It's Me, Charlie-Special EditionCharlie's back with a brand new special edition cover, digitally signed, and with a bonus chapter!
I know everything about her, I've been her "book bestie" for over a year now. I've read every book she has ever published. The books that tell me every fantasy she has, the books that tell me exactly what she wants. She doesn't know who I am behind the screen, but I don't' think she will care much once I show her that I am the perfect man for her. Women have rejected me in the past, but I've studied Jessie so much there is no way I could get it wrong this time.
What happens when the person you thought was just an online friend turns out to be an obsessive monster. You never know who is truly behind the screen when you are engaging with people online. Especially, things like "bookstagram" where the community is so welcoming. What happens when your "book bestie" falls in love with you and will stop at nothing to show you just how deep that love is.
Charlie has been posing as a woman in the book community to gain the trust and friendship of the woman he has been obsessing over, Jessie. Jessie is a self-published author of smutty or erotic, books who is just trying to get her books out there in a massive genre. What Jessie doesn't know is that her biggest fan has been waiting for the perfect time to meet her and make all of her fantasies come true.
Are you ready to meet Charlie?
Author 18+ WARNING! This short story is considered EXTREME HORROR, there are GRAPHIC SITUATIONS! This book is disgusting, and you probably shouldn't read it. But if you are still interested in meeting Charlie, please be aware that you were warned. YOU WERE WARNED.
THE SPIT GOT MEEEEE 🤢 I'm the one that's never been phased by a damn thing while reading but apparently even I have a "thing" that is a full fucking stop NO- and apparently it's old, cold, inches of SPIT. I WOULD RATHER DIE.
The plot of kidnapping by a "less than" guy with mommy issues is a bit overused. I did enjoy the twist that her captor was an online book buddy though, quite eery for us book peeps! At times it was too unrealistic... the kidnapping going off without a hitch, no one questioning the immediate "I'm out" by the MC, and no one seemingly looking for her at all. At the same time, the obsession with her and her books was straight unhinged and I could see happening in real life (unfortunately.) The ending didn't go exactly as I would've hoped and left a bit to be desired as well. I also actually didn't like the extra chapter. I think it was better off without it.
Overall okay and I think a lot of the reviewers of the OG book will be happier with this version, I didn't find a lot of grammatical and spelling errors as others mentioned in the previous version. Pleased to see an author hearing their reviewers out and making changes.
Absolutely disgusting, made me feel sick in my mouth. Wish there had been a little more about Jessie. Will definitely have to read something else before I take a look at what else the author has written. <3
That was gross, but the details, it painted a clear picture in my mind. The cup scene literally made my hand fly in front of my mouth in disgust. The story itself could've used more gore
2.5 stars. This is absolutely disgusting and nauseating. I actually felt sick to my stomach, which is exactly the point of this genre. For that, I will give it brownie points. Unfortunately I can’t rate this very high though. The writing style was that of a 14 year old Wattpad user and the plot was very overdone and unoriginal. I also think it should’ve been longer as it was actually too short for me as I didn’t feel much suspense or terror before it was concluded.
Baja Blasts and Taco Bell might be ruined for some of y’all after reading this one🤣
The SPIT really had me gagging hardcore. That shit got to me. Hands down one of the most vile stories I’ve read from Guidroz. This story had a little bit of everything in it. We have a stalker/abduction, romance, erotica, gore and LOTS of bodily fluids. 🤢
Charlie meets a self published author online and becomes book besties with her. They talk every day but Jessie doesn’t actually know who Charlie is or what they look like. Jessie also only knows Charlie as a woman online and not a man.
One day Charlie decides to meet Jessie in real life to make all of her fantasies come true. He knows she will be happy but just might need some convincing since he isn’t the most attractive man out there. Oh, Charlie…
This was a one-sitting binge read for me. Highly recommend!
Zemsta na nim była dość krótka (i tak mój ulubiony moment). Z drugiej strony to extreme horror, więc nie oczekiwałxm dobrego/satysfakcjonującego zakończenia
"Despite having taken her against her will, I refuse to be labelled a rapist. My love for this woman will be reciprocated, and by tomorrow's end, she will love me too."
Do we really know who we're talking to online?
