoyed the authors writing style a lot.
In this book, which is second in the Second Chance Love Story series, Steve gets together with Lizzie for their first date. Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this couple.
This is a short story that will be easy to follow even if you haven't read the first. The author gives the basic background on how they met after 20 years apart. It is a sweet romance with a bit of conflict between the two of them. We learn more about Lizzie and Steve's past.
Valentine's Day will be here soon and this is a good romance that is a nice easy read. You will fall in love with this series!
This is the love that never dies. This is the friendship that should always rise. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read the next installment as well as reading the other books available.
I loved this story. It was a great, clean story of true love that had lasted after 20 years of not seeing each other. The social differences between the 2 main characters is interesting to see them overcome.
An ok story, but really short. There was more talk about what happened 20 years ago than what was currently happening. Language: some swearing not a lot; heat level mild
