Are we humans worthy of such devotion from our pets? I, too, have often thought that our pets, especially dogs, can be too loyal to us human beings. This is the first period in my life that I don’t have a dog as a companion. I grew up with dogs and know in my heart that I will have a friendship with them in my home again.

I have been lucky to have the following dogs in my life; Stacey, Tracey, Dusty, Lucky, Mikey, Max, and Daisy. They have all been special to me in so many ways, but three of my special friends have made me grow in ways I didn’t know could happen. I still find myself thinking hard at times of Dusty, Max, and Daisy. They were with me at pivotal times in my life, and made me take notice of them no matter what was occurring.

The author’s stories of life on her family’s farm in Illinois made me feel every emotion she felt as though I was experiencing it too. When a birthday party was thrown for a calf, I wished that I could have been there as well. In the section “THE JUNKYARD,” I realized that dogs do in fact believe every word a person says. I can’t get Barry’s tale out of my heart, and never want to.

This book allowed me to gain insight into the lives of cats. I have never had a cat, but have always been curious about them. One of the most hilarious stories to me was when the author went to visit her family in Illinois. She left her cats alone in the house in Tucson for ten days. When she returned, the cats had thrown all the items on the shelves to the floor in retaliation for leaving them alone. Talk about some mad cats! I couldn’t take a break from this book, and feel more connected and aware of the animals around me. I am the better for it.

Wow, what a wonderful, thought-provoking, and insightful book - it really is a fascinating journey and will change the way you see animals forever. Now that I think of it, it is somewhat presumptuous to believe only humans have a spiritual purpose. This, would of course seem unlikely, and Hoff's understanding of animals is so scarily accurate that I really believe she is onto something. The reading experience was so powerful to me that at times I had tears in my eyes! Anyone who has suffered the pain of losing a pet knows it is like losing a family member, and the possibility they may not truly be gone is such a powerful one. Hoff's abilities to communicate with, and heal, animals are simply mind-boggling: she is truly a special woman. The stories in this book are sad, funny, heart-warming, and so much more. They are all wonderfully written and utterly captivating. This is quite simply one of the best reads I've had in a long time. Fantastic!

"Animal Lover" is a fascinating book by the author Ann Marie Hoff who has an uncanny ability to communicate with animals. I really liked how the book was broken up into different sections with adequate pauses to make you think about what you have just read. I always enjoy reading about how people interact with animals in their own way. Her stories were interesting and also entertaining. Some stories will make you laugh while others will make you cry, but overall a heartwarming read. It won't take you long to read this book because of the way it's organized and the way Hoff captures the audience with her words. Anyone that loves animals I think would love to add this to their collection.

Animal Lover is the author’s story about how she came to be an animal psychic, and her many stories of speaking with and helping animals and their owners. I really appreciated the author sharing her experiences that lead her to discovering her strong bond with animals, and eventually her ability to be able to speak with them. I thought her story was really special, and she does a great job of bringing to life just how much animals have had an impact on her throughout her life’s experiences. It is truly a unique and intriguing story. I think that this is a great book for anyone who has a strong bond with their pets and has an open mind, definitely a worthwhile read!

Ann Marie Hoff has an amazing talent that is worth exploring. She has found over 800 lost dogs and is able to communicate with animals. What a wonderful gift! Reading about her childhood, I was amazed at the similarities between mine and hers, from the dad who found it unnecessary to give cats any vet treatments, to that "feeling" when you know that you are doing something wrong such as indulging in gossip, etc. I would love to have a reading about my current and past pets.

Animal Lover should be mandatory reading for all pet owners. The book gives you a wonderful understanding of how pets feel and the way they interact with their humans.

I was very interested in and affected by many of the animal stories both the tragic and the heart-warming.
Also I thought the suggestions in point form of what to do if your pet is lost and tips on grieving for a pet were a great addition.

Although I understand the author believes in fairies and angels etc, the supernatural is a step too far for me.

I received this book as one of the free giveaways. It is not a type of book that I would usually read but I found it very interesting. I had never heard of animal communicators and found it a new and different idea to think about. I'm still very skeptical but did enjoy reading the book. I would recommend this book.

I loved the stories Ann shares in this book of her communications with animals. As someone who is learning animal communication, I am in awe of those who are able to communicate so well with our fuzzy, feathered, and scaly companions.

This book is a wonderful depiction of how animals think and feel. As an animal lover, myself, I found this book quite fascinating to read. I personally loved reading how Ms. Hoff's intuitive ability came to fruition. One could imagine that they would feel as if they were going crazy as this type of ability came into their lives. Some may criticize this book due to the fact that the author is a spiritual medium. I feel that it would be an injustice to this author and to this book for a reader to automatically discredit this reading based on this author's beliefs and abilities. As a spiritual person myself, I have seen many who are very "in tune" to the Earth, to people, and to animals. Most people say that a mother's intuition is one of the most powerful things in the world. So, as you read this book, I ask that you keep an open mind and let the words flow through you. I personally find fascinating how some animals return to us, but at times in different form. I have had animals over the years that exhibit the exact same characteristics and mannerisms of previous pets, so I too have always wondered about this theory. The short stories that are presented in this book are enlightening and may give the reader insight into how animals think, act, and feel. I encourage anyone who is an animal lover, spiritual being, or curious about psychic capabilities to read this book. Very interesting! I enjoyed reading with fascination to the stories of various cats, dogs, horses and how the author, Ann Hoff, related with them. The idea that she can actually talk to animals to find them when they are lost or to help heal them when they are ill, is mind boggling. Seems to me to be a bit unbelievable, but after reading the book, I am sure there is something to this. I really wonder if I will see some of my cherished pets when I am gone. Honestly, I never thought of that. Anyone who has pets they are very close to will enjoy this easy read and feel very good about them, even after death. Ms. Hoff is a wonder. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in psychic phenomenon.
