Rate this book
When Zeus invites Therese and Thanatos to a party on Mount Olympus in their honor, they and the other gods who have formed the Athena Alliance are immediately suspicious of a trap. They fear Zeus has learned of their desire to free Metis and Cybele and to stand up for all the women he has wronged. Although Therese recruits Dione, Amphitrite, and others to the Alliance, Pete has unwittingly sabotaged their plans by revealing to Zeus the prophecy from the ghost of Mr. Holt. And now, the day that might have been the most wonderful day of Therese’s life (her wedding day) will be wrought with conflict where someone close to her is fated to die. Can Therese and the other gods in the Alliance bind the almighty Zeus and restore justice and true democracy among the Olympians? Or will Zeus succeed in swallowing Therese and separating her from Thanatos for all eternity?

Pohler’s done it again & these books just keep getting better and better. She works her magic with the same smooth, approachable writing style that we’ve come to know and love to create a work of creative brilliance. There is an air of mystery and suspense that winds its way through this tale. Pohler combines intense emotional scenes with action packed sequences to always keep you on your toes. This novel is also emotionally intense as the characters are faces with some very difficult and life altering choices.

I absolutely love how you get to know the gods in their down time in this one. It gives you extra insight into them as people. They’re real & fun, rather than simply untouchable deities. The way that the characters’ emotions really play out through their actions factor into this as well, allowing you to relate to them and understand them on a deeper level. I was completely wrapped up in this tale and the characters that filled it. The reader also becomes much better acquainted to some of the gods who’d played minor roles in other novels. I also appreciate how when Pohler introduces new gods into the series or brings minor characters back she ensures that she includes what they’re the god of rather than assuming that everyone knows. She reveals a great deal about the characters with a few simple words.

Although this is a brilliant read in and of itself I’d definitely suggest reading the previous novels in the series to get the full impact of this one. It’s a brilliant addition to the series adding some creative twists to the plot. Pohler’s saga keeps getting more and more action packed the further into the series you get. I couldn’t put this one down for a second.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

I'm one of those lucky people that got to read The Gatekeeper's Secret by winning it at Eva's Party with the Olympians, Take Two on Facebook yesterday! I finished it a couple of hours ago and it's taken me that long to come up with the words for this book! Every book in this series has gotten better and better (if it's even possible) and The Gatekeeper's Secret is no exception. In fact, it's the best one yet!

Eva's writing style is so amazing and easy that she draws you in from the first page. She hits the ground running with action until the very end where it's almost impossible to put down for any reason! (Every book has kept me up late because I simply couldn't put it down to even sleep.) It's a great read for any age from Young Adult to Adult!

Her characters are very believable, along with the history of the Gods in the series. I love how she portrays mythology! The adventure begins when her main character Therese falls in love with Thanatos, the God of Death, after watching her parents die in a car wreck. It never slows down after that because the Gods are never quite that easy to deal with! They are however, very hot in this series!

In The Gatekeeper's Secret, we get to learn more about these God's histories and personalities along with the non-stop adventure. The great thing is, Eva has a new spin without moving away from what I learned in school about mythology. Even the God's personalities and attitudes, in her writing style, were never far off from how I imagined the Gods would act!

I can't say enough about this book or the series! I know that it's going to near impossible for me to be patient for the next book! While this book could stand alone, don't cheat yourself, read the whole series in order! Whether you are into mythology or not, you won't be disappointed! I will say again, this is the best one yet!!!

I received this book from the author in exchange for a honest review. Let me say I have read the entire gatekeeper's saga, and I have to say that this one was by far my favorite. I'm sure if you have read my other reviews I have said that about each and everyone. But i am assuming that it is because Eva has become more in tune with her characters as the story has progressed. (I'm not saying she wasn't in the other ones, I'm saying that these books become more apart of you. In my opinion.) I know they have for me so I can only imagine from a writers stand point. Eva captures her character's flawlessly bringing each and every one alive, making you want to know more about them. That is why I am VERY sad that the next book is the last in the series. But I know if anyone can pull off getting all the differnt characters their perfect ending (or not so perfect) it is Eva.
Now on to the story let me say Than and Theresa have always had their hardship. This story is no different. They always seem to be in a losing battle. There is love, drama, action, you name this story has it. Zeus, well he just gets on my nerves, lol. That's all I have to say about that. Loyalty will be tested in this story. Everyone's true nature will be shown. Thank you Eva for an AMAZING RIDE!! Can't wait for BOOK 6!!!

So I had mixed feelings on this book. I think it has more to do with me and reading long series than anything else. However, I found myself very overwhelmed with how many characters there are. I think I need a family free to be able to follow who is who and who is related to who. However, I was thrown for a loop towards the end when they stated therese was pregnant with twins. I'm usually good at seeing where a story will go which doesn't bother me at all. But, I think I didn't know she would be pregnant as I didn't even know they had sex. I must have missed it or wasn't paying attention or pick up on something within the book. But, I did say I was looking forward to see what was going to happen with the wedding and babies and I didn't expect it to happen in one book. I'm not very happy that there is this rule where gods can't be immortal any longer or what have you as that means their babies will grow old and die before the parents, which reminds me of the TV show forever. But that's beside the point. I'm sure there will be a other twist in this last book and I hope it will have a happy ending. I'm just so happy that I received this first book as a free read to try. I really learned a lot about Greek mythology which is something I have always wanted to do. Hopefully I can learn more as time goes on.

