She thought she was stepping into fame.

Meeting Drezden Halifax should have been a dream. But dreams are supposed to be sweet, fragile things that whisk you away. Not monsters crafted from hard fingers, gritty vocal cords and a voice so powerful it could tear my guts right out.

Maybe my heart, too.

Becoming the guitarist for Four and a Half Headstones was everything I needed.
Too bad the band's lead singer is doing his best to ruin everything I am.

He thought she would solve his troubles.

Lola Cooper, god damn Lola Cooper. She was the perfect guitarist, fingers that could summon a sweet song or punch a chord. She's supposed to save my band, make us come out of this tour in one piece...

But I just want to tear HER to pieces.

No one should make me feel this way. One look at her, one smell, and I knew I'd have to have her. She does things to me that scare the shit out of me. Make me want to slam her on a wall and listen to her cries: eager or fearful, it doesn't matter.

I'm a monster...
And I don't even care.

description

Okay, so this one took me by surprise! It was really a wonderful read. I am definitely a fan of the way Nora Flite puts words together!!! I loved the characters in this so much. Lola is so badass and the fact that she doesn't realize it is actually cute in this and not annoying. I love any story that has siblings as best friends in it because well I can identify with that very well. I also love books where the main characters are musicians and the author actually works in some of the lyrics! Awesome stuff!!! Also... there was stroking in this one... IJS!

I was into the story and really enjoying this one....until the moment I realized it was a novella. Ugh. Such a turn off!! Really wish I had done my research on this one- I wouldn't have bothered with book 1 had I known it was a novella/serial or whateverthehell it is.

Then I looked at the price for book 2 and inexplicably it was $2.99 as opposed to the .99 I paid for book 1. WHY??? It's not like book 2 is any longer!

Such a disappointment, and really not for me.

Salve amiche.

4.5 HEADSTONE STARS

Wow... I have to say when I saw the feed for this book, at first I ignored it. I mean, I have enough to read, Right?! Well, I kept getting alerts from the feed with people responding that they liked it and I can't resist a good Rock Star Romance. Now that I've read it, I can totally understand what everyone else, who'd previously read it, has been going on about.

Lola Cooper, nineteen year old little sister to Barbed Fire lead singer and guitar player Sean Cooper. She's acting as a roadie for the band, on tour as supporting act to Four and a Half Headstones.

description

When guitarist Johnny is thrown out of the band in the middle of the tour by lead singer Drezden Halifax (let me stop and say that is a freaking awesome name), they hold an impromptu audition for his replacement, which Lola wins, much to her surprise. She's learned from the best, her brother, but isn't confident in her own talent. When she blows the band away, she is thrown into dynamics she's not yet prepared for. What's with how Drez is treating her and why does she feel the way she does whenever he looks at her? Why did Sean recommend she audition if he seems so funny now that she's gotten the position?

But the biggest issue is that Drez is finding it harder and harder to talk himself into staying away from Lola, for the sake of the band, for his and mostly for her sake.

description

There is passion for the music, anticipation of an attraction, lust and anxiety. You read it and feel it in every line. I love the dual point of view of the growing attraction between Lola an Drezden. Both of them talking themselves out of what they feel and what they think they see in the other. The curiosity of their pasts is palpable.

All I can say is I'm going to dive right into the next book Slow Body Rock that the author has graciously sent to me. I love finding a new voice. It doesn't always work out, but in this case... It Worked!

Caratteristiche: rock, romantico, sensuale
Stile narrativo: scorrevole
Tipo di finale: chiuso

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Please know that while this isn't a long book, it will literally grab your attention within the first two paragraphs; you won't remember to exhale until this story has released you from its vise-like grip when you see those four dreaded words:

"End of Book One"

Once you see those four words, you should already have book two lined up in your queue next, because you won't want to let the downtime in between linger for too long.

I love the dual POV narration in the story; Nora Flite managed to capture both Drez's and Lola's feelings equally, but without making either MC sound either too self-serving, or weak. We get to experience Lola's nervousness when she plays with the band for the first time in practice, how she saw Drez's reaction to her mistakes and what she does to handle the situation. At the same time, we really get to see the effect Lola has on Drez (but he refuses to let it show around anyone else). On top of that, throw in sexual tension and you've got one helluva story!

I can't wait to learn more about both Lola's and Drez's backstory, and how the situation with Lola's brother Sean plays out. I highly recommend this series!

