While before, he was content to terrorize me to get what he wanted, now his ambitions have widened. He's got the whole town in his sights, and he doesn't care who he has to hurt to get what he wants.
But that's OK.
I've let him ride roughshod over me for way too long, and now? Me and my mates are going to push back, and he doesn't know what's coming for him.
No cliffhangers. This is the end of Natalie's story
This whole book, I was waiting for Nat to actually file for divorce. But it never happens. By the end, I was confused... did she ever divorce Paul? What happened to their house and property? In the end, someone tells her Paul is broke, and I'm thinking, "And... so is Nat... because she's still married to him."
I didn't like how everyone in Nat's family turns into raving lunatics. Is there something in the water?
Because Nat's in laws were cold to her, but now her mother in law is attacking her constantly. And she said her marriage with Paul died, but nowhere were we told that Paul was a violent criminal. He went from being distant and inconsiderate in their marriage to rolling around town beating up old ladies, firing off his gun, threatening to murder people, committing arson and vandalism all in about a week. In the first book, Nat described her parents as being distant, but she looked up to her dad. But in this book, they're horrible people who seem to hate Nat. Britney and Paul managed to keep their relationship under wraps for months, but now Britney is running around town ranting and raving.
This conclusion felt really odd. I was expecting Nat's marital situation to be resolved, which never happened, and by the end I was just left wondering whether or not they were going to discover psychotropic drugs were poisoning the water supply in this small town.
Somewhere along the way I found myself losing interest. The thing with having an almost-established relationship, everything after seems to be sex riddled. And with the amount of romances I devour, I find myself skipping those. It did manage to keep my interest because of the external conflict but outside of that... meh. This is partly a me problem too I guess, this book maybe wasnt what I needed to scratch right now's itch
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚💜💙❤️ Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: 😒🥺🙂🥰 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Natalie - she left her cheating and emotionally abusive husband after he told her he wanted an open marriage. She was happy with her choice, though it was taking time to get over, especially after looking back and seeing how controlling and cruel her husband had been. She is trying to get her life on track and dating the four hot construction workers that she is working with on the restoration of the clock tower at the old town hall. They were good for her and treating her great, but she lives in a small Australian town and not everyone agrees.
The Heroes:Alaric, Coda, Thorne, Lars - they are bear shifters and had known from the time they came to town that Natalie was the one woman for them. When they found out she was married, they were determined to leave her be if she was happy, but when she left her husband and they saw how he treated her, they stepped up and helped her out. Showing her exactly how a woman should be treated by the man or men who love her.
The Story: After Paul threatened Natalie, stole her money and tried to get her to sign away their house to him, he shot Coda. Natalie wanted nothing more than for her and her men to take him down. They had to be careful though. They tell Natalie about why their ancestors first came to Australia. It was because there were so many big game hunters in America and people that specifically hunt bear shifters. They also told her about how certain family lines are genetically predisposed to be their mates. Natalie happens to be from one of those family lines. That was how they found her and knew she was the one for them.
This book was quite different from the first book, more about Natalie starting her new life with her guys while still dealing with the cruel antics of her ex. The first book was more about her getting away from her ex. Paul was involved with a devious scheme against not just Natalie, but the entire town. This book was also a lot steamier than the first. It had many more intimate scenes between Natalie and each of her guys. I kind of liked the first book more since it had more story, and less steam, though still plenty. This one had a bit too much steam and not as much story. Though I do plan to get the rest of the books in this series, because they are longer books and I tend to like bear shifter stories.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Sofia Lette and Dorje Swallow. Sofia Lette has a very pretty voice with a great Australian accent. Dorje Swallow also has an Australian accent and was able to do multiple characters very well. He has a deep, gravelly voice and both of these narrators were expressive and natural sounding.
Sam Hall's Ursa Shifters duology wraps up with Bears With Me and it was freaking awesome. Sam did a fantastic job with her first-ever bear shifters series and now I'm hooked.
Go Natalie! Nat is finally starting to understand that she's not responsible for other people and their well-being. Nat is so used to pleasing other people and making sure things go well for them that she put herself last and she's finally putting herself first letting go of things that aren't her responsibility and has decided to take something from herself, her mates.
The guys have been sweet since the beginning but now they stepping up the romance and helping Nat let go. The bonds between her and the guys grow and they get even more protective than they already were. After the incident with Koda his and Nat's relationship is airtight. Things are good with Thorn and we saw a different side of him, we get moments of heart-aching seriousness from Thorn but he never loses his playfulness. As for Lars, I said he had Bug Daddy Energy and wow does that come out in this one plus another caring side comes out as well. Alaric is the one who had my heart aching the most. He's the leader/protector of their sleuth and we get to see the pressure in this book, and how much he takes on. After Natalie finally accepts them things are fire and she gets the support she needs.
