Great short read for those who need a boost of motivation. It’s an accumulation of ideas that many of us heard time and time again but representing them in a way that can get your mind thinking and giving you tangible tasks to help yourself achieve goals and see improvement. From goal setting, to visualization and positive self talk, definitely won’t take more than a day to read (although it took me several due to procrastination). One thing I am going to try is the 6 wins. Setting six small goals for myself throughout my day to be consistent and productive. I think the main theme is to be consistent!!
This book gives you the building blocks to change how you view life and productivity. If you are a master procrastinator like me this will be a great read. But you will have to follow it with actually action.
If you need to learn new ways to be more organized, have better time management, motivation, and better goal setting/planning, this book is perfect for you. The book offers great tips that will help greatly with your productivity. I, for example, have taken some of these tips and put them into practice, or at least learned from them, and they did not disappoint. It is an eye-opening view of how there is different ways to do things not just one standard way, and that there is a way to get focused and just do whatever you need to do. A piece of wisdom and statistics: “Text messages, email alerts, and social media sites are some of the biggest distractions that people face. Did you know that when a person is distracted from their work, it takes on average 20 minutes for them to regain focus and get back to what they were previously doing? 20 minutes of lost times adds up very quickly. If you want to get more done, your work environment needs to be free of the beeps and buzzes of modern technology.” - Pgs. 38-39
There’s nothing overly original in here, but the fundamentals and basics are sound. If you read this book and follow the suggestions, you’ll end up ahead of where you are at today. Worth the quick read.
This is really a good books. It teaches what it claims. You can learn simple yet easy steps for setting goals and proceed to achieve them. A good read, indeed.
"Get More Done in Less Time: How to Be More Productive and Stop Procrastinating" by Beau Norton is an excellent short guide how to motivate yourself to adhere to better time keeping and to implement phsyical and psychological changes to achieve your goals. The author has a clear writing style, an organised structure to his writing and obvious experience in the field. The principles are sound and cannot be argued with. If you are seriously looking to improve your efficiency this book will provide a lot of food for thought for you. A condensed and efficient guide that combines practical and simple techniques with more sophisticated and 'new age' principles.
True - there's nothing here you can't find in other books or self improvement programs. But Beau presents the truths plainly and understandably. Good enough to keep around.