I'm new to this author and found her writing edgy, funky and unique. I can't recall reading anything else like it. That being said, I kind of got lost in translation. I felt like the book was too descriptive that I kept getting confused about what was really going on. Where Drezden's POV was pretty clear and direct, I found Lola's was convoluted. It was all over the place, especially the scene in the bathroom. Wth was that?! A bunch of useless words to say that you fell in the bathtub and felt his hard-on. I hope the next book is clearer because I feel like I just walked out of a fog!

I don't normally read novellas or short books, but since this is a two book series and I'm reading them back to back, I can almost pretend that they are one average sized book. It was a decent start, full of sexual tension. Nothing past some major animal attraction but they're both fighting it like champs. Hopefully the next book will see some action. The writing really surprised me, I thought it was really decent. Now I'm gonna move right on to the next. So far so good...

Part one of a four book series.

I hadn't expected this to be that short, to be honest, I was only just getting into it.

Lola was on tour with her brother, helping his band with equipment, they were a supporting band to the main attraction.
When Drezden who is the lead singer of the headliner band has a fall out with their guitarist while on tour, it leads to the guitarist being kicked out of the band, Drezden and the other members have to begin auditions for a new guitarist and find a new guitarist quick.

Talented 19 year old Lola auditions with a push from her brother and unexpectedly gets the job but has two days to practice with the band before going on stage.

There is instant attraction between Lola and Drezden, obviously Lola already had a crush on Drezden, she was a huge fan and Drezden who is older, a rock star and can pretty much have any woman he wants can't figure out the pull that is happening towards quiet, timid, Lola.

That's pretty much it, the beginning of a new adventure for Lola, the beginning of Drezdens infatuation for his new band member.
I'm not sure why this is split into four books, I'm sort of curious about how it will all play out and what's to come but not overenthusiastic about reading on, maybe I will maybe I won't?

Told in first persons pov.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Buona lettura, Lorena

Wow what a pleasant surprise! I loved Hard Body Rock by Nora Flite! It was a very quick read with only 130 pages and it moves along fast, but not rushed. It doesn't have a definitive ending but it picks up where it left off in book 2, Slow Body Rock (which I am reading right now).

The story is told by the POVs of Lola and Drezden. Drezden is the hot headed lead singer of Four and a Half Headstones. After he kicks out one of his guitar players while on tour, he needs to find a replacement and he needs to find one fast because their next performance is in two days.

He had a vibe that was overwhelming. It suffocated me, dared me to inhale more or to let myself pass out in a daze. - Lola

Lola is a roadie for her older brother's band, who are touring with the headlining band Four and a Half Headstones. When Sean, Lola's brother hears about the audition for a new guitar player, he finds Lola and tells her to go give it a shot.

Little did she know that she would blow them away with her talent.

She was good. So fucking good, I was falling into the trap of her music. It wrapped me tight, tempting me to sink in and let her keep going. Lola's eyes were closed, lower lip tucked just slightly in her teeth. She was living in that moment like it was her last. I knew that look. The body language of someone in their own creative trance. Every small movement she made was intentional. She traveled across the guitar, a land she'd been living in all her life. There was no part of the instrument, the song, that was a mystery to her. - Drezden

The angst and attraction between Lola and Drezden is undeniable but he doesn't want to destroy the band if things when wrong and Lola doesn't want to risk her future and career. They are both fighting their attraction for each other and I think that it is just a matter of time before they both explode!

Sometimes, even if it was the right decision, choosing music over other things made me feel hollow.
I couldn't risk the band over a fucking pair of pretty blue eyes that turned my blood to liquid silver.
It was too reckless. For them... And for her. - Drezden

If you enjoy rockers and the rocker life, hot guys, sexual tension, and angst, then go buy it now! But - make sure you buy book 2 too, because it picks up as if you are still reading the same book.

5 Stars!!!!!

*HARD BODY ROCK*

Lead singer Drezden Halifax kicks the lead guitarist out of his band, with a show coming up in just two days they have to find someone quick. Lola Cooper is traveling with her brothers band helping with equipment and stuff when he talks her into auditioning for Four and a half Headstones, whom she has been obsessed with from their begining. Sparks fly from the very first moment that Drez and Lola lay eyes on eachother!

