In the book that predicted our current political climate, conservative talk-show host and #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Savage shows how true patriots can defend America's freedoms before it's too late.
The split between the right and the left is growing every day, and our country is in real trouble. Not between the states, but between true patriots who believe in our nation's founding principles and those he believes are working every day to undermine them and change the very nature of the country.
Michael Savage is convinced we face more than just political differences. He believes the split between right and left is possibly irreversible unless we understand what's destroying American values and how to stop it. This fervent warning offers the Savage truth - a call to action in the voting booth - in order to defend the freedoms our Constitution so brilliantly established.
Dr. Michael Savage is a multimedia icon in the conservative movement. The Telegraph in the U.K. ranked him as one of the most influential conservatives in the United States, and with 10 million weekly listeners, the Berkeley Ph.D. is the third most listened to conservative talk show host. Recently featured in The New Yorker and Playboy, Dr. Savage is the author of many books, including the political thriller Abuse of Power and four New York Times bestsellers. His media presence and profile earned him the coveted Freedom of Speech Award from Talkers magazine in 2007.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name.
Dr. Savage holds a master's degree in medical botany and a second in medical anthropology. Additionally, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in epidemiology and nutrition sciences. He is an ardent conservationist, is dedicated to his family, and is a proud patriot of his country.
Savage explores the tactics used by Leftist to change the United States over to their religious and political beliefs. He uses historical examples while painting a gloomy picture of the future with a possible second armed revolution dividing the country. Should be read by those on all points of the political spectrum.
I just finished this book. Mr. Savage had done a fantastic job on this book. He has laid out the facts of what is happening to my country and pulled no punches. He has gone so far as to give references so if you doubt anything in the book, all you have to do is look it up.
You can be a Liberal, Democrat, a book shelf Republican, but you can 't deny the facts which are laid out in this book. He has covered all the major areas where Hussein Obama and his cronies are leading my country on the road to destruction. He has laid out the back ground to what he thinks will happen and the causes of a civil war if it should come to it.
This book is factual and real. Should be required reading for every American so they can see what is happening.
When starting this book I was intrigued by how well Mr. Savage's ideas were organized and presented. The further I went into the book however, the more and more it became repetitive and just felt like it was dragging on. It didn't help that some thoughts seemed to me to be more conspiracy than actual facts. Despite the downsides of the book, Michael Savage did make good points in regards to showing genuine parallels between the events that brought about the Civil War and what is going on in modern times. As the saying goes, history repeats itself.
I'm not putting this out as a recommendation, the book is far too repetitive, though I'm not sure if any books are along the same topic as this one. If there is, I'd like to know.
I've read about 4 or 5 of Savage's books and I can always count on a man who isn't afraid to tell the truth no matter what, all the while making you laugh because the guy, at least to me is hilarious. Stop The Coming Civil War was different, much different. The laughs were gone, and the gloves were off, not because Savage is giving up, no, it just quite the opposite. Now more than ever it's time to really fight for this once great country. The title of this book seems a little extreme, but once you read it, Savage's case has been made and it's a good one at that. If you love this country and the principals it was built on, you better be ready to show up at the voting booths or God forbid be ready to fight for what's left of this great land.
I learned a lot about how republicans view Obama or at least how the author did. I feel like I don't know that much about politics and feel that I vote without a clear understanding of what's actually happening. Even though I didn't necessarily agree with the author on some things, after seeing the daily show and seeing how republicans are made fun of there I kind of welcomed a viewpoint from the other side. I think liberals can be snobs and it really could get worse if we don't welcome bipartisan viewpoints. Like I said I think I learned more about democrats reading this book than from a democrat so I feel that republicans are somewhat in the right on some matters.
Very well written once again Dr. Savage. A master of fiction (the Jack Hatfield series) and a master of non-fiction. While all points on display by the good doctor are not shared by me, though most are, it spurns thought as well as a desire to research the point. Great work again, a conservative starting point to the much needed repair to reinvigorate our great nation.