This book was different and I enjoyed it. Paul has really stepped up his terror to beyond Nat and I still can't fathom how Nat was ever married to the A-hole. His evil plans are revealed and I can't believe the reason, it's certainly different from what I've read while the people tied to it isn't surprising. With all the trouble the guys bring in backup and we get to meet their parents. The dads are all laid-back while the moms are sass and hilarious. I loved it. The parents also bring with them the history of bear shifters and the guys reveal interesting tidbits about bears and their mates.
Gods, Bears with Me was a stunning conclusion to Nat's story. It was filled with triumph, love, and family. The bad guys got their due and Nat gets a new life, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Sam said there's always a possibility for more bear shifters in the future. I'm crossing my fingers, this is my first bear shifter series and I think I can honestly say once you go bear you don't go back.
Although I thought the relationship development was a little delayed in the first book with the men only revealing that they were shifters in the last few chapters and barely any smut for a shifter romance, I enjoyed the book overall with an atypical FMC and super supportive men courting her. In this one, I had issues with the relationship development pacing due to the opposite problem of an overabundance of smut to the detriment of the story pacing. It was repetitive to me to read kinky "must worship Natalie" scenes with all the different men chapter after chapter. The clock tower and husband drama made up a minority of the book with lots of hand-waving gloss over of details. When Natalie ended up taking leave, who coordinated the reconstruction with the mayor? Dream walking was a rare interesting ability that was introduced in the first book, but it never came up again in this one. The telepathy between the sleuth and mates were also underutilized IMO.
As for the men themselves, I thought most of them were okay, and I mostly liked them for their fluffy cuddly support other than Thorn. Thorn was just an immature horny mess throughout the whole duet for me. I also thought Alaric was lame AF when he .
The villains in the duet turned out to rather cartoon caricatures to me and didn't have much depth. Real estate drama was pretty unique as a plot device, but in the end, I didn't feel like I really cared about the issue. I was also surprised that Natalie didn't take more action to actually divorce herself from Paul at all from what I remembered. At no point did she do any research into getting a lawyer or anything - she just walked away from Paul when he tried to get her to sign a bad agreement. In fact, I really found the whole Paul resolution rather underwhelming. Nobody seemed to try to look for him very hard with his propensity for violence with guns with his mates and his bail revoked. Did the police not find him to be a threat to society for a more thorough manhunt for him? However, I'm not quite sure about the details of the Australian justice system compared to the US, so maybe that's the norm there.
I did super enjoy Holly as the over-the-top hilarious BFF, and I hope she gets her own story. It's an interesting world (with interesting shifter anatomy), and I would read more stories in the universe.
I was honored to receive an ARC for Bears With Me, book two in the Ursa Shifters series, which concludes the story of Natalie and her bears from the first book. This book picks up after the slight cliffhanger in book one.
I have said it time and again, but no one writes shifter romances quite like Sam Hall. I adore every book she publishes, and this one was no exception. Natalie is a great FMC, who is strong and resilient on her own, is smart and caring, and has been living as a shadow of herself for far too long. It would be easy to pin her transformation entirely on meeting her fated bear mates, but Hall made it abundantly obvious that if Natalie is a blossoming flower, her men are simply fertilizer. She doesn’t need them to grow, but they offer her the right support to find her way through.
I really like the concept of this book for three reasons. One, you don’t see many bear shifter books and I think Hall did it well, and even added extras I wasn’t expecting *cough cough* the male anatomy. Two, the main character is 30, which is such a breath of fresh air. It gets tiresome reading about 19 year olds. Third, I don’t think I’ve read a fated mates book where the FMC is in a marriage when she meets her mate(s). If you’re worried about cheating, rest assured that while the ex-husband is a monstrous man, any relationship between Nat and her mates happens post-separation.
Lastly, the spice in this book was scorching. Sam Hall always delivers, but with the addition of an anatomical specificity, this book set my kindle, and other things, on fire.
All in all, another great romance by Sam Hall. I cannot recommend her books enough. There may be trigger warnings for some readers, such as an abusive relationship, with some on the page violence (nothing graphic), mention and use of guns on the page, and lots of graphic sex scenes.
Sam Hall delivers a perfect conclusion to Nat and her sleuth’s story in this second half of the Ursa Shifter duet. This is the feel-good kind of romance that still requires some emotional pain but has the type of males that make you swoon with their caring and committed natures. These bear shifters are the book boyfriends you want to add to your ever-growing list of perfect mates.