The beginning of this book hit me hard! (*winks.) It grabs your interest on the very first page. I love how mesmerized Drez gets by Lola's playing and how she throws him off balance and he doesn't know quite how to handle it. This was a great short story with a nice build up. The author is able to make even the most simple of scenes very erotic. Drezden seems much older than 21 and its reinforced when he continually calls Lola "the kid" maybe because he was young when they hit it big? I like that Lola's past was not always sunshine and rainbows. She has a little darkness in her, especially for someone so young.

In a genre as big as Rock-star Romance Hard Body Rock is different enough to really make it stand out. There was just enough of a twist to it to make it something new and interesting.

Some minor issues I had were that I would have liked to have had a slightly more detailed physical description of Drez and Lola, and I would like for the story to have occurred over a slightly longer period of time. It would have given more credence to the feelings of Drez and Lola. It really wasn't that big of a deal for me though, it was a fun read

This was a great story and I cant wait to read the next one! I would also love to learn more about some of the other band members!

This was an ARC I received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is actually a hard review to write since I have a few conflicting thoughts.
Drez is the lead singer for Four and Half Headstones. Quickly you know that the lead guitarist has been released from the band. They are in search of a replacement. In comes Lola who auditions for the position. And now the story begins. You can literally feel the friction beteen both Drez and Lola. But this is where I feel like the book fell short. Lola comes off tough, honest, sweet, strong and only 19. Drez is a total lead singer who is HOT, in control, strong, and quickly obsessed with this feisty 19 year old Lola.

1) 5 Stars for an up and coming Alpha Male Hot Romance
2) 3 Stars for ending to quickly
3) 4 Stars for creating awesome friction between Drez and Lola
4) 3.5 Stars for dropping hints about the characters personality - but not enough individual character development for me to get to know the characters or get emotionally entangled with them.

I did however buy the second book that came out - Slow Body Rock. This second installment helps develop the characters and fills in several missing gaps. Worth the read overall.

I'll begin by saying this book was too short. Way too short! This doesn't mean I didn't like it.

Drezden Halifax is the lead singer of the Four and a Half Headstones. He has a bad temper and no patience. Now that he's kicked his guitarist out of the band, he needs to find a new one. ASAP.

Here's where Lola Cooper comes in. She's helping her brother's band during the tour in which Four and a Half Headstones are participating and she ends up auditioning for the place of guitarist. Lola has always been a fan, and Drezden's songs have been her solace during some rough times. Being in the band is a dream come true for her and the chance of a lifetime. She hadn't thought about the crush she has on Drez though, and now, when she has to listen to him sing and do the backup, things don't run very smoothly. Like I said, the guy has a temper.

With the story being so short, I can't say more without going into spoiler territory but, trust me, you don't want to miss this book. I've already read the second installment, Slow Body Rock and can't wait for the third.

Happy reading!

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. I could not put these books down and stayed up until the early hours reading his book. This book is awesome it has so much chemistry and passion in it. Drezden is looking for a new member of his band, and has found it in Lola. She is talented and Drezden has also noticed that she is smoking hot. Lola's dreams have come true and she is going to become a musician, however after joining the band she realises that it's not nerves that affects her it's Drezden. Whilst practicing she makes the odd mistake, but its not nerves that affects her it's the intense, lustrous looks she's getting from the hot lead singer. But Lola just starting out, she can't jeopardise her career, her dreams. Drezden feels a connection and one that he cannot deny. One hot read, loved it, I love rockstar stories and this is one of my favourite.

* I received this ARC in exchange for a honest review*

Lola is a roadie for her brother's band. Her brother's band is the opening act. She gets her opportunity to audition for the main band. Lola and Drez, the main singer, have an instant attraction. But they don't act on it for reasons she goes into in the book. This is a great book that lays the foundation for the two that follow. I can't say enough about this book and their story has only begun. She def leaves you wanting more. It will be interesting to find out more about Lola's history to make her the way she is now. Awesome job! Hurry with the next one ;) I've only read the first novella and already know I will reread again in the future!

Round 2 of reading this book and its just as good as the first time. This book and this entire series is HOT!!
Drezden is the lead singer of Four and aHalf Headstones. His band is looking for a new guitarist. In walks Lola to audition for the position. There’s no question she’s the best they have seen. As soon as Drezden and Lola meet its instant attraction and chemistry. Can’t wait to jump into book 2 again and read more!! ;-)

Awwww! What a beautiful story! I just loved it.
She is great and strong, he is sexy, enigmatic and caring.

