Michael Monroe is about to turn thirty and is going nowhere-literally. His car just broke down, he's lost his job, his boyfriend dumped him, and he has $442.62 left to his name. Not a good look for the only son of Olivia Monroe, the ultrarich owner of the Daisy Diamond empire. Olivia left Michael to financially fend for himself after an arrest during his college years embarrassed the family, and he's failing miserably. Rejected, frustrated, and lost, Michael screams, "What am I doing wrong? Just give me a sign!" to the universe, never dreaming he'll get an answer. Even more shocking is who delivers his very own guardian angel, the iconic and forever-feisty Whitney Houston.
Chaos ensues when a psychic picks up on Whitney's presence at Michael's new job and a film crew captures the interaction. Thus begins a magical, spiritual journey that takes Michael, his best friend Lucy, and even his mother on a whirlwind adventure with Whitney from their everyday life in Manhattan through the Florida Keys, complete with stalking news reporters, inquisitive FBI agents, and swirling social media fans. With her own brand of charm, mischief, and mayhem, Whitney helps Michael discover his path and teaches him that anything is possible-if you just believe.
"Where guardian angels go, trouble follows..." is typed along the top of the book How Will I Know written by Marc Renson. Well after reading this amazing book, I want my very own guardian angel because in this fun, emotional and uplifting story, trouble did not follow main character Michael Monroe, and if that was defined as "trouble", sign me up !!!
Michael Monroe is down on his luck and he is having a hard time not resenting his mother who is the owner of Double D's Diamonds and is financially secure whereas Michael doesn't have a job, his car needs major work down and he has less that five hundred dollars to his name. Unfortunately his mother felt that she had to use tough love on Michael when he was in college and they are still navigating their relationship ten years later.
But, boy oh boy, is that going to change when Michael is visited by the ghost of Whitney Houston who informs him that she is his guardian angel. Let me say that again ..... Whitney Houston is Michael's guardian angel !!!!
Well, if you knew Whitney Houston when she was alive, you know that she was a diva that commanded the stage and even in the afterlife that is what she continues to do. Whitney helps Michael find himself and guides him toward everything he has always wanted ... and then some !!
Renson takes readers on a magical, fun, excited, and spiritual journey with Michael, his best friend, Lucy, his mother and a few other lovable characters. This is a story that you will want to savor and read slow, if you possibly can. This will also be a story that you will want to read again and again. You will feel lots of emotions and love it !! I laughed out loud, almost cried, got angry, then happy .... and that was all in the first five chapters !!! I know you will enjoy this book and the journey Marc takes Michael on ... I guarantee it !!!
How Will I Know, by Marc Renson is a novel you won’t soon forget. Who among us would not want a guardian Angel to help us through life’s ups and downs? But what would you do if that guardian Angel is Whitney Houston? How will I Know, tells of a young man who feels he has been abandoned by his family during hard times. There were moments as I was reading that I felt like yelling at him to grow up. And the next moment I wanted to hold and hug him, telling him it will be okay. This novel has all the feelings you want in a novel. Many people have at one time or another including myself have felt they have seen or heard something from afar. A sign of sorts. Take this journey with the words of a real life Culinary Chef and owner of Ambition Restaurant in Schenectady, NY. Marc Renson . 5 stars for sure.
A great summer poolside read! Whitney Houston lovers will appreciate her guidance and humor. The story gives the warm and fuzzies.
I had the opportunity to meet the author and his husband at a book event while on vacation in Key West. Just pasted the book store and saw the event for the following night. I was looking for a fun read while having a cocktail or 2 by the pool. The book was perfect!
There are many reasons to like Marc Renson’s novel, How Will I Know, but here are two: Whitney Houston as a guardian angel and the Florida Keys. What begins as a sort-of-whiney-down-on-his-luck-poor-rich-boy story becomes an uplifting tale. Michael Monroe overcomes one obstacle after another with the help and encouragement from Whitney the guardian angel, a fortune teller, his mother, and a best friend. Sometimes it’s laugh-out-loud funny, sometimes it makes you catch your breath. It is definitely worth a read.
Michael is going through bad luck and feels nothing is going right. His friend Lucy seems to be his only friend who cares until another person magically shows up, claiming to be his Guardian angel—the ghost of Whitney Houston. I enjoy the humor in this story and the concept of a guardian angel helping the main character (Michael) get through rough and sometimes strange times. It is a well-written story that, in the end, will leave you to imagine for yourself: Who would be your guardian angel if you had a choice?
