Live together, die together ... Three years after the end of The Tube Exile, the Governor is preparing for war with Europe. Within Mega Britain's cities, pockets of rebels fight and die in the name of Marta Banks, brave leader of the surviving Tube Riders. The Tube Riders themselves though, have disappeared. With their trail gone cold, the Governor and his deadly Huntsmen have no way to find them. That is, until the day the Governor recovers a long lost treasure from his past, an ancient artifact that could crush the rebellion for good. Marta Banks is about to lose everything. The epic Tube Riders Trilogy concludes with The Tube Revenge.
Some years have passed since Exile (Book 2). Marta is now a mother, living with her husband and children in the Freeman’s settlement in the Cornwall exclusion zone. However, a raid carried out by the Governor’s guards has taken her children and killed her husband, and Marta finds herself a Tube Rider once again, and the inspirational leader of a violent rebellion as she sets out to rescue her children and exact revenge on the Governor. Will she succeed in freeing the children? What will her fate be?
Revenge is a rip-roaring ride through a violent rebellion against a tyrant that has repressed more people and groups than are initially apparent. All they need is a leader, even a reluctant leader…one who is willing to charge into danger and take what it brings.
However, the Governor has special powers and some type of alien artifact influencing him. The rebellion is balanced on a thread. Will fate favor the rebels or the governor?
The action is unrelenting as Marta and the remaining Tube Riders hurtle toward their fate! So settle in and prepare to cling to the edge of your seat all night reading Revenge.
In this third book of the Tube Riders trilogy, the surviving Tube Riders have gone to ground and their brave leader, Marta Banks, is happy to leave it that way as she concentrates on trying to bring up her twins safely out of the eye of the ruthless Governor, who rules Britain. Throughout his tyrannical rule, the Governor has been ploughing all the country’s resources into a space programme, seeking a secret artefact sent into space by the previous government. Now he has found it and he can concentrate his powers on finding the Tube Riders and punishing them. Marta and her children are in mortal danger. I think Chris Ward is one of the greats. He writes fluently and accurately, his plots are exciting, his characters well-drawn and believable, and his pacing superb. This final episode of the Tube Riders is like a ride on a roller coaster. We finally discover what it is the Governor has been seeking all these years . . . and how utterly deadly it is. I was gripped throughout. An absolutely superb read.
This trilogy was the best trilogy I have read recently. Brilliantly written, not my normal type of book but having previously read Chris's works I needed a change from my other authors. The characters are well defined, the plots solid and the chapters flow smoothly from start to finish! Once you read the first, The Tuber Riders: Underground, you will have to jump into the other Tuber Riders adventures to find how or if it ends!! There is not a bad word I can say about the Tube Riders Trilogy - just a genuinely great read.
I need this book series to become a TV series. The story is so binge-able. Not movies. Draw it out. Walking Dead style. There's soooo much excitement and adventure and crazy details in this dystopian future London that need to be further explored. The way I envision the government experiments, the gangs, the governor...And Dreggo, oh Dreggo. Such a cool series. If you like dystopian sci-fi with minimal romance, give it a go ✌️💕
An amazing series! Loved every sequel and will continue to read Chris Ward’s books. What an imagination! Nothing like any of the other series of this genre...original storyline.
Like the other two books in the Tube Rider Trilogy, Revenge was just awesome. Now 3 years after the end of Exile, what remains of the Tube Riders has come back from France. The EU hasn't lifted a finger to help the people of Mega Britan. Marta is living with the Free Folks staying under the radar to protect her twin children, thinking the Governor didn't know where she was. The remaining Tube Riders were spread across the country. When the Governor sends his personal guard to steal Marta's children, she must go from being a mother back to being a Tube Rider and to be the one to unite the people to defeat the Governor and get her children back.
The Tube Rider Trilogy is a great story and very well written. I was sorry to see it come to an end.
So the Tube Riders trilogy comes to an end. Ultimately, there is nothing special about this book. Carl appears to be the only highlight in this miserable world; bringing light to a book plagued in misery.
Revenge centres on Marta and her children who are kidnapped by the Governor. In a bid to protect them she starts a long overdue rebellion with the aid of the other tube riders. She is not your typical heroin but, rather annoying and self centred making me wish the true protagonist was either Carl or Switch.
However, the conclusion to this tale itself is satisfactory and for those who have divulged in the trilogy it is worth continuing. Do I expect myself to re-read these books? No, sadly they were no more than average.
This trilogy was the best set of books I have read. Just brilliant, not my normal type of book but my Husband said give it ago. I am so glad I did, so much to enjoy and also really well written. Even the bad guys character are written so you dislike them but still care what happens to them rather than not. Very strong female characters but also the male are not your usual macho type, championing the every day guy. There is not really a bad word I can say about the Tube Riders Trilogy - just a genuinely great read.
The action and adventure continue to come thick and fast as the story comes to a climatic end. There are yet more glimpses into the darkness of the future along the way, and once again the despotic Governor is far from a black and white baddie. For all the evil he causes there is still a core within him that believes he is doing the right thing. Brilliant writing and a great end to the series.
This third book in the Tube Rider series was every bit as exciting as the first two. I hated to see it end. A wonderful mix of reality, dystopia, and fantasy, the story is engaging and the characters are endearing. I would have liked to see more about life after the fall of the megalomaniac and how the characters recovered, especially the mutants.