The only reason this book doesn't get 5 stars is because it was too short and I wanted more. Also I want to know what happens with Sean and their tour.

The writing was nice, smooth and sexy. I can't wait to read the second part of this story.

****4 ½ -I need a cold shower- Stars****
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

When I'd been told that morning that I'd be joining Four and a Half Headstones, I was sure it would be the biggest change in my life.
Now, with the musky flavor of Drezden Halifax in my nose... the imprint of how his hands felt on my naked skin...
I was sure I'd changed even more.

Well damn, this book left me a jumbled mixed up mess with the worst case of female blue-balls (whatever that may be Lol) ever. The strangest part was, everything that happened, and it was a lot, all too place in the span of one day. That's right, you heard me- One Day. Don't take that to mean it was an insta-love story, it's not thank god, now insta-lust on the other hand.....

“Whoever we get, we'll need them fast. We've got two days before the next show.”
“That's a fucking slim-shot.”
“He'll need to be reliable, and not a god damn joke like our last guy.”
“Our last guy who is probably not going to just vanish contently.”
“So, he'll need to be tough, reliable, talented, and not mind that our last guy might resent his ass without even knowing him.”
“Like I said earlier, Brenda is going to be pissed at you. No way we'll find someone like that, not out here, man. We're touring around for fuck's sake! Drez, do you honestly think replacing someone like Johnny is possible at this stage in the game?”

This book starts off with a bang when Four and a Half Headstones lead singer, Drezden Halifax, goes toe to toe with his lead guitarist and kicks him out of the band. While no one was particularly surprised by the turns of events, Johnny has been on a downward spiral for quite some time now, it does leave the band in a bit of a bind. Currently on tour and two days away from their next show, they need to find a killer musician and fast. Enter Lola Cooper, sister of the lead guitarist of one of the opening acts on tour 'Barbed Fire'.

She was in my band now. Mine. Turning back would solve nothing. I need her, there's so one else. She'd signed the papers. As far as I should have been concerned.... it was done.

After blowing everyone away at her impromptu audition, Lola cannot believe she is the new lead guitarist in a band she's been obsessed with since they first entered the scene. But becoming the bands newest member turns out to be the easy part, now she has to prove herself and she has very little time to do, it's a lot of pressure. Doesn't help that being so near Drezden is completely throwing her off her game and stirring up feelings she doesn't know what to do with.

The situation had transformed back to me, the weak fan pretending to be worthy of Drezden's glory. And him, a fucking god of rock who spun perverse thoughts to life in me just by being near.
Just by being alive.

Drezden is unsure of what to do about Lola. Besides his dislike and mistrust of her brother, she stirs a lust in him so strong he constantly fighting to keep his hands off her. Giving into his desires would be a very bad idea, it would risk everything he has worked so hard to achieve, he can't get mixed up with a fellow band member and risk her leaving-he needs her if h wants his tour to go on. Period. So why is it getting harder and harder (pun totally intended) to remind himself of that fact with the more time her spends camped on a tour bus with her.

The heat in her skin sent a quick thrill up my spine. Gripping Lola hard, catching the flash of confusion in her eyes, I released her. I didn't know if I liked how fast she was making my heart dance. It wasn't normal for anyone to throw me for such a loop.

This book was a lot shorter than I was expecting. I knew it was book one in a series, so I almost expected a cliffhanger, but that's not what I got. What I got is the book just ending, day one of Lola becoming a band member comes to a close as does the book. I was left with so many questions- what exactly is going on in Sean's head? Have we seen the last of Johnny? How much longer can Drez & Lola fight off the inevitable? Will Lola blow them all away again when she finally gets on stage or will she fail miserably? Fortunatly, book two (Slow Body Rock) is already out and the second I finished reading the last line of this book, book two was downloaded to my kindle. But for now, I need a cold shower plus a huge Hell Yeah and Thank You to Nora Flite for knocking me on my ass like this ;)

If I had just never met Lola Cooper...
I wouldn't need to have her so badly...

Lola might not know what was in store for her, but I didn't care. Not anymore. All I wanted was her. Now that I knew she wanted me, even if it was just on some physically subconscious level she was only just learning of... it was the temptation. I would do everything I could to make her mine. And as long as she was in my band, there was security in knowing I had a chunk of time to make it all happen.

Cazzo, quanto avrei voluto baciarla.

Buona lettura!
