Absolutely loved reading this Novel! It has been one the best that I have read in a while. The plot is intriguing, the writing style is phenomenal, and it makes me excited to read more from this talented author!
Decent core plot/concept, but the whole of the book reads more like a hasty first draft. The writing style made the book almost unreadable. Every sentence was overwrought and layered with hyperbole that brought the plot to a standstill instead of progressing the story. For writing with so much extra filler, it left the characters oddly unexamined, with no backstory or clear motives and only the thinnest sense of why or what had brought about the current situation.
The lead character had a gratuitous, vaguely indigenous background, but no real motivations or purpose, while the universe they lived in was described as an uninhabitable hellscape, both in the opening and after an unnecessary 10 year time jump.
Not sure if this was written by AI or an ambitious writing student, but the story telling could benefit from some workshop sessions and editorial oversight.
