From New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Tyler, writing as SE Jakes.... Truth or dare. Ever since superspy Cillian moved into Prophet’s building, their game of Steal the Couch has been funny to Prophet, but a thorn in Tom’s side. Then Prophet gets bored one night during an ice storm and insists on playing another simple game with Truth or Dare. In exchange for one of Prophet’s truths, Tom steals the couch one last time. But Prophet’s truths are never easy—Tom should know that by now—and this one raises questions neither of them quite know how to answer. In response, Tom finds himself laying claim to Prophet in the most basic way he knows how. And also finds that he doesn’t mind it in the least when Prophet returns the favor. ***5 Stars***

A kindle-melting novella focusing on Tommy and Prophet and their insatiable need for each other.

They were quick to anger. Quicker to forgive.

What you'll get here:

* two dominant Alpha males
* a lovely game of truth or dare
* Cillian's scandalized couch
* strategically placed piercings, some may be new
* an endless supply of male testosterone
* all consuming, possessive and passionate sex

If you haven't met Tommy and Prophet yet, what are you waiting for? What are you doing with your life? It's time to start making better life choices!

This was a tasty treat for fans of Tommy & Prophet before the last swan song.

It was dirty, snarky, growly, sexy fun with a little something extra.

And my favorite is definitely:

Oh they fucked it! They rocked it! My boys! How I smile when I read anything they're part of. I savor them.

If you overlook the hot sex scenes, you see the tidbits about one of my favorite couples. Nothing read overdone or boring. Prophet and Tommy are a couple. Like for realz.

Suggested? Fuck. Yes. I'm going to be a mess when the next and last book is out.

But I will always have:

That couch has seen some things...

Deal with shit, one at a time, as it comes up.

"Did we fuck the sheets off the bed?
How is that possible?"
From the first few paragraphs I read, I automatically thought...THEIR BACK, my babes, the dynamic duo! The stubborn, unique and humorous couple that never get old. In this short read, we get a taste of the well loved Prophet and Tommy, in their funniest moments yet. From truth or dare games, to smexy- sheets on fire scenes... or a couch...which ever you prefer. Prophet and Tommy surrender it all and keep you craving for more!!
The couch was in front of him, Tom behind him...
and the rest was a tenuous balance.
description

During this read, the author helps refresh your mind on the previous books in the series and those connected to it, by adding small snippets of characters mentioned or scenes their involved in. We experience the level of understanding the two share for each other, and the committed relationship they now share. Trust is shown throughout the book, shared between the two, when Tommy is willing to be vulnerable and bare himself before his partner. You see Prophet using this trust to give Tommy the stability he needs and accepts his surrender. It was extremely sexy to read the intimate and playful moments between the two. Discovering their limits and how they fulfil each other's needs. I felt the growing bond between the two and could see how much more deeper it would lead to.
It's not about the pain as much as it's about
finally finding someone who can hold you down,
hold you back...keep you in place
when you lose it.

No matter what,
no matter how pissed they got, how much they
fucked up... Prophet was his.
Mates, I loved every moment of this awesome read and would definitely recommend the previous reads...and any future books released for this series xx

I still love when Proph calls him "T" and when Tommy calls him "Lije".
Still adore their knowledge of each other. Still sigh at their gentleness.
Still snort at the humor.

Still love them. :D

Original review:

So, page three, and we get classic Prophet. Classic in that he calls people on their bullshit, even when it’s accidental, unintentional bullshit. His demand for honesty from those he trusts the most (and there are a scant few) is rather sky-worthy, especially from Tommy. On the flipside, he likes to playfully push Tommy’s buttons by being guffawingly obtuse. It makes me smile. As does the fact that he made me make up that new word back there.

Meanwhile, these two. Holy fucking hotness, all the superheroes. The variety, the tasting, the touching and the commanding. Surrender. Tender. TommyLovesProphLoves.

Here I am, grinning like an idiot because these two are very comfortable with each other. And most importantly, instead of dampening any enjoyable tension between them, this only serves to heighten the heat and fun and intensity. The greatest thing is that, even when they really want to, neither of them tends to run away from each other anymore. They… well, they may not run, maybe just shuffle or amble while they think about what the hell to do to resolve the issue, but they always go towards each other, not away.

”… he’d learned too much about wasted time…” to spend it needlessly away from Proph. That’s Tom. And I like the way he shows Prophet this very thing.

