Thomas Merton: In My Own Words

Rate this book
Thomas Merton is one of the most influential American spiritual writers of the past century. Thousands have drawn strength from his words and the witness of his life. He was able to distill the best writings of theologians, philosophers, and poets over the centuries, from both the West and the East, and present their ideas in the context of the Christian worldview. This book provides a portal into the monastic vocation of Thomas Merton and gives us a snapshot of his entire life. His words encourage readers to embrace their own vocation as baptized Christians, as members of the human family, and as people in relationship.

A simplistic view on how to live in God's presence ... yet difficult to implicate (for me), although Thomas Merton acquired. A thought provoking read, which has charged me to change some areas in my life.

A re-read of Thomas Merton's "In My Own Words", that provides glimpses of many of his books and poetry. I always leave a Merton work with a list of items I either want to research, or pray over. If you have never read any Merton books, this would be a good introduction for you. Merton will challenge your mind toward more God and less world.
