Diamond King

Rate this book
An international art thief. A mysterious series of thefts and murders. An FBI agent’s career hangs in the balance.

FBI Agent Kate Walsh has been called to Washington D.C. to testify before Congress about her actions in a previous case. The accusations could be career ending and she has much to prove. When the international art thief known as the Phantom is thought to have struck in D.C. just miles away, Kate feels betrayed and angry.

She thought she had formed a bond with him and now he’s striking on her home turf. Kate is forced to bring him to justice if she has any hope of salvaging her job and her reputation. There’s just one catch – the crimes don’t feel like the Phantom’s. And there are facts about him only Kate knows.

The deeper she gets into the case, the more Kate thinks something else is at play. The evidence just isn’t adding up. Finding the Phantom could prove impossible and convincing him to help her might end her career. Can Kate get him to come out of the shadows or has she been so comprised by the relationship she can’t see the truth in front of her?

If you like riveting crime fiction and the thrill of the chase, read Diamond King as a standalone or as book #7 in the FBI Agent Kate Walsh Thriller series.

While this is a standalone mystery, a reoccurring character’s backstory is better understood reading the free novella “The Curators” and then Book #6 “Close Killer” first. This is not necessary, and no previous spoilers are given away by reading Diamond Killer before the others. Some readers just prefer it.

This is such a good series! In some ways there’s more of a romance aspect in this series than in Stacy M. Jones’ other series. It’s more descriptive in this one anyway and that isn’t a bad thing - just something to note. Kate and Declan’s relationship blends friendship, a solid working partnership and their evolving romantic relationship. The art theft investigation in this installment brings back Leo, an art thief known as the Phantom. He and Kate have a connection, which brings added tension both personally and professionally for Kate and by extension for Declan. The storyline is engrossing, holding your interest to the final conclusion!

This was a breathtaking read. I love the series and the characters. We are back in the world of art theft bringing The Phantom back into the lives of Kate and Declan.

Following on from events in the last book, the story begins with Kate in the firing line at a Senate hearing into the team's activities in that case. When a valuable painting is stolen from a museum and there are fataiities, Kate is instructed that her job is on the line if she doesn't find The Phantom and solve these crimes.

The pace is relentless throughout as Kate and Declan try to get to the bottom of things. The curveball that is thrown later in the book totally wrongfooted me and the intriguing ending sets things up nicely for future books which can't come soon enough.

Another Kate Walsh riveting thriller! Kate and Declan are once again involved in the world of art thefts and the bodies are also piling up. Not to mention throwing into the mix the international art thief known as the Phantom. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read with a wonderful interplay between the main characters and seemingly unsolvable art thefts that really test the abilities of Kate and her partner Declan.

She is in trouble and having to answer questions about a previous case when thefts are reported. At first it points its finger at one man but she does not believe he is behind it all. Things will get even more complicated as she knows he is not behind them. Can she get the right person? Will she save her career? See how she gets in

A series that gets better & better & better! This book seals a relationship, flaunts another, and brings both together in an unexpected twist. All the while spinning a web with an art heist, murders, hidden codes…the list goes on and on! Is it the devil we know or the devil we don’t know?? Highly recommend any of Stacy M. Jones’s books. THIS SERIES IS EXCELLENT AND WILL NOT DISAPPOINT !

Really enjoy this series

Really enjoy the Kate Walsh series and I'm so glad she and Declan finally gave it a chance. I really like the phantom character and am glad he was given a shot instead of arrested or worse. This was a great read filled with exciting twist and turns. Can't wait for the next adventure.

let’s go Leo

The author needed to expand her possible plot lines and this book will allow that. This may be my favorite in the series. The phantom is as great twist. Her before and now back in a big way. And with honor! Spoiler alert, he is here to stay and the future of the series rides on the new expanded team!

Every new book I read by Ms. Jones I never know what will happen or figure out the ending but I very much enjoy the ride. This story is full of surprises once again. Excellent job! I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.

After a Senate hearing (nicely written), Kate and Declan are charged with solving an art theft and murders in Washington DC. The crime involves the Phantom (from previous books) but many aspects are different from his previous crimes.

A complex story

Awesome!

There are not enough stars to tell how much I loved this book. I feel like it wrapped up a chapter for Kate and started a whole new one. A few twists and a lot of great writing makes this book hard to put down. I highly recommend this one as well as the others in the series.

This is the 7th in a series about 2 FBI agents who usually are after serial killers but get pulled into an art heist because the thief’s murders 2 guards. Like these series when I don’t want to think! Already know the characters.

End of Phantom

I always wanted to read more about the Curators, but didn't expect this twist. Not a bad idea to bring the Phantom to the legitimate world. But will the team survive?

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Declan and Kate in D.C. where they are appearing at a Senate hearing. Kate is the last one and she is told that if she wants to keep her job, she needs to arrest "the Phantom". It seems that a museum was broken into and a picture was stolen with all the clues showing "the Phantom" was responsible. Kaye and Declan are assigned the case which is new to them. As they began their investigation, they learn that a business card for the Phantom was left at the scene. They later learned that a King of Diamonds was also found. While they were working on this case, another museum was hit and the same evidence was found there. Kate had doubts that the person known as "the Phantom" was responsible. At both scenes guards were killed and the Phantom in all of his activity had never hurt anybody.

Kate had a relationship with "the Phantom" from when she was kidnapped in Paris as well as on their last case when he saved her life. A way was developed where the Phantom would come to DX.C., but not under arrest to help them solve the cases where the pictures were stolen.

The book is a definite read and will provide all of the answers who was responsible for the killings when the art was stolen, what did they plan that would eventually capture the culprits and who the Phantom really was. As I said, don't miss out on this book.
