Teach Your Child the Alphabet Using Words from The Big Apple

The largest city in the United States, New York City, is the perfect place to teach your child the letters of the alphabet. Author Adina Oberman has worked with illustrator Volha Kaliaha to create a creative book, N IS FOR NYC.

For example, “E IS FOR EMPIRE STATE BUILDING”

Or “R IS FOR ROCKEFELLER CENTER.”

What a fun reading experience whether you live in New York City or not. I loved this book and recommend it.

Loved it! A is for the Apollo Theater to F for FDNY to M for Museums to Z for Zabar's groceries and all
in between. Each letter is complete with simple illustrations in this fun alphabet book.
The illustrations by Volha Kaliaha are clear, colorful, and fun!
Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Familius via NetGalley. Thank you!

I absolutely love childrens books that can be used my local children to leaarn. We all learn through things we are familiar with, so this is a very good way for local children to learn. It can also be a useful tool for teaching inclusivity, and loving all kinds of people, as the book features illustrations of both emergency services and other monuments of cutural significance for the city.

I also love the illustrations in the book. The style and characteristics of the art is adorable. I think my favorite has to be the illustration featuring the New York Yankees. I think the art style gives such a cute and colourful representation of New York City.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Familius Books for giving me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Cute and definitely super unique book! Kids that live in New York will definitely love this, because this book would be so personal to them. However, I know that kids that live in other places will also appreciate and learn from this book because of all the great terms in here. And maybe these kids that live in other places are interested in New York or will travel there someday. Either way, the illustrations and words in this book were so diverse and carefully chosen. Great job on making a fresh ABC book!

Even though I've never been to NYC, I found myself nodding in approval at each letter choice. They're largely easily identifiable with the city and the illustrations used matched them perfectly. I don't want to give away the choices, albeit the cover gives some big hints. Oh, okay, we've all heard of the Yankees, so there's the "Y". The "Z" was a pretty cool choice, too, and so NYC. I liked the diversity, variation, and use of color. Little reading aside from the matching word(s) for each letter, so an easy, fun one to skim through, then go back through time and time again. If you're planning a trip to NYC, this would be a great preview, I'd say. Fun filled and captures the city nicely. Thanks #NetGalley and #Familius for this early peek at the city that truly seems never to sleep.

Very cute alphabet book featuring sights in New York City. This is simple to read and the illustrations are easy to recognize. This would be a great book if you have a small child in NYC or if you are planning to visit the Big Apple. Most are sites or parts of the city that I’ve seen while being a tourist there. A couple, I didn’t think fit like, D is for Derek Jeter. He is retired, not available to be seen and it will date the book. Otherwise this is a fun read. It is a board book and so is sturdy for preschoolers and younger. Thank you to NetGalley and Familus for the ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

N is for New York City is a great alphabet book for the youngsters! I loved all of the choices that were featured for each letter. It was lovely to see the diversity of the city reflected in this book!

The illustrations are very cute & NYC was definitely well-represented. I could see this as a great souvenir for kiddos who visit!

Thanks to NetGalley, Adina Oberman, and Familius for the chance to read and review!

N is for NYC really shows the heart of New York City. The scene for each letter of the alphabet is well chosen. I think little ones around the world will love learning more about this thriving place, especially if they haven’t been there yet, as they’ll certainly hear about it someday. The illustrations are very up-to-date and inclusive. I even learned a thing or two new about NYC. This would be a great gift to pair with Let’s Count NYC (a numbers book by the same author).