Compelling read. I agree with alot of this book. This book is a must read for anyone wanting to know a perspective of than their own on the issues we are currently facing. Book won courtesy of Goodreads Giveaway.
In reading this book I was reminded of why I am not a fan of conservatarians like the author, even if we have similar hostility towards leftism. I was also intrigued that this book seemed a bit prophetic about the 2016 election in terms of the reliance of Putin (!) as the last best hope for America (!!) [1]. It is remarkable that even though the author of this book and I have a similar concern about the coming of a second Civil War [2], the author shows much more concern for the authoritarian left, and I am much more concerned about the anarchical left (of the Occupy movement and antifa and related movements) provoking a response from conservatives in power. At any rate, this was an interesting book to read even if I found much in it to disagree with, a disagreement from people whose worldviews are distinct and even antithetical but whose desire for the well-being of the country in which we live makes us part of the same overall political coalition despite those strong differences in worldview that exist.
This book of a bit over 250 of core material discusses several aspects of the culture war that liberals in Obama's administration waged on the nation itself as part of a vast left-wing conspiracy. Not being one that tends to be fond of conspiratorial thinking, this sort of structure was not one I particularly enjoyed. The scope of the author's discussions was notable, though, as it compared the contemporary era to the time around Lincoln's inauguration with the mood of treason and strong governmental action against dissidents in the air. The author discusses various wars on borders/language/culture, the strength and readiness of the U.S. military, the middle class, medicine, civil rights, science, schools, our allies (particularly Israel), and how the Civil War can be stopped through the election of better candidates. Including in this book are the sort of red meat dealing with government corruption that included everything from illegal arms trading through Bengazi to fraud in enabling massive government handouts to banks to remarkably consistent praise for Putin that seems out of place for an author who strives to appeal to nationalism. In general, this book points out the campaigns of 2014, when the Republicans gained control of both houses, as well as at least some of the nationalist appeals that would lead to a surprisingly decisive Republican victory in the presidential election.
There is a group of people that will likely find in this book the confirmation of their fears and concerns about the American political system, and some people that will likely reject everything that this book has to say simply based on who wrote it. Among the lamentable aspects of our current societal crisis is the way that it seems as people are not interested in talking to anyone outside of their own particular group, and this book certainly shares that tendency to an alarming degree. Perhaps strikingly and ironically, many of the same criticisms about purges in the military leadership in order to ensure political compliance as well as concerns about lowering the dignity of the office of the presidency at home and abroad that are leveled here against Obama are leveled in the lamestream media against the current president. Concerns about foreign influence as well have been present on both the left and right, and appeals to the middle class and discussion of the ways that the other side are screwing them over. No matter what side you are on, it seems the tendency is to use the same sort of arguments against your ideological enemies, making our political scene seem like a children's game of taunting and tu quoque argumentation.
This book was written in 2014 and I am glad I didn't read it then because I am sure it would have raised my blood pressure a few points higher than it does now. Savage takes the reader back to the time when Obama was still President and things were still looking pretty bleak. On almost every page the reader is reminded, if read today, of the very reason Donald J. Trump was elected President. I was reminded of some of the terrible policies of Barack Obama and of how he promised change but tried with all his might to fundamentally change America to fit his own flawed ideology. Savage tells the true story of Obama's immigration policies and how he has continually urged illegals to come into this country. He tells how Obama altered the numbers of illegals deported by saying that those turned away at the border were actually illegals who had gotten into the country. He reminded me of why the Democratic party is so far Left now that many in their own party do not even recognize who they have become. Socialism is no longer simply hinted at with this party...it has become a reality. Redistribution of wealth, which was a huge Obama dream for this country, is once again rearing it's ugly head with some of the newest members of our Congress. As Savage states, "Amnesty for illegal aliens is nothing less than sovereignty redistribution in the form of land and resources redistribution." As Savage stated in his closing arguments in this book, "We must have someone in office after 2016 who can and will issue executive orders that reverse the damage that Obama's executive orders have done." Savage never mentioned Trump in this book because he did not know that Trump would even be a candidate but I am guessing that if he had known he would have approved. I know I do.
