Olivia’s settling into the rhythm of life in Timber Falls, and she’s finally ready for the grand re-opening of her bookstore. Her new friend, Meg, planned to serve up some delicious treats, but she never intended to serve up a murder!
When Nathan Blackmere, the much-despised developer, ends up dead in Olivia’s shop, sandwich in hand, all eyes turn to Meg, despite her protestations of innocence.
Olivia’s certain her best friend didn’t do it, but she’ll need to work quickly to prove Meg’s innocence. The quilting ladies are all too happy to pitch in, and of course, Millie the Miracle Cat, will have a paw in the mix if she’s got anything to say about it.
Join Olivia, Millie, and the much-loved quilting crew as they race to find the real culprit. Nearly everyone in town had a motive for wanting Blackmere dead, and the killer might be someone they all know and love. Will justice be served?
I'm tired of the over-used plot device of the main character(s) doing their own investigation of a murder.

It seemed like a long wait for this book but it was definitely worth it! Like she did in the last book, Millie the intuitive cat definitely was a help when it came to finding clues and a killer. I really love those four ladies that took Olivia under their wings, who wouldn’t love four aunts like that, right? They’re all such a hoot. Especially when they're in a matchmaking mood which seemed to be pretty often. The showdown was a good one that Millie helped with and kept Olivia safe in. I hope she'll eventually give Rob a chance, he's such a nice guy!
I read the little blurb for the next book after this book and I've got two words: can't wait!
I wish all these books did not have stereotypical women who blush, scream or faint. This one has less of that, thank heaven. The feisty old women are a nice counter to that sort of nonsense. I love the cat. Wish it talked. Now that I am hooked, there aren't any more books yet. Drat. Wish they could be written as fast as I can read them. Please write one without a scream or blush or faint in it!
This tale picks up at the point where the previous book left off. Nathan is dead and the entire town is in a frenzy to find out who killed him and why.
Almost everyone has a motive and an alabi, making the sorting of suspects even more difficult than would normally be the case.
The most amazing Writer I have found in a long time
Since discovering Courtney McFarland and her amazing writing I have read her books each day. As I follow thru each amazingly fascinating series I am anticipating what she will offer next. Thank you Courtney for filling my life with happiness and wonder
I do like the series and I like the author. However, I am adamantly agreeing with another reviewer - seriously, please make a book where the main character doesn't find a murdered body and decide to investigate and solve it before the police. That seems to be all I read these days and I need to find another plot.
Luv these cat mysteries like Rousseau -Murphy’s. Think we r headed for lots of fun and can’t wait. Unfortunately it takes a lot more time to pen than read
Truly a wonderful series! All the characters are very likable ( except the bad guys/ girls). Millie is a mystery right now, but hopefully we'll find out what she has going on. Some sort of magical powers. Especially when she had that glow about her and the window opened on its own. I'm hoping eventually Olivia and Millie will be able to verbally communicate. This series is so much fun!!!❤❤🌹🌹😻😻
I really enjoy this series. It has mystery plenty of action and it makes you laugh. I love all the characters because you’re taste of what small town life could be like. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
The mystery in this one was more carefully constructed and interesting. I wish there had been more details about the cat! On to the next book I go hoping for answers.
Fun combination of characters! Action is good, nothing bloody or grosteque but a touch of fun. This is the 2nd book and I’m looking forward to the next.