Charlie is completely and utterly obsessed with Jessie, an author he's been speaking to online under a false identity and very dark motives. He gives into his desire to kidnap her, and things go wrong from there.. see Jessie is an author of Dark Erotica and Charlie thinks she's into what she writes..
I loved this idea. So many of us correspond with others online nowadays, it's the norm, but do we really know who we're talking to? The Internet can be a scary place, and this proves it.
This story is beautifully written, perfect visuals.. (and smells 💀) and builds such an atmosphere as to how terrifying it would be to be captured by an infatuated stranger.
It has some very disgusting moments, one in particular that will leave you avoiding a particular drink completely 😆 any book that makes me say "Oh God.. Ugh, God, that's not.. that's not.. 🤢" is a winner for me 😂
I only wish it was longer, and we had more of a back story on the stalking and more time between Charlie and Jessie, but other than that, for a debut, she absolutely killed it. I'll be devouring all of her work.
🥤It’s me, Charlie. Special Edition with Bonus Chapter - by CM Guidroz
🍳Overview: “What happens when the person you thought was just an online friend turns out to be an obsessive monster. You never know who is truly behind the screen when you are engaging with people online. Especially, things like "bookstagram" where the community is so welcoming. What happens when your "book bestie" falls in love with you and will stop at nothing to show you just how deep that love is.”
💭 My Thoughts:
You may say you have no triggers, but this book 👏🏻 will 👏🏻 change 👏🏻 your 👏🏻 mind 👏🏻!!
I was horrified and disgusted throughout this book. It’s SO INSANE how the terrifying events could actually happen in this novella. Is your book bestie who they really say they are? Or are they actually some creep who 🤢 is saving you a special surprise on his nightstand in a Taco Bell Baha Blast cup? (Lord give me strength).
🦷 The bonus chapter: WHAT THE!!!!!! Oh sweet baby Jesus, tell me we are getting a book two!
If you're looking for a book to make you question every single online conversation you've ever had in the past… Or if you want something that makes you never want to open your front door again… This one is perfect for that.
Charlie has been busy preparing his whole life to meet the love of his life. He knows how to be the perfect boyfriend…unfortunately, women just don't appreciate him. Until now, he's found the perfect one… “Jessie will be moving in this week; she doesn’t know it yet, but I’ve waited long enough.”.
This was intense & creepy. I found myself laughing at Charlie multiple times, but not in a good way. More of like a horrified, anxious, I can't believe he is thinking this kind of way. .it kept me nervous for Jessie the whole way. Reading about his antics. Charlie's “flavors from the week” were nauseating. 🤮 This one is going to be sticking with me for a while, or at least every time I pass a Taco Bell. I definitely would recommend checking this out.
This short little story definitely turned my stomach but with the last two chapters I was rooting for Jessie to get her chance at revenge. I love that even though I went in expecting the villain to win he didn’t well the extended chapter leads me to believe he may want a rematch.
When obsession turned dark desires creates a monster lurking in plain sight what is one to do?
He was right there and she didn’t even notice… this novella makes me a lot more cautious about who I talk to on the internet 🛜 it sounds funny saying that in my twenties but this short story reignited the fear of you never really know who you’re talking to on the internet and no matter how sweet or genuine someone seems they could be holding some sinister secrets. Charlie turned my stomach and the way the author used spit just made me gag.
Enjoyable quick short read but will turn your stomach if bodily fluids gross you out which they do for me. Would recommend along with a barf bag just in case.
“I will be her monster, her stalker, her morally grey, possessive man that she has been longing for.”
Quick little horror story about a guy that takes dark romance in the most literal way. He believes an indie author that writes dark smut honestly wants the things she writes.
And he’s not just an anybody, he’s a psycho. lol
There are some truly disgusting things in this short story, but it was entertaining nonetheless. lol
I laughed and read it in one sitting.
If you like horror and smut, give this one a try!
It needs some editing, and I didn’t like the way it was written in the past.
This book made me gag and I can simply not rate it. I think it could've approved of much more descriptive writing, because it felt like I was just flying over the words with a movie in my head that was playing in 10x speed. But I do appreciate the view it painted on actual stalkers and how they are completely different from booktok stalkers- unattractive, unlikeable and genuinely creepy. This book included the bonus chapter, and I think it's too unrealistic, the bonus chapter shouldn't have been a thing tbh.
