One Bad Thing

Rate this book
McKenna is a good man who takes a new crewman onto his boat in Bermuda to sail back to Boston, handsome young Tom Cain. When Cain is about to be caught smuggling diamonds by the Coast Guard, he convinces McKenna to lie to save him . . . for a share. McKenna does this one bad thing, and finds himself bound by chains of murder. That one lie puts his life, and the life of his wife, in danger; forces him to murder, and enmeshes him in a web of international crime and evil.

The dark romance of the thriller has never been more potent than in One Bad Thing .

I found this randomly at a second hand store and was just expecting it to be a low end palette cleanser read in between my long series but was pleasantly surprised when this turned out to be a real page turner, was surprised through the whole thing and was very happy how it ended. I’ll be looking into some more of his books for sure !

Better than average thriller. Nice surprise from a book I pretty much randomly pulled off the shelf at the library. Love that.

Exciting thriller, but not up to Eidson's high standards. There were too many strains on the fabric of plausability.

Thriller - After buying The Wanderer, Rob McKenna sets sail with wife, Caroline, on an ocean voyage. When Caroline flies home from Tortolla to Newburyport, MA, Tom Cain offers to be McKenna's mate. But Cain is not the sailor he professes to be, and so begins a journey more dangerous than the treacherous sea. McKenna discovers that Cain possesses a fortune in diamonds, which they agree to split. In a dense fog, McKenna faces a life-threatening situation leading to murder. In Newburyport, McKenna has to defend himself, Caroline and their friends from people whom Cain cheated and double-crossed.

Man's life is forever changed when he give a ride on his boat to a guy who turns out to be a diamond smuggler. This leads to all kinds of trouble and dangerous situations as he gets involved with Boston gangsters and wanton women. Lots of plot twists. Recommended to lovers of action books.

Bill Eidson writes beautifully; this was a real page turner. I don't love mass-market type mysteries, but this was engaging and worth the time.
