Kelly Cozy became hooked on books in early infancy, when she turned one of her parents' paperbacks into a teething ring. She lives in California with her husband, son, and cats. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, watching movies, and attending nerdy conventions.
She is the author of The Day After Yesterday (contemporary fiction) and of Ashes and Reckoning (suspense series).
Sean Kincaid has exacted his own brand of justice on a cell of domestic terrorists when his former agency wouldn’t put him back on active status, but in the hunt some innocent casualties occurred. Anna Blaine was killed along with her unborn child and Sean doesn’t know how to live with himself. Deirdre Monahan is Anna’s cousin and the person who found her body. Sean is out to make amends, Deirdre is out for his blood, and Sean’s former boss is out to take his life. RECKONING is a story with great characters, a strong emotional presence, and some wicked plot twists. I don’t want to give too much away, but definitely read ASHES (book 1) and RECKONING! In RECKONING, you will see the work of an author who has a deft touch and a powerful mastery of human emotion.
Ashes was so good it left me wanting to get Revenge and start reading it right away, which is exactly what I did. I laughed and cried, rooted out loud when certain effects took place. Surprisingly the ending was very satisfying. Get these 2 books and enjoy them!

MY REVIEW: Reckoning is one of the most thrilling and suspenseful novels I've read in a long time. Ms. Cozy knows her characters well and delves into the intracacies of their personalities and what makes them tick. In Reckoning we are introduced to Deirdre Monahan who is the cousin of Anna. Deirdre looks very much like Anna that it startles a lot of people. She is having a very, very difficult time coping with and accepting Anna's death, they were very close. Deirdre decides she is going to investigate and find out who is responsible for Anna's death but what she doesn't know is just how dangerous this plan is going to be. She will be dealing with some very tough people who have no respect for life whatsoever and ends up in a few nail-biting moments. Sean Kincaid is still on his quest to ensure Jennifer Thomson is okay. He and Deirdre eventually meet up in a scene that had me biting my own nails. I was almost afraid to see what was going to happen. Kelly Cozy is such an amazing author who gives real voices to what seems real people. You almost forget that you're reading fiction. Her characters are so well-developed that I feel as though I know each one personally. I would highly recommend that you read Book One "Ashes" first so you can get a better idea of the background and how all this started. You can read "Reckoning" as a stand-alone, but I promise you'll enjoy the sequel much more if you read Book One first. I'm really hoping there will be a Book Three! Great job, Ms. Cozy you've made a fan for life!!

Review Earlier this year I had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series Ashes. That book caught me by surprise but I enjoyed it a lot and was delighted when Kelly approached me if I would want to review the sequel too. I know the cover is not the most attractive. I am a total wimp when it comes to pretty covers and would not have picked up either of Kelly Cozy's book if it was for the covers. But that would have been my loss. Reckoning picks up a few days after Ashes finishes. Sean is on the road trying to make amends for his actions in Ashes. Sean is the good guy despite his not always subtle actions. It is clear his old profession created some standards in his brain that are not for everyone. Still you cannot stop to like him when reading the book. Deirdre lost her best friend and cousin when Anna died. Her anger or maybe even rage jumps from the pages as well as her pain and grief. She is a very strong woman though she does not know that herself and I liked her a lot. The developments in the story are based a lot on what happened in Ashes so I do not want to give to much away. If this would have been written as one book it would have made sense and it still makes sense. Though some parts are repeated to remember the reader what happened I do feel you should read Ashes first. With Reckoning Kelly Cozy puts out another solid enjoyable mystery novel that kept me awake because I had to know what would happen next. For crime readers this series is a must read.

Excellent read from the first book through the second. Sean was a man you hated to love! So cold but knew why he must do what he did. I was happy that his career did not still all that was good in him. I can't help but think the things left in Roberts house may send him on another adventure...yes?
I loved book Ashes #1 and I loved Ashes #2 even more! I'll eagerly read them all if there are more....please let there be more! Now I'll be starting on another book from Kelly Cozy - I love the way she tells a story!
This was a suprisingly great sequel to Ashes. I was sad at first that not all the same characters were in this, but the new ones were just as great as the ones in Ashes. I recommend both books.
