My life has a use-by date. But Dante Luciano can use me all he likes...
Most people fight tooth and nail against unfairness. But my childhood was a masterclass in “life ain’t meant to be easy”, so I befriended acceptance a long time ago.
It’s part of the reason I can seize the moment, escape the inescapable (for now)...jump on a plane to New York and know the only way I’m coming back is in a box.
I should have been terrified when I got caught in the crossfire of the Mob, but when Dante threw his body in front of me, I felt alive for all the right reasons.
Slipping into his life (and his bed sheets) is as easy as breathing.
But Dante hates liars. So he’s going to hate me.

Mixed feelings for this destiny... I wanted to love it as much as I did the previous part, but the heroine held me back. She was the nice girl who came to the big city for a better tomorrow, almost broke, parentless, innocent, without backbone and mostly naive. Those attributes might be flattering but they were also too good. The story was mainly predictable yet nicely written, suspenseful and had some emotional moments.
Annie is in New York for adventure, and holy hell did she find it LOL! She's in the wrong place at the wrong time & ends up in the middle of a shootout, and now she's taken back to a safe compound after Dante rescues her. This girl certainly has the best heart ever, and is very strong as she's no damsel in distress despite her past, and the very real danger she's in now. She goes about her life at his home with a smile on her face, learns to cook, and spends all kinds of time with Dante's son, who hasn't spoken in a very long time after serious traumatic events in his young life. She & Dante have a lot of chemistry going on, and it's not long before it won't be denied any longer & when it does explode, it's super HOT HOT HOT! However, Dante hates liars, and Annie has a big secret that she's not willing to talk about, and as you well know secrets always come out, not to mention she still has that huge target on her back so yeah, I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover. This is another fantastic chapter in the Men of New York series that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the second book in The Men of New York and is a mafia themed romance. It's overflowing with lots of fast action, suspense and drama. It will capture your attention right at the beginning and might cause you to lose a little sleep. It won't take you long to get caught up in Dante and Annie's story, Overflowing with passion and chemistry this book will grab your emotions and attention. Gripping and page turning, a book you don't want to miss. I read a free advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Whenever I read a story with a child, my heart just melts. And this story is no different. The interactions between little Leo and Annie are so sweet. The fact that Dante treats Annie with the respect she deserves is just icing on the cake.
Dante, a strong, hard single father shows his softer side in the perfect ways. Annie shows her maturity more and more as you read through the pages. Both characters (actually, all three) suffering a trauma of sorts from their pasts come together to help one another overcome those hurts and heal. All the while, protecting each other from danger lurking.
This is definitely a slow burn, and a story I absolutely loved. It has the strong H, perfectly independent h, an adorable young little guy, and enough romance, sweetness, suspense to hold the interest of anyone who is a fan of Mafia, single fathers, and age-gap stories.
Rarely does a mafia book leave warm butterflies in your stomach, but this one surely does!
Dante rescues Annie when she finds herself and the wrong place at the wrong time. With a target now on her back, Dante takes her to the compound in order to protect her. While he is attracted to her, the experience and district built by his ex-wife has him not desiring to commit to another woman. His 8 yr old son, Leo, and his mafia family are the only things that matter to him—for now.
Annie is probably one of my favorite characters. Even though she hasn’t had the happiest childhood, she has shown she is mature and takes responsibility seriously, having had to care for her mother who had cancer. When she moves into Dante’s compound, the situation shocks her but she still makes do by helping the housekeeper, Maria, tending to Dante’s wounds, and helping Dante’s son, Leo, overcome past trauma. I especially loved these interactions, and it left me giddy. Dante also has a golden heart, looking after his son and treating Annie respectfully. He does have some stubbornness and distrust he needs to confront (especially when Annie tries to explain why she doesn’t reveal something about herself though I do side with Annie on this one and agree with Sebastian, Carter, and Nico that Dante needs to rip the band aid off), but overall he is a solid character that proves how much he cares.
I also liked seeing Sebastian from the previous book and look forward to Carter’s story—his banter with Dante is witty! I also liked Nico and hope he gets a story too.
The mafia plot was also exciting as Dante is trying to flush out a thief and while that thief is elusive, there is still plenty of action and investigation that happens, balancing out the romance and good-feel parts of the story.
Overall, this was a delight to read!.