I didn’t think I could fall in love with the sleuth any more than I already had in the first book, but the way they treated Nat, the way they made her feel wanted, loved, and desired, and how they protected her while also giving her control of her destiny, made me only love them more. I loved how each male filled a hole in her heart, an emotional and physical connection she had been lacking from her horrible relationship with her ex. They healed her in ways she would never have accomplished by herself.
The steam is scalding in this second book. Lots of naughty talk, multiple delicious scenes (which Sam excels at delivering), and the bear shifters' unique equipment offer incredible pleasure. There is also a blistering hot heat sequence. All interactions are MF or MFM+.
The HEA was so satisfying. I wanted to cheer when her ex got his dues and when those who supported him blindly received theirs too. It was one of those experiences that left me with a giant smile. Not only did Nat have the love of her mates, but she had the retribution she deserved.
I would love for more bear shifter stories from Sam Hall. The way they absolutely adore their human mates is a sweet counterpoint to the growly wolf shifters in her Wolfverse.
Genre: Paranormal Romance Tropes/Features: Bear shifter MMCs, Human FMC, fated mates, hurt/comfort, ex drama, fancy peen Narrator: Multiple 1st Person POV Relationship Type: Why Choose, fast burn, high heat Book Type/Ending: 2nd book in duet with HEA TW/CW: See author’s note
It was ok but I found the story a bit dull. And bear shifters … idk there is just something not sexy about that.
I really felt there were things that should have been tied up in the book also that were just dropped. What happened to Nat’s marriage and her property? What happened with her relationship with her parents?
While I love Sam Hall I definitely wouldn’t read anymore bear shifter books.
2.5-3* This dragged so much. I liked the slow-burn in the first book, but now everything came crashing in, which was too much for my liking, aber the whole town/Paul thing just felt so drawn out and unexciting. And man, my fave guy never got the spotlight he deserved, why do I always like the unpopular ones? :'D
4.5 stars. This was a pretty good ending to the duet. I loved all the characters in this but especially the FMCs bestie, Holly. She was hilarious and I loved her attitude.
My only thought here is that this book could’ve been much shorter. Like. Much shorter. 🤷🏻♀️ Still liked it though.
The first part was a struggle, but after that it picked up for me. I enjoyed it when the mfc realized she didn’t have to be a hero and not everything is on her. And the men where absolutely perfect. The plot was a bit unbelievable to be honest but main part of the book was smut anyway. I struggled with the friends part tho, I did like the friendship but calling each other bitch as endearment is not for me.
Conclusion, I did enjoy the beat shifters aspect. But having bears in a RH was somewhat fat fetched for me. I will try the genre again without the RH.
It ended strong, but the ending was a bit predictable, although written well. Thorn started to grate after a while with his need for attention, but overall, I really enjoyed this duet.
My favorite part about this Duet is that it is a book about men who TURN INTO BEARS...but the major conflict surrounds a real estate scam run by her ex-husband 😂
Best parts of this book: -The best friend Holly ("I thought there'd be a whole lot more DP in this conversation.") -The pack moms ("We have words of wisdom to impart, advice to give, and suggestions for sexual positions to share." and also "She'll be ready for group sex soon, I think." -Bear puns in situations that don't call for it ("forebears") Parts of this book I didn't enjoy: -The constant emphasis on the fact that Natalie is the absolute only and most important thing to everyone, in any situation, all of the time. I get it, she's special but oh my god, can we go more than 4 seconds without reminding literally everyone that the four of them are obsessed with her. -Natalie's parents suck -Paul is like cartoon villain bad, which was fine but like no one else in the town ever stood up to this guy and just let him be a general nuisance even when he was committing property damage?? -The cover only has 3 bears on it and I was convinced that someone was going to die, despite the HEA guarantee.
Overall, I had fun reading this book. I think it would've fun to do like a reading vlog because some things were so ridiculous I was literally talking out loud to myself while I was reading at home.
I finished Book 1 and jumped straight into Book 2 so I feel like I just read one big book.
I really liked the plot, the new supporting characters, the instant acceptance, all the love, the MUMS who were so awesome to Nat, and all the food. The bears had deeper characterisation.
Probably the only thing I didn't really need was all the smut in the later chapters, but I'm asexual so take that with a grain of salt. It was actually neccessary for the plot according to the world building so yay. But to me, it felt like the plot was wrapping up but here's chapter after chapter of smut. Ok, I know some thirsty readers will love that, and it certainly didn't make the book bad or worse in any way. Just felt a teeny bit gratuitous or superfluous. Again, ace rep here, so smut lovers have at it.
I did really like the writing of the sex scenes and especially Nat's enthusiastic consent, and the worldbuilding around bear shifters, fated mates, mating bites, the special peen stuff. That was all really great.