Dr. Savage knocks it out of the park with this one. He explains through factual evidence how the Democrats have been planting the seeds of division among the citizens within America through liberal policies of race and class warfare. He identifies the major issues and provides a pathway of solutions, a way out if you will to remedy the current political situation our country finds itself in. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
One of Savage's better political books. He writes clearly and does not mince words. Savage throws punches at both the Democratic and Republican Party. He dives into the many political problems facing the country. This book is mostly built on a conservative viewpoint and liberals will struggle with Savage's negative tone.
I gave this three stars for several reasons. Most important I found some of the facts to be relevant but I also found some of the facts to be incorrect to the point that I feel like Mr. Savage is clueless too often. Two wrongs never make a right! Secondly, I listened to the book on tape and it wasn't even read by Mr. Savage himself (a Radio "voice" person). You got to be kidding me!! I guess he can't stomach his own book to read it himself?!
As the current political scene becomes more and more clouded with questionable information, it helps to have an experienced voice that can guide people to reason. There is a constant bombardment of back and forth rhetoric that amounts to nothing, but is used to convince the simple masses that the current political leader is excellent. In reality the country is on a one way ticket to hell and the majority of the politicians in office have sold the United States of America out. Neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party is innocent. Both are doing a horrible job. This book is about one man’s explanation of how these parties are failing a once great country. He provides examples of this in a way that both a political activist and a person such as myself could understand and enjoy. The author is a passionate man that comes from humble means who built himself up by sweat and blood. He understands what it means to have to work six out of seven days a week in order to support a family. He is also a person who is highly educated with several graduate degrees underneath his belt. Thus, he is both well-spoken and well written.
This book was very helpful with the current political situation. I have found myself avoiding the television in general these days due to disgust. Therefore most of my news either comes from the internet or radio. I find that nearly all of the main stream news media seem alike, therefore there is no point in watching them. It seems wise to go outside the box and find alternative sources for the news and I must admit that is where I stumbled upon Michael Savage. I listen to him on the internet. I have to recommend both his shows and this book. If you are like me and struggling for something else than look for him. Look to Drudge online for your news. Enough with the main stream media. Maybe if they realize that those of us in our late 30’s and under want change, they will actually listen. Take a chance and read the book, it’s worth it with the election coming up.
I think the content of the book was really good. Savage talks quite a bit about a civil war brewing in this country, but I don't think it will come to that. There are a lot of race baiters pushing the envelope, and a lot of folks who think its cool to protest until they feel the need to loot. The big elephant in the room is the year 2020. John Podesta wants a New World Order, without borders. The only way to do that is to let China in through the back door, they do after all have lots of empty cities for FEMA to use at their leisure. Our current currency is just about as good as a 3 dollar bill, and China is stockpiling Gold and Silver. The North American Union (NAU) will form at many people's expense. Savage failed to mention that Bill Gates wants his piece of the pie in the African Nations, as he is trying to fix vaccines to eliminte the majority of the earths population. Savage did a lot of research, but he didn't tell the whole story which is why i gave him 4 stars. Savage is a good story teller, but he is on the side of Walid Shoebat. Walid Shoebat is a terrorist, and there is an audio interview with Shoebat and Savage that has Savage kissing his behind. It truly is confusing to read this book with Savage "caring" about Civil Rights, when he supports terrorists like walid Shoebat.
I read Stop the Coming Civil War are reading reviews on Goodreads and a recommendation from a family member. My thoughts on this book, as well as other books written about the direction of our country is alarming. This book did not change my feelings on how I feel this country should be led. A lot of the topics covered in this book were known from other books.
Dr. Savage is a far right wing writer and radio host, but he offered a good debate on the future of the USA. And he provided sound advise on how to steer this country back on path for prosperity. This is a difficult time in the history of the USA. We must stop hiding behind political parties, meet in the middle and get this country back on track for success.