This is the second book in the Men Of New York series each can be read as a standalone but why would you do that 😊has a sexy man and the women that captured his heart without even trying I like the spin on this mafia story Dante sexy as all get out leader an amazing single dad, a protector of his family and those he love he will die for them but a man with deep trust issues due to an ex. wife. Annie has had it rough all her life but still see goodness in others taking care of her mother who had cancer so growing up quickly wasn’t an option it was a must for her heading to NY with high hope that are quickly dashed because the minute she steps off the bus she walks right into the middle of a shootout being rescued by the hottest man and, taken to a compound for protection. What’s amazing it she doesn’t let it get her down she arrive under questionable circumstances with a target on her no less and still offers to help around the compound, gets close to his son who hasn’t really spoken much due to trauma, and she does it all happy, smiling, and glad to help which isn’t something he nor his men have seen in a long while. The attraction was instant, intense and the magnetic pull isn’t something they can ignore no matter how hard they try the more she shows him who she really is the more his heart feels but with the things his ex. took him through has him questioning everything about his growing feelings for the sweet girl he is protecting especially with the secrets she isn’t willing to share but can he keep her safe, will or can she trust him with her secrets, will her secrets keep them apart, will his secrets keep them apart, will his son heal with her help becoming more of a normal playful child, and can they find happiness among all the craziness?.

This is book two in The Men of New York Series and it is Dante and Annie's story and omg it is definitely a must read. When Annie's mother died two months ago Annie did the only thing g that she could do and that was sell everything and pay off all the debts and then what was left she took it and moved from the country to New York but things were not what she was expecting and decided to leave her room and to for a run to help her with her stress and fears only to end up in the middle of a gun right and to paralysed to move until a man throws her to the floor and stays over her to protect her. When Dante and his men had a trip to one of the club's in queens to get the money that they were owed everything went wrong and they ended up in a gun right and he also rescued a woman from the sidewalk and because she now has a target on her back Dante decides to take her to the compound so that she is protected until they can solve the problem that has arisen. Dante and Annie had a instant attraction and sizzling chemistry and then add in the twists and turns and the ups and downs along with danger, suspense, drama, loss, hope, love, great chemistry, banter and some difficult situations and it leaves you with a addictive read that has you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath and you can't put it down and have to keep turning the pages wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all and I absolutely loved the ending and bonus epilogue. Dante's son Leo was absolutely adorable and I loved watching him grow and come into his own when he was with Annie and even though Annie had such a difficult life she was still grounded, kind, caring, compassionate, strong, loving and you could see why Dante fell so hard for her and even though Dante is strong, tough, has trust issue's, protective and has a heart of gold his love for his son Leo shines through everything and it was such a beautiful thing to see. Samantha Skye is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and the depth to her story's are what makes you go back time and time again to read them and I can't wait to read more of her book's in the future. I definitely recommend you read this book and other's by her and you will not be disappointed.
Dante is Sebastian’s second in command when he is away. Looking into an issue with one of the family, it goes pear shaped and puts a beautiful red headed siren in his path😍 His keen interest in her as she stays with him gets stronger and stronger, but he’s not sure he’s open to something more, even though she tempts him.
Annie has only just arrived in New York when she’s caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, some might say wrong time, right place😉 She then finds herself the guest of a man who saved her life and becomes engrained in their everyday life all the while healing both the father and the son with her care taking nature🙌
A wonderful story and that ending ensured I had a big smile on my face and some tears making themselves know🥰 Looking forward to Carter’s book next.
This is a beautifully written slow burn romance between Dante and Annie. The author brings strong characters and delivers a story filled with danger, suspense, romance and love. I loved little Leo and his relationship with Annie as well as the way all three come together in this story. The scenes are painted perfectly and the story flows fluidly. Loved and recommend this book!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
My heart y’all!!! Those moments with Little Red and Leo? Oh gosh!!! Just melted my heart.
This is definitely a MUST read.
From the start we get the action, as Dante and his team are taking care of some ‘business’ Annie gets thrown in the middle of the fire!! Talk about been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The need for Dante to protect Annie kicks in immediately, and that’s exactly what he does.
I received an ARC of this story via Booksprout and this is my voluntary review.
Dante rescues Annie when she finds herself at the wrong place at the wrong time. The moment that Dante has Annie in his arms, she is his. He must protect her now, so he brings her home, and that is the best decision he ever made. Soon Annie warms her way not only into Dante's heart but his son's heart as well.
I loved this characters!!! Annie has had a hard life but that has not made her jaded or anything. She is the sweetest woman ever to Leo and Dante. She is listens and treats them like how they soon be treated. And Dante likes to think he is bad and tough, but really he just a single dad looking for love. Annie is the perfect woman for him.
This book had the perfect amount of mafia and romance! Cannot wait for Carter's book!!!
I absolutely devoured this book and can’t not wait for the next one!
First of I am a sucker for single father book and this one was written so well! The way the characters met and how he was protective of her the second he saw her made my swoon for him! Dante the MMC is very protective over the people he loves and they way he is with his son and Little Red it melted my heart! We all love a hot mafia hard ass who is only soft for the people he loves!
I also loved that Little Red (Annie FMC) had such a huge impact on his son and really loved how they worked together and the bond between them was built!
There were many obstacles on this book that main characters had to over come but the way Annie showed up for his family without being asked too was AMAZING! I loved the Main Characters and their love for each other!
Samantha did such an amazing job with this series so far and I can’t wait for more!
5/5⭐️ 5/5🥵

