Haley Turner’s life is upended when she gets a call she never expected. As a kid, Calvin also had a crush on his neighbor and brother’s best friend, Haley. Now, he struggles to find peace with his decision to break from his family’s legacy and create his own. He never expects to be rocked to his core when Haley drifts back to Promise, shaking the ground he walks on. His infatuation with Haley grows stronger as they rekindle their childhood friendship.

Discovering family truths and finding the reasons behind her mother’s long-standing resentment leaves Haley with challenging decisions. She is forced to confront truths, pains, and questions she never anticipated as she attempts to find her place. With each passing day, strange occurrences and dangerous incidents become more frequent, making her suspicious of those around her. Someone seems willing to do whatever it takes to prevent her from running Promise Creek Ranch. But why?

This book is about a girl, forced to charge head first back into her life she’s started to distance herself from. Unforeseen circumstances pull her back, reminding her of the friends and life she chose to leave behind.
Once she returns, she realizes things aren’t always as they seem, when she finally crashes into old feelings. New truths are discovered, forcing her to make a decision she never expected to make.
This small town, Angsty, slow burn, will definitely keep you on the edge of your sanity. Avery McCoy does an incredible job of stoking the fire, and once she ignites it, it burns HOT!!!
It’s a roller coaster of Emotions, Choice, and Finding Love.
The Villian cliffhanger???? Has me SCREAMING for book 2!!!!

I’m so glad I kept reading passed what felt like a slow start and some slightly triggering things (for me) that happened early on because otherwise I would have missed a captivating book. I truly liked how, while admitting their feelings early on, Cal and Haley took time to rebuild their relationship before moving forward. The mystery/suspense aspect had me questioning the true feelings of several characters, which in my opinion is good. It isn’t obvious who the bad guy is and I’m still not sure because … cliffhanger ending! Last but certainly not least, I hope Frankie’s story gets told one day.

If you loved movies like Sweet Home Alabama and shows like Virgin River, you’ll adore this duet!

Haley is a small town girl who went to Boston for college and to find her absent father. She left and never went back to her hometown until tragedy struck and she had to go back. She wasn’t meant to stay more than a couple weeks but fate had other plans. She reconnected with her childhood crush who was now the ranch Forman for her family’s cattle ranch and the town’s veterinarian.

All is going well, then sinister things keep happening that seem to be targeting Haley specifically. Ends on a cliffhanger and I immediately picked up book two, Promise Me, to find out who was behind all the terrible things happening on the farm that targeted Haley specifically.

An absolute delight from start to finish!

With out giving spoilers, I loved Promised! The characters were very likeable (some more so than others) and I am excitedly awaiting book 2!

I like the MFC Haley and the MMC Calvin. Though Haley has some ups and downs throughout the book she keeps fighting. Waiting for book 2 since there’s a cliffhanger.
Life is never easy on the farm. Look forward to reading what happens to these characters.

Promised is by far one of my favorite reads of the year. Small town slow burn cowboy romance featuring found family and a sprinkle of suspense - what more could you possibly ask for! This story is beautifully crafted, every character was completely relatable for me in one way or another! Definitely add Promised to your immediate TBR, you will not be disappointed! Although, the cliffhanger will leave you wanting more.. don’t worry though Avery has “promised” more to come soon.. 🖤

I absolutely enjoyed this book so much I finished it in 1 sitting, I just could not put it down. The characters and story were very well written, small town gal moves to the big city and then finds her way back home on the family farm where she reconnects with the friends she left behind 7 years ago. It was a slow burn, but oh so worth it when you keep reading. The cliffhanger ending just gets you wanting so much more and I can't wait to read book 2.

I have never read a "Cowboy Romance" before, and I have to admit that I didn't know if I would like it. I have no idea what others are like, but this one was a fantastic "small town, city girl returns home, friends to lovers romance" that happens to take place on a ranch. It was action-packed and had two "open door" scenes that I was pleasantly surprised by.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t go into it with any expectations just knew it was a small town romance & wanted to support an indie author. It was the story of childhood friends to lovers with a mystery thrown in towards the end. It ended on the biggest cliffhanger. I am SO READY for book two.