My postulation: see, here’s the difference when it comes to these two. They aren’t so fucked up that they need to heal each other. No. They each allow the other’s already healthy parts to shine through, to be recognized, utilized and prized. That’s what they do for each other.

Also, fucking motherfucking fucker.

Theirs is a quietly frenetic dance, the way Tommy ‘n Proph are constantly trading roles inside their relationship. Each of them is what the other needs. This is a delectable short respite from the larger story that surrounds these two, and all of the guys, in the continued hunt for that guy who I won’t even name because I don’t want to sully this yumminess. There.

Here's a little ditty that I cooked up in about five minutes with some sharpies and construction paper. Behold:

Also, it's become quite clear that I have lost all objectivity when it comes to these two. The only literary couple to break that barrier. I love.

4 Big Prophet & Tommy Stars!!!!

Read this, read it again and then read it all over. It's volcano hot and even a bit tornado twisted, but there's some tender, sweet, trust going on.
"I just need you, Lije."

The bittersweet is in knowing that there is only one Tommy & Prophet book left and well, that's just to sad to think about. So yeah, I'm just gonna read this again, right now.

I would like to thank SE Jakes and Riptide Publishing for providing me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

3 1/2 Stars - A brief glimpse in the Proph & Tom life.
A steaming hot life...

Book #3.5

***********************************************************

A shortie from Prophet Drews and Tommy Bourdreau's love and life in the Hell or High Water series. (Reviews:)

'Truth or Dare'
In exchange for one of Prophet’s truths, Tom steals the couch one last time. But Prophet’s truths are never easy...or Tom's...

***********************************************************

As always, fun, smexy (with some nice tender kink) and these boys are —of course!!!— gorgeous together once again. Not Fade Away, a short "in between" novella, was as good as expected. Simply a must read for the fan-club.

BUT!! - I must say that I actually becomes slightly grumpy and disappointed when a story, which already is too short, ends already at 85%. False premises, shame! I thought that I had a brief moment of memorable reading left. ..Sigh!!

I think I was pretty much in the minority when it came to my disappointment in Daylight Again. Because let's face it: the plotting in this series is confusing as hell, and the one element driving my interest in this series is Tom and Prophet. Everything, and everybody, else either adds to it, or distracts from it.

And book three was a lot of distraction.

But Not Fade Away took it all away. Sure, there was mention of the mystery and even of one of the other characters in the series. But overall, this short story brought the series back to what made me enjoy it in the first place: the dynamic between Tom and Prophet. Sure, most of it was just sex. But despite their already committed relationship, the author still manages to intertwine these two ever closer together – blurring the lines where Tom and Prophet meet, yet still creating two distinct characters.

There have been many proclamations made between these two characters – of love and trust and all that. But I really hope the next book in the series will bring that into action. While Not Fade Away was a great escape from the main story, it has also made me nervous – I feel like the series can either follow a spiraling path into the abyss (filled with over dramatics and more unbelievable scenarios) or become something more...special.

Fingers crossed that it's the later. But in the mean time, I really did enjoy this addition to the series.

Wow. Prophet and Tommy. This short novella sees Prophet and Tommy playing a game of truth or dare that takes their already hot hot hot relationship further. Prophet and Tommy take my breath away.

Oh my. How delicious was that? A little snippet of Tommy and Prophet and its left me desperate for October when 'If I Ever' will be released. Loved just getting to see them both without shed loads of drama, not that I mind the drama you understand. Hurricanes are drama and that was mind blowing. But it is nice getting to see them as day to day Tommy and Prophet and it's fabulously kinky and even very heartwarming!

What's hotter than Tommy and Proph having angry/alligator/hurricane sex? Tommy and Proph having kinky sex, that's what. Holy smokes, I love when these guys turn the tables on each other.

What a hot little tidbit this is. So great to see these guys again, even if only for just a taste. These guys just totally do it for me, and I will take whatever I can get.

Nothing much advancing the story here, other than to show that the guys are living together and pretty much on the same page. Bring on the next installment, STAT!

SE Jakes takes the best of what the Hell or Highwater series has to offer and gives it to readers in one undiluted dose in this little slice-of-life novella. This is set after the events of book three, but it doesn’t get into any of the complicated series arc or backstory, and it doesn’t feature the enormous cast of characters. Just Tom and Prophet, loving, fighting, fu—well, you get the idea.