Oh, my goodness! I love Samantha Skye books, all of them. But this one hit closer to home. I enjoyed reading about Little Leo's trauma mutism, and I was pleased with how well Annie bonded with the child. I adored the age gap since my husband and I are 12 years apart and love it! Once again, this author delivered a romance novel I couldn't put down. I loved how Dante and Annie met. I love their destiny. I relished reading this story. Thank you for this book, I adore your mafia boys.

My Destiny l absolutely loved this mafia read! Loved all the suspense the slowburn single dad, agegap all tropes there! Loved little Leo and him breaking through his obstacles! Little Red aka Annie and Dante's chemistry was prefect and the sexy scenes! Fantastic ending as was the bonus epilogue! Looking forward to Carters story My Fight!
I really wanted to like this one as much as the first, but the FMC kind of put me off. She started off as interesting and what seemed like a strong character.
Her mother had just passed away after a long battle with cancer, and Annie left the country trailer park life and moved to NYC with barely any money or plan. On her first night, she goes for a jog and ends up stumbling across a Mafia shoot out. Enter Dante saving her life and randomly kidnapping her 🤣🤣
Dante takes her back to his place (a secure compond that apparently no one but family enters.. that seemed like a random move since he didn't even know her name or anything about her.. but hey, we continue on.
After some time, Annie starts bonding with little Leo, a 8 yr old who has chosen to stop speaking after a truama event via his mother. The scenes with Leo were so adorable (even though a bit predictable). But I wanted to see Annie maybe start teaching him stuff rather than just Lego. He is 8 and should be having some schooling. So it would have been good to see her use Lego to teach him some things or move him on to others, which led to him trusting and wanting to speak. I did want a bit more details on his truama, though. As we got very vague mentions of it. I kept waiting for more from his mother about what he saw or happened to him, but we didn't get it. And it kind of annoyed me that Annie forgot to tell Dante that Leo was humming with her. That scene was adorable, but it annoyed me that she didn't update him because he went into sexy time.
The story progressed as you expected. The Smut level increased from the previous, and I'm in 2 minds if it was needed or not. It didn't really give anything to the story, and sometimes, I skipped as it was weird placements to story flow. Also, it kept stating that she was screaming out, and all I kept thinking was .. there is a 8yr old in this house a few doors down or upstairs. Can we have some decorum, please.. you are both adults.
I was disappointed we didn't get any Goldie scenes. Just mentions. I was hoping for her to meet Annie and become friends and allies. But it all happened off page 😔 And did she have a baby or not?? The bonus chapter in the previous book said she did 1 yr old. This seemed to be on that timeline, but there was no mention of it.
I was also disappointed we didn't get any Sebastian Leo moments. Since it was mentioned in the first about being his God father, we never got any scenes. There could have been a nice dinner scene where Dante and Annie are still in denial, and maybe Leo outted them to Sebastian and Goldie or something.
The potential breast cancer storyline seemed rushed out. I thought we were headed to a caretaker scene or end where she would recover, but Dante had to look after her for a little while. But after almost 3/4 of the book of her umming and ahhing to tell him.. it was kind of concluded out of nowhere. And there wasn't really any explanation as to why she kept fainting or being cold etc. She had an iron transfusion, and the lump removed and boom she is 💯 a-ok 👍
The story is well written with the sub mafia plot interesting but still a little confusing. As there weren't strong details as to the reason the brothers were so angry at them all to get to that point. And in Mafia world, that guy would have been killed years ago as soon as he did anything with Dantes wife.. whether they were happily married or not. It's a 1 strike 1 bullet world. No explanations are needed or consequences.
It just felt a bit rushed this one and maybe edited too much that maybe key plot lines were accidentally removed.
Have to say I did really enjoy this book as I thought that the storyline had great potential. It was my first book that I’ve read by this particular author, and if I’m being completely honest, I did find myself a little confused at times as Dante has a shoot out at the club and Annie just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time with that, Dante then takes her back to his family home when no strangers or anyone that isn’t a part of the family is allowed which I did find a little odd.
As The story progresses, we find out that Annie has a lump in her breast, and with this there are connected scenes where Annie has fainting spells or get really cold in some scenes and sometime later we find out that the lump was removed and it was nothing serious, leaving the story concluded without an actual reason as to why Annie was fainting and getting cold spells. Which I have to say did leave me confused.
There were a lot of spicy scenes that were enjoyable, but also in nearly every spicy scene. Annie is depicted as screaming out in pleasure from what Dante is doing to her and a stupid as it sounds. I was sat here thinking but surely Leo would hear something especially if Annie was screaming out
Regarding Leo, I did really enjoy the scenes between Leo and Annie, especially when he finally started opening up to her and started talking to her as due to traumatic events with his mum. He became mute until he met Annie.
I will say throughout this book, we read of certain events happening but there aren’t actually depicted scenes of those events taken place. We just hear about them as sometimes the book does jump forward by a few weeks like when Goldie met Annie for the first time there was no actual scene of the meeting, but later on we were told that they met and got on well.

