The story continues in the second installment of J. L. Lyon's Shadow Saga, with 301-14-A desperate to unravel the secrets of his past. Sequel to Shadow Soldier. Followed by Shadow Heart and Shadow Empire. Final novel forthcoming.
After their victory over the Rebellion, the World System makes preparations for a return to the normal order of everyday life. But those hopes shatter when the System breaks in half, and the Ruling Council raises a new seat of government in war-torn Rome.
Amidst the chaos, Grace Sawyer rises to the helm of the Rebellion and continues their assault on the capital city. Under threat of a new worldwide war, Napoleon Alexander places the city under martial law and orders a brutal purge to root out the disloyal.
301's allegiances become increasingly blurred as his doubts about the World System reach their breaking point. In the treacherous world of kings and pawns, secrets and spies, he realizes that there is only one thing he knows that is true.
But before the end he will have to choose the World System or the Rebellion; love, or vengeance...

This second installment of the Shadow Saga was as impressive as the first, if not more so. The sequel starts right where the story left off in the first book so new readers to the series should expect to be lost without reading the Shadow Soldier. I was disappointed in the amount of editing issues which gave it an unpolished feel, but the content was quite good. If for nothing else, the story was worth reading for the last few chapters alone: the sudden plot twists and beautiful choreographed battles were well done and elicited an emotional response from me. It became a true page turner! If you are looking for a fresh story with good character development, action, love elements, and a deeper meaning than just pure entertainment then you will be hard pressed to make a better selection.
I thought this was the final book! I really liked the first book, Shadow Soldier, I was given a copy by the author. In fact I purchased "Shadow Fall" to get the rest of the story. This one was even better. Military, dystopian, romance, and some real faith in God. This is a Christian fiction written without being "preachy" and the only mention God or faith is just part of the characters who believe. I am now going to have to try and be patient for book number three. It feels like a long read, not sure how many pages it was, but it was worth it. I can recommend to ages 16 and up. There is no swearing, the only sexual content is implied and threatened (rape), there is violence and fighting, so I think not great for younger readers. Good story, good writing and I give Shadow Fall five stars.
Shadow Soldier and Shadow fall are both great books. A very refreshing look on the dystopia novels. The writer keeps you on the edge of the seat throughout both novels. I can't wait to read the next one.