The story begins with the couple reminiscing about a sex-tacular game of truth or dare they played after the events of book two. But as usual, Tommy is looking for new nuggets about the hidden truths of Prophet’s life. In particular, he wants to know the favors Prophet does for Mal. If you’ve read Mal’s book, you know all about his penchant for BDSM clubs. Apparently, Prophet takes him there sometimes. It’s not sexual for Prophet—he just wants to make sure his friend doesn’t go too far down the rabbit hole.

From there, Tom gets it into his head to visit on of those clubs himself, and you can guess out that plays out with these two.

There’s a lot of sex in these four chapters. But there is also a continued deepening of trust, understanding, and acceptance between these two. I think fans of the series would enjoy it, especially knowing that they can jump into book four, now that it’s available for a deeper dive.

OMG!
THIS WAS INTENSE.

Not Fade Away is in my opinion a filler piece that has meaning. It wasn't necessary that Jakes write it but it did give insight.

This book is a P.W.P (porn without plot) type of novella. Jakes doesn't give a damn thing away that we didn't already know but she layered her main characters more. That in it's self is book worthy because Prophet and Tommy are these larger than life characters who aren't one or even three dimensional. There is so much to them, so much we aren't privy too and it is fun and nice to learn more without worrying about a plot or a plot twist.

When I started the novella I didn't know what she was going to write. That added a layer of anticipation to it and I ate it up. I wasn't even thinking plot, after a while. This book is a look into Prophet and Tommy's relationship nothing more, nothing less. It's a HUGE look into their intense, two way relationship. I love the way it was written and love the break in plot.

There is no plot. Here let me say it again. THERE IS NO PLOT. Just read it and enjoy the ever evolving relationship that is Prophet and Tommy.

***Re-read before If I Ever comes out later this month.***

OMG...this was so sweet!! 4.25 stars. A little vignette into the lives of Prophet and Tommy, just confirming how much they do love each other...even though they may not have actually said the words yet in print. My Puddle of Goo-ometer ® was off the charts with 'I just need you. Lije....' and 'Everyone meets their match eventually' and 'That's what I am - your match?' Prophet smiled. 'You don't know that?' and Tom said 'I like to hear you say it. That's all I need.' Sooo romantic, sighs.

No duct tape was used (or harmed) in the making of this vignette...at least I don't think it was.....

Good lawd there's some smoking hot sex in this one. It's pretty much a 'fill-in' with Prophet and Tommy taking advantage of a bit of down time to get frisky.

There's a brief bit of plot development for the main storyline, but it's essentially just a break from the intensity.

Synopsis:

Truth or dare.

Ever since superspy Cillian moved into Prophet’s building, their game of Steal the Couch has been funny to Prophet, but a thorn in Tom’s side. Then Prophet gets bored one night during an ice storm and insists on playing another simple game with Tom: Truth or Dare. In exchange for one of Prophet’s truths, Tom steals the couch one last time.

In response, Tom finds himself laying claim to Prophet in the most basic way he knows how. And also finds that he doesn’t mind it in the least when Prophet returns the favor.

My Thoughts:

I do so love this series. I know people have their issues with it, but I'd choose Tommy and Prophet over just about all other M/M couples. I love these two that much, it's true.

This novella is straight couple affirmation for these two. They've completely claimed one another now.

It was hot as hell and sweet, too. I can't wait for the last book in the series, at the same time, the thought of it ending makes me want to cry.

**********HOT HOT HOT 4.5 SMOKIN HOT STARS**********

I knew going in that this was gonna be a really short read so no surprise there, and its SE Jakes so of course its gonna be hot.
But for those of us who are fully engulfed in the SE Jakes Universe of,
*Hell or High Water series
*Men of Honor series
*Dirty Deeds series
this was a nice little peek into Tommy and Prophets downtime, or should I say UP time hehehe...the game of truth or dare gave us some firery hot sex, a few sweet and intimate moments, and filled us in on things we were all curious about from previous books, I thought it was done perfectly.

Thank You Miss Jakes for letting me be a fly on the wall during Tommy and Prophets fun. I felt a little voyeuristic peeking into their private time outside of the main books of Hell & High Water :)

Holy Crap! This is seriously hot. And sweet. I need more...

I love how they seamlessly move back and forth together between dominant and submissive. They are so in sync with each other that it doesn't really matter which role is which anymore, they just automatically become what the other needs.