After reading My Legacy this was a huge disappointment. I received My Legacy as a free download and jumped on buying the box set - lesson learned.
The age difference between Annie (21) and Dante (35) is so obvious and pathetic. Fourteen years may work if you're in your 30's but Annie was immature and unworldly. Dante was too mature and worldly for her.
Annie - At the beginning I got the impression that she was close to her mother but then when she was talking to Dante she was very negative about her and there was no love lost. It was amazing how Annie was able to bring Dante's son around when no one else could. Are we to actually believe that she had the knowledge on how to deal with his condition and no one else close to him did. It drove me crazy when she continued to answer "Yes Dante" and "No Dante".
As for Dante. A man of 35 in the mafia should have a stronger woman who can be his equal not a puppet. Like Goldie and Sebastian in book one, give Dante a challenge.
As for the ex-wife who didn't see what was going to happen after the second phone call?
I skipped a lot of this book because there was chapter after chapter of sex. Example, one chapter is about the sex, the next chapter is Annie's POV on the sex, and the next chapter is Dante's POV on the sex. That was last night, so the next morning they wake to a chapter of sex. You got it, then we have Annie's POV on the sex and then Dante's POV. I felt like I was reading a book on porn.
So, we all know how I feel about this book. Here's hoping that the next two stories are better since I already paid for them
My Destiny is the 2nd in the Men of New York series by Samantha Skye!
Annie’s mom passes away, and needing a change she decides to pack up and head to New York. When she’s taking a run around the city she finds herself in a “wrong place at the wrong time” situation, and it changes her life forever.
After Dante’s ex wife’s betrayal he is convicted he will never find someone else, but as soon as he saves the pretty girl on the street he knows she’s meant to be his.
I really loved this book! While Dante is protective and guarded, Annie is strong, but soft and sweet especially for Dante’s son, Leo. Annie and Dante share a special connection, but the bond Annie easily and naturally builds with Leo is the absolute best. All three have been through trauma, but together they work through it and come out stronger. I highly suggest downloading and reading the extended epilogue it makes the story even better. I excited for the next book in this series be released.
After such a dismal failure with his first wife, Dante hopes for better with Annie and his son Leo. Dante makes it clear up front though that he will not tolerate lies as his first wife destroyed their marriage and his son with lies. Annie is hiding a life threatening condition and cannot bring herself to tell Dante about it, which blows up in her face when he finds out. What is more important; divulging a truth that is only harmful to yourself? Or letting others know your pain and worries from the start? Will Dante be able to understand why she kept a painful part of herself secret or will he not be able to trust her again? This is a somewhat heart wrenching story that will have you cheering on both the hero and heroine for their life values.