This is a difficult book to review, because I either support Dr. Savage whit his assumption that this President Obama has totally dropped ball while in office or I refute Dr. Savage as being a right wing radical. I will choose to take neither stance and just say I support the USA and I hope who ever ends of as our next President does a better job at leading the USA. I'm not a President Obama apologist nor a hater. But his ego has let his presidency, not his actions. And this book helped to cement that resolve for me.
Savage hits the nail on the head, this country is in real trouble because our elected senators and congressmen fail to show any backbre eone.
I think the author made many very well supported points of what is wrong with America. Corruption has taken over the leadership of America - both elected and appointed. They spend time lining their pockets at the expense of the tax paying Americans and have worked hard to create a society of free-loaders. When they are not doing that, they spend a great amount of time working to get reelected. Michael has pointed out that, while Obama and his administration are the closest thing to the ANTI-CHRIST this country has ever experienced, the Republican Party must share part of the blame because of personal biases and lack of functioning as a single party. They now have a chance to correct the direction of the Country, God help us if they don't work to get
I enjoy listening to Savage on the Radio. His passion for what is going on in the political arena is most interesting to me. He has a gift for saying what needs to be said and in a way we can understand. Since 2008, he discusses these issues. I just finished this book. Mr. Savage has done a fantastic job of this book. He has laid out the facts of what is happening to our country and pulled no punches. He has gone so far as to give references so if you doubt anything in the book, all you have to do is look it up.
You can be a Liberal, Democrat, a Republican, but you can't deny the facts which are laid out in this book. He has laid out the background to what he thinks will happen and the causes of a civil war if it should come to it.
This book is factual and real. Should be required reading for every American so they can see what is truly happening.
So much timely information! Michael Savage speaks openly about what is happening in the current administration and how many of the policies and communication seem to be trying to divide the country and citizenry. In conversation with several colleagues we have discussed how we see the same things in the news on a weekly basis, racial comments and actions, people taking sides and hard stances against political groups, cities, races, etc. Things are a mess, and if we can’t collectively open our eyes and see what is happening and take corrective measures, tempers and emotions will boil over and may lead to unfortunate events. Good read for our current state of events.
It's a good thing I read about Michael Savage before I purchased this book. Any individual who reduces rages against our American Veterans who suffer from PTSD calling them cry babies not men is not worth a penny from my pocketbook.
I love our Veterans... I will honor the men and women of this country who have and are serving and would encourage you to do the same. Don't buy the books of someone who persecutes the men and women of our nations uniform.
Okay, I got four chapters in and gave up. Politically I don't have a dog in this fight and I lost interest. What I find more interesting is my millennial son asked me to read it. He and a surprising number of his friends love Michael Savage, read his books and listen to his radio show. While I lean gently to the right, I'm beginning to suspect the younger millennials are growing up far more conservative and libertarian than the boomers or gen x'ers. The 2016 presidential elections will be interesting to watch.
Savage likes hyperbole. I put off this book because of that and at the outset it was a bit "off-putting." However, he makes powerful arguments about the abuses by the left and the all out assault on Christianity. I'm no fan of the radical right's style and even some of their content, however the radical left are probably worse. He exposes many of the Obama administrations hypocritical positions and how the pieces fit together for a rather concerted effort to fundamentally change America--for the worse.
I ended up giving the book way more credit than when i started.
Not as fiery as his other books, but a good read. Savage lays out a number of policies that are killing our country. KILLING it. The final chapter then gives solutions to our ailing problems. We are at a serious crossroads right now and we need a major shift in the direction we are heading, before it's too late.
Quieres pasar un momento divertido? No sólo si los OVNIs abducen inocentes o si Elvis aún vive, son un problema en esta sociedad. Do you want to have a funny moment? Not only because UFOs abduct innocent peasants or if Elvis is still alive. Those are not the only problems this society has to live with.
Borders, language, culture--three things we as a nation should be doing more to defend. This is probably Savage's best book and definitely the most prescient. Seems like a lot of voters read it before the recent election...