Oh My Gods & Goddesses!! Wow!!
The Gatekeeper's Secret by Eva Pohler is the 5th book in the Gatekeeper's Saga and an amazing continuation of the series.
In this book, the wedding between Than and Therese finally happens....but there is a lot of drama and conflict around the event.
This series is so interesting and unique. I love how Ms. Pohler brings the Greek gods and goddesses into the modern world so seamlessly.
This is a must-read book in a must-read series!! I cannot wait for the next book!

The latest book in the Gatekeeper's Saga is another smashing success! Therese and Than are engaged to be married. Zeus invites the couple to Mount Olympus for a party in their honor. They don't want to go, but ultimately have no choice. Is this party a trap? Has Zeus learned of the Athena Alliance and their plan to bind Zeus and free Metis and Cybele? There's only one way to find out. Before the wedding, they learned that Pete has unknowingly revealed a prophecy to Zeus that can not only sabotage the plans of the Athena Alliance, but also destroy what should be Therese's best day of her life, her wedding day. Can the alliance still find a way to pull everything off, or will Zeus destroy everything and keep Therese and Than apart for eternity? You have got to grab a copy of this book to find out.

I just love this take on modern day Greek mythology. The gods still meddling in each others lives for their own gain. This book is full of an action packed adventure. There's no down time or drawn out parts like some books tend to have. It grabs your attention and doesn't let go until the end. This book itself, does not have a cliffhanger ending, but it will leave you longing for more. I also want to comment on the teaser in the back for the 6th and final book in the Gatekeeper's Saga. Like that last cookie on the plate screaming for you to consume it, you really can't help but read it. That is where you will find the edge of the rocky cliff, leaving you waiting in anticipation for the final book. But really, do we WANT that 6th and final book? Of course we do, but it'll be a shame to see the end of this fabulous series. I will be anxiously waiting for The Gatekeeper's Promise.

The Gatekeeper's Secret is the 5th book in this phenomenal series! Eva Pohler is a fantastic author with the ability to create characters that are so real and lifelike. In this book Pete tries desperately to reach Therese through prayer to warn her about what he saw in a vision. When she doesn't answer him he prays to Zeus telling him what he saw and that starts a plan that will leave one person dead and Therese in Zeus's belly. Zeus invites the couple to a party on Mount Olympus and the Underworld Gods scramble to bring together an Alliance to bring down Zeus and free Métis and Cybele. Also Hip realizes that he's in love with Jen and he doesn't know how they can ever be together as God and Human. There are twists and turns and many surprises in this book that will not only surprise you but also make you a believer in the Gods. I absolutely loved this book, this series and will forever be a fan of Eva Pohler! Amazing!!!

A Real Nail Biter!!!

By now if you've been reading the series, you know and love most of the characters, and the way family and friends are pitted against each other is intense to say the least. There were many fulfilling moments where the Gods made noble, and honorable decisions, and there were disappointing moments as well. One important theme in this book that was touched on in the other books as well, is making sacrifices for the ones you love. The entire book was action packed, with many twists and turns. Eva has done it again, you'd be crazy to miss this one! I can't wait for book 6!!!

I really enjoyed this story. I found it to be somewhat different than the other stories I've listened to in the series. Eva has written another brilliant story. It was filled with twist and turns throughout the entire story. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story and I'm looking forward to listening to the next story, Gatekeepers Promise, which I think is the last one to this great saga. I highly recommend you give this series a chance. I've come to love books about mythology because of Eva Pohler.

I don't know how she does it but Eva has made each book better and better. She has such a talent for creating characters and building them on such a solid story line that I find it impossible to not just let my mind fall into and picture the story as if I were in it. Her depth and detail in creating a world where you can fall in love and still have to face battles both physically and morally are awe inspiring. I truly love everything about her books there's nothing I would change. (Except that the never would end.) :)

By far the best yet

As the second to last installment of the Gatekeeper's Saga unfolds, so do the lives of the gods. When you have the King of all the Gods against you hope looks rather bleak. Especially when the selfish Gods are too afraid to stand with you against him.

Than and Therese are preparing for their wedding. And, because of a prophecy unearthed by Pete, so is Zeus. Who can you trust to side with an oath breaker? Who can you trust to help overthrow The Lord of the heavens? And what happens when everything goes wrong? Or better yet, according to plan?

As other reviewers have mentioned, this series just keeps getting better. Everyone is keeping secrets and nobody knows who can be trusted. Things get really interesting as the gods are pitted against one another in the quest for justice and equality. Eva Pohler really grabs your attention and sucks you in. After reading the first three books I got the set and couldn't stop reading until the end of book six!

This is the fifth book of the series and once again Eva didn't disappoint. Therese and Than are planning to get married and Pete is desperately trying to tell her something. When she doesn't answer him, he goes to the one who he feels could help Zeus (we all know this is not good). This then sets off another series of events that test Therese and her desire to make everything right.

Eva once again writes a great book and I am looking forward to book 6!!

Oh Eva Pohler you did not disappoint me, not one bit. It is so hard to find a book series that has more than three books, has a great plot, a great writing flow, great complex characters, and an over all enjoyable book that you can't set down for the life you. Well people look no more, cause I found that book. I would highly highly recommend this series to every one who can get there hands on it. I can't wait to read the last book in the series.