The single dad trope is my favorite and this one did not disappoint . Dante was the perfect balance of mobster and family man. He was strong and vicious in his job, but he was also loyal and loving at home. Annie was innocent but not naive. Her relationship with Dante was spicy and her relationship with Dante's son, Leo was heart warming. The author also did a really good job writing Leo's character and his issues in an age appropriate, genuine manner, without them seeming over the top. There were times when I wanted to reach into the book and hug that sweet little boy. The story, with its twists and turns, and ups and downs, kept me captivated from beginning to end. The side characters were all intriguing and I cannot wait to see what's next for Carter and Nico.
Dante is incredible. Leo is adorable and so sweet. Dante is a good dad and wants the best for his son. If only his ex-wife would want the best for him as well.
Annie, practically dropped from the sky into Dante's lap and she is drawn to him as he is drawn to her. There is something that pulls them together.
Annie is hiding a secret and she knows not telling Dante is risking everything, but she just wants to live without fear of pity or being discarded. She wants to live on her terms, no matter how long she will live.
Dante despises secrets. When Annie keeps something from him he is furious and pushes her away. Only he doesn't really want to. He wants to keep her, but can he forgive her, or will it be too late? Will his enemies find her first? And could she ever forgive him for pushing her away when she needed him the most?
This is the 2nd book in this fascinating series, and this is Dante and Annie’s journey. Dante is mafia and a single dad, and when Annie is in the wrong place at the wrong time, she becomes a target, and he comes to her rescue. Taking her back to his compound. Annie helps around the compound, and she helps Dante’s son to overcome past trauma. This is a well written slow burn, emotional roller coaster, which is action packed, with suspense, age gap, drama, family, trauma, 2nd chances, twists, heartbreak, and is a heartfelt addictive page turner, which pulls at the heartstrings throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Give Me Books and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After loving My Legacy earlier this year, I couldn't wait to read Dante's story, and what a story it was!
I loved Dante and Annie's chemistry from the first moment they met and Annie's relationship with Leo just melted my heart!
She proves to him that she isn't just the damsel in distress that she appeared to be but after a face-off with his ex, he learns that she has been lying about something. The one thing that Dante hates is liars. With a huge target still on her back, she is taken to a safe house where she decides what she wants to do once she is safe as she feels like she is out of Dante's life now.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series as I have loved the series so far!

why was this so surprisingly good. i was really impressed by this one. i wasn't so sure about it at first, but then it was really, really good. the plot was awesome, the romance was really good, and the tropes that were present were perfect for the story. it was really sad at some points, and i was scared of what was going to happen, but it honestly all went well int eh end. this was exactly what i wanted it to be and more. a cute little mafia style romance, with a single father trope and insta love type stuff. it was great. i loved the relationship between annie and dante, and i think the two of them worked really well together, even if they had some huge struggles for a while. check it out, i think you would really enjoy this, whoever you are. its wonderful!
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This mafia romance has danger, violence, betrayal, secrets and turmoil. It also has heartache, strength, loyalty, family, friendship, passion and finally love. I thought that Annie, Dante and Leo were great together. Annie fit so well into their private world but her secrets can destroy everything she mended back together. I really liked their story. I thought I knew what to expect from this book, but it became much more which made it hard to put down.

Holy smokes this was a great book! My first by Samantha, I guarantee it will not be my last. I am totally and completely in love with Dante! What a perfect BBF. He was so right for Annie and she was his salvation. My heart ached for her through so much of the story but it’s all worth it by the end. I’m now counting the days until we get Carter’s book in November and Sebastian’s is on my TBR list. If they are as amazing as Dante and Annie’s story Samantha will go on my one-click list.

this would be a 3.4 for me.. Well the story was good but it just lost me there as to why it made him so angry? Yes I understand she did not tell him and she should have, but if he loved her and her having the "sickness", he should have benn there for her right? She saved his son gor goodness sake, she sacrificed her own life for the boy. It just doesn't make sense no? and the FL kept on blaming herself, it just sound unrealistic. and then out of no where since she saved him again for the second time, he wants her back, and not just being a creep and look at her at night right. I dunno, I just felt it could have been better.
That's for me though.

This is the second book in the Men of New York series and it was a book you will devour. Annie is in the wrong place at the wrong time and her life changes in that instant. Dante is a single dad who doesn't trust easily and hates liars. His past has made him very jaded. When he sees Annie he becomes very possessive and protective from the start. This book is a slow burn and full of angst while Dante tries his hardest to not give into his desires for Annie. While Annie is just living in the moment she is bringing life back into him and his son. I loved the relationship she had with Leo it was heartwarming and so sweet. The book is full of action and when Dante feels he has been betrayed their worlds are shaken. Annie becomes the protector and shows Dante what love truly means. This book was a great read and I will be moving on to the next book. Samantha Skye is becoming a one click buy for me her books are so enjoyable.
This is the first book I've read by the author and it will not be my last. I think I've found another mafia author to add to my long list of mafia authors to follow and read. This book really captured my attention. I loved the storyline, the characters and everything in between. Dante and Annie are just amazing. But what I loved more is how Annie is with Dante's son, little Leo. I absolutely loved those scenes. My heart just melts wtahcing them together. She is just what both Dante and Leo need. Absolutely amazing first read for me.