I think I will continue the series even though Nat's story has concluded. I'm pretty confident the author knows what readers want from this series and will continue to deliver the same well written wholesome lovely bear shifter smut.
I was pleasantly surprised when I randomly saw book 1 on release day when I had been in search of a shifted romance!! Being and RH made it that much better. What I didn't realize in my haste to buy and read book 1 as just that it was book 1 and once I finished and it ended on a cliffhanger I was devastated! 😩
I wanted more and now cause what dedicated reader who finds a books d author they love doesnt.. But alas that's not how it works. 😣 I searched for book 2 found when it released, preordered and waited....
The excitement I had when it popped up in my Kindle was insurmountable... I just knew that I would continue to love the characters Sam gave life to even more than I did in book 1. The deep rooted love of being dated mages. The acceptance of their connection and reading how Natalie flourished into the beautiful woman she was always meant to be. She was cherished and supported in ways we all wish to be.
The spicy scenes were all absolutely salivatingly hot.. Making me jealous over a fictional person!!
Holly.... So hilarious it wasn't even fathomable. I was dying multiple times from her blunt, no nonsense attitude I which made her all the best side character that didn't always stay to the side 😆😆😆
I am and will always be thoroughly I'm pressed by these books and will be making my way through the rest of Sams books!!

This was so so good. Oh my, I don't even know where to begin! The steam, the action and drama... the angst! It was all so perfectly executed.
Sweet and funny Thorn really grew on me in this book, but Daddy Lars really had my heart. And Alaric?? Holding back until he knew that he could keep Nat completely safe? So romantic.
The steam was SO good! There is just something about Sam's romance scenes that really do it for more. Makes me want to find my own sleuth of bears ;)
I also loved the guys' mothers! They were supportive and loving without being overbearing. It was a really nice touch and a great way for the history of bear shifterkind to be shared.
A great conclusion to this duet! Sam Hall always delivers with her books, and her first forray into Bear Shifters was a smash! Highly enjoyed and highly recommend!
This one was a lot more action packed then the first, but sadly, I didn't get as hooked. I still enjoyed it, but it also felt like so much was going on at once, and there definitely was some plot holes. We see Paul grow into even more of an asshole and the drama that all entails but never hear anything about them getting an actual divorce and what happened to the house or anything like that. We did get to meet the parent's of the guys, and they were all great. I loved seeing how different they all were from each other. Though, to be honest, all the dads blended together. Nat finally gets her happy ending, but I wished we were able to see even more of it in the end. For what I thought was going to be a light fluff of a spicy book, this series was surprisingly well written and enjoyable.
Great second book and ending to the series. Spoilers.. I felt like poor Alaric needing to be the first to claim from how much he was holding back but once he did it all made sense and how they didn’t kill fuckface is beyond me. But I love me some Holly and her wild words. My kinda girl. I still love all the book references and stuff and the baculum!!!! Wtf!!! Never knew that was a thing. Bears!!! I really wanted the next book to be with Holly and her happily ever RH. But oh well. Glad to see Nat grow more confident and voicing what she wants. I see myself in her in some ways. The love these damn bears have for her in insane and I loved it.
This book was a good end to the duet - it acknowledged ALL abuse that Nat had been experiencing and ensured that the relationships between her and her men weren’t only about her healing. She was able to invest in helping them heal and grow as well. This duet was a lot darker than I was initially anticipating, but I thought it did a good job of addressing abuse in its many forms and how complex healing can be.

I loved this book a lot! Three way the guys are devoted to her is literally everything. The spice was great in this book but at times I do wish it was slightly more at the same time if that makes sense. At least more group scenes.
Read any trigger warnings though as this could be potentially upsetting for some people.
Okay. How does this have 4 stars on here? I've read 208 books this year, some have had a ton of plot, some have essentially been porn, but this misses both marks....
Up to the half way point of the book it's I think a day or two after the last book ended? We threw in the guys entire family, and instead of plot movement we get awkward forced friend sex talk and a main female character who has somehow gotten more annoying?
Just not for me.

This book picked up exactly where book one ended and the action and tension didn't let up. The tone of this book was much more about Natalie learning to trust her men and also herself. It was a beautiful thing to read. I also loved the families coming in to support them and absolutely take her fully in, unconditionally. It was the HEA that I needed to see for them all.
I mean, the first book was really good. The second one was boring, even the harem smut scenes was not really doing it for me.
Not really pleased with how the story got wrapped up and ended. I needed more closure and some more evidence it would be a happy ending for all part involved.
Would have been better if book one and book two was mashed into one and same book.
But then my rating would probably have been lower.
Will probably not read any Bear shapeshifter books in a while.
