I really struggled trying to rate this. I really really REALLY enjoyed it, but also had quite a few problems with it. The problems didn't really take away from the rest of the book, but they were also hard to ignore somehow? I don't know, but I had a lot of fun reading and would reread.
I love how smitten Cole was, truly unashamed of how much he loves Summer and it was really sweet to see. Summer came across as a bit of a 'pick me' girl at the start but got better and grew into more of her own person, something I really appreciated. I think the only issue I had that may have depleted my experience of reading it a little was that Summer was so determined to misunderstand him. She was so set on him being a bad boy and that he would break her heart and leave that she just ignored everything else a lot. The first time they kiss he literally goes "we're dating" and won't go further until she agrees they're dating (it's written endearingly not like he's coercing her or anything) and then she spends like the rest of the book going "oh well I don't really know what we are, surely this is just a fling but oh no I'm falling in love and he totally doesn't want to be with me!" Summer, he told you that you were dating, he drives you to and picks you up from work, he took you for a dinner with his friends, he took you to his job, he took you home to meet his family, he takes in the homeless kid you're trying to help. I think he might see you as more than a fling?
But again, even despite that, I really really enjoyed it! Not the greatest piece of literature ever written, it does have issues, but I would totally reread.