First off, ick. The spit situation, absolutely not. No ma'am. No sir. No f-ing way. 🤢 This story really makes you think twice about who you interact with online. Especially those active in the booktok/bookstagram communities. 😅 There's stalking, gore, a little sex, a completely delulu MMC, and it will make your tummy turn at times. Call me a weirdo, but I have enjoyed every C.M. Guidroz book I've read. Even if they make want to throw up at times. 😂
This book was crazy. Charlie was beyond delusional. He goes on line pretends to be a girl named Charlie, befriends a book girl and stalks her. Then makes his own chloroform, kidnaps her ties her up and holds her hostage. Now he’s a huge slob but just “assumes” she’ll fall in with him, cook him dinner and clean his house. Ya that doesn’t happen. You have to read it yourself if you want to know more Just be sure to check the trigger warnings.
I love how this book gives you a different perspective on the whole “dark romance“ genre. Oh, it suddenly isn’t fun to be kidnapped as soon as it is not from a tall, tanned, attractive guy? **zade** If you know what I mean. Surprise. I think it slightly criticises this whole genre. Although I like me some dark romance sometimes, this book does show how unrealistic and sick it actually is…
Oh and it totally made me gag… read it at work. Wouldn’t recommend doing that
This story was so disturbing. Makes you really think about who you’re interacting with online when you’ve never met the person. This story follows Charlie-a man who pretends to be a woman’s book-bestie to stalk her and make her love him. I loved the bonus chapter and would love to get more of this story!
it’s unnerving how realistic a scenario this is but like THAT ball gag scene was soooo gross. i would simply kms if that happened to me. jessie is stronger than i am lmao
also buddy read some of this with my sister, sharing the same kindle, on a plane ride from england and that’s called ✨ sisterly bonding ✨
Charlie’s fallen in love with an author, he wants to re-enact every scene with her in her spicy books with her & believes they’re going to live together happily with him bringing all her fantasies to life 😳
Crazy that this does happen though! I enjoyed this start to finish, it made me gag a couple times though, he’s absolutely gross 🤮
Giving this 4 stars because I actually gagged!! Spent a good 10 minutes trying to get through the spit scene with my husband laughing at me. I’ve read some rough stuff but girl!!! If you like quick messed up books PLEASE READ!!
I really was immersed in the story. I was disgusted and entertained at the same time. This book is not for the faint of heart. Lesson learned don’t trust online book besties 🤣
I've read some pretty f*cked up books, but the cup scene in this book actually made me nauseous. Please read trigger warnings. Would be a 4 ⭐ if it was a bit longer. Fast, easy, disturbing read.
A great reminder that you never know who you are talking to and sharing your info with. Id give this short novel a 10 out of 10 if I could. Would love a second books in Jessie's point of view and of course the return of charlie.
Hilariously disgusting! I don’t take pleasure of picturing what was described but the details were so clear and easy to imagine that it was hard for me to put the book down. Overall, I think I’ve unlocked a genre of books I never knew I’d be interested in lol!!
What would you do if the person you were talking to wasn’t who you thought they were? What would you do? I know I would be p!$$ed off. What if the person wasn’t hurting you tho? Not sure what I would do.
Charlie is in the BookTok community. Connects with his followers and gives book recommendations. Charlie talks to this indie author and there book besties. Gets the indie author’s address to send her stuff that she won. Charlie has a plan.
Do you think the plan will backfire or go according to plan? Well if you want to know, go read the book and find out for yourself.
Go show this author some love and support cause she definitely deserves it. Please be kind and courteous when leaving a review. Don’t tell anyone not to read a book because you don’t like it, just because you don’t doesn’t mean someone else won’t. Not everyone likes the same kind of books and that is perfectly fine.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I can't rate this as 5 star, or any star...acturately ..(just picked one)....love the premise, respect the commitment from the writer to not hold back what so ever when setting up the depraved and vial atmosphere to match the MCs inner workings. You ain't ready for Charlie, read with caution.
